Cupid has made some major progress on his road to recovery! His thyroid level is back up in the normal range, which means Cupid finally has some energy and now on walks he bounds back and forth with his ears flapping every which way instead of plodding along at a snail’s pace. His weight is down to 64 lbs which is a much healthier weight for him. His allergies continue to be a struggle, and he is fighting an antibiotic resistant staph infection, so keeping his itching under control is a real challenge. Both of Cupid’s lumps were removed: the first one was cancerous, but the surgeon thinks she got all of it. The second one was benign, so we’re hoping he’s clear of all cancer.
The best news of all: Cupid has found a family that loves him dearly and wants him to be their forever dog, itches and all! He will have 2 other dogs to play with, 3 cats to keep him in line, and his own kids who will bring their friends home so they can all sit in a circle around Cupid and pet him (that is Cupid’s favorite – he thinks he died and went to heaven).
Cupid has had some rough turns in his life, but from here on out he will be loved and cherished in his own forever home – his very own RAGOM happy ending!

Cupid is a big, lovable, 92 lb golden retriever who arrived a week ago from North Dakota. Not much is known about his past, but in recent history we were told his owner passed away and he went to live with a good-hearted person who took him in. Unfortunately, this person had more animals than they could handle, and Cupid liked to wander, so they eventually put him for free on Craigslist. A good Samaritan from a rescue saw the ad, took him in, and contacted RAGOM.
Cupid came into RAGOM in pretty rough shape and needs some time to resolve a number of medical issues before he’ll be available for adoption. He is 25+ pounds overweight, limping/stiff, severely lethargic, and has major skin issues: he has several large lumps and is battling severe skin allergies. His eyes are almost closed from the extra weight and inflammation. He will need xrays, thyroid and blood panels, antibiotics for skin infections, thyroid medication, antibiotics, pain medication, and a teeth cleaning. His lumps will need to be surgically removed and tested for cancer. Cupid's need for allergy medication may be an ongoing expense as he is still scratching his skin raw at times.
We will start loving Cupid up and getting him on the road to recovery!
