Molly is a 2-year-old Golden mix who was lovingly surrendered by her previous family. She arrived with paperwork stating she is a Mini Goldendoodle. We see the Golden in her but not quite sure about the Poodle.
At her vet visit last week the vet agreed she didn’t see much, if any, poodle just by looking at her. It's possible she might have a little Springer/Dachshund mix in addition to her Golden. One thing is for certain—she definitely has the Golden charm!
Molly is healthy and up to date on her vaccinations. She is spayed and microchipped so she is ready to find her forever home. She weighs 33 pounds, but the vet does recommend she lose around 5 pounds over the next few months. We are monitoring her food portions and she seems just fine with what she is given.
Molly is housebroken, loves to play fetch with her ball for as long as her little legs will let her, and really enjoys being around people.
Now that the weather is nicer we have been getting out for some walks. She pulls a bit when walking, so will need continued training to help her walk nicely. It’s surprising how strong she is for such a little gal. Like most dogs, she enjoys running around, but she's not obsessed. After a while, she will calm down.
For her fence needs, we have "physical fence optional." We do not have a fence so we need to take her out on a leash for walk and to do her business. Her forever family will need to have a solid plan to keep her safe as we can't say we trust her recall at this point.
Upon coming into RAGOM, we were told that she gets along with other dogs and cats. We have not been able to verify this as she is the only animal in our home. For now, we are stating "not tested" as her requirements. If a family is interested and has either a dog or cat, we would need to further investigate the suitability.
Molly has been very loving to any new person that has come over to our house. Since we do not have any children in our home, we cannot say for sure how she would do living with children. However, we can say she has met two cousins, aged 10 and 13, and did well with them.
For now we feel she would do great with any age, so are opening her to "good with all children." As with any dog/child interaction, we would need to discuss ways to ensure everyone is safe and happy.
We have not witnessed any growling or guarding over any items around the house. However, she does have a tendency to get a hold of things that are on the floor that maybe she shouldn’t have, but there are no issues when we take these items back from her. She really is a good girl.
If you're looking for a smaller dog that it really easy to care for, Molly might be the dog for you! Because she loves being around people, a home where she can get a lot of attention would be ideal. She isn’t needy, but just likes to hang around wherever you are. She is as cute and sweet as they come, and she has just been a joy to have.
