Meet River!

River is an adorable 1-year-old female Lab mix. She is sweet, cuddly, affectionate, goofy and playful. She is an honorary RAGOM Golden Retriever because she has all of the same wonderful traits as the other Goldens that we know and love!

River absolutely loves curling up on the couch next to her humans or on a dog bed at your feet. She is pretty low-maintenance and is completely house-trained. In the time that River has been with us, she has transitioned exceptionally well. She has daily play sessions with her foster sister Harper and even started including our resident Golden. River doesn't need an extraordinary amount of space and would be fine living in an apartment or house. She doesn't show any signs of resource guarding and greets people with speedy tail wags and many kisses. She loves playing with her stuffed moose or chewing on her antler, but would take a nice warm nap on your lap over those things any day.River15283c2.jpg           River15283c3.jpg
Here are some things we LOVE about River:-River is sooo excited to see her humans first thing in the morning that her entire rear half shakes with her tail. How could you have a better start to the day?-She gets along very well with other dogs, even enticing them to play. She also loves meeting new people. Although she can be a bit shy at first, she warms up very quickly and is a real threat to steal your heart.-River is mellow and very affectionate. She just wants to be by her people and give them as much love as possible.
-She is healthy and up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed.-She does her business outside very quickly and hasn't had a single accident in our house since she's been here. And last but not least.....
-Those EARS! I mean, seriously! How can you not love them!?River is very excited to meet your family so if you think she sounds like a good fit, please contact your Placement Adviser today!

Updates

Monday, February 1, 2016

Well, yesterday was probably the best day of River's life as she was adopted! Talk about a match made in heaven; she is one lucky girl! River will have someone home most of the time, a large fenced yard to play in, a cabin to go to in the summer, and a king-size bed to sleep in at night. She also has a 95-pound, 4-legged brother to hang with all the time. I'd say she hit the jackpot! You deserve a great life, Miss River!

Going to my new home with my big brother. I already love him!

I just thought I'd send a quick update on Miss River. She's been working hard on her manners to be ready for her furever home. It's been so cold out that we haven't had a chance to work on her leash skills, but that will come. She's been pretty good with free roam of the house. She did find one of my shoes (my fault-closet floor) to chew on one day while we were at work. River's a smart cookie--it was an old shoe, so I didn't mind that much. We now know to pick everything up or it's fair game! Contact your Placement Advisor if River is the girl for you!

River's favorite spot: in a comfy bed by a window

Hi, everyone! I hope you all are staying warm out there! River and the rest of us have been cuddling as much as we can all weekend!

River is now stuck with the old guys and cats again as Skylar went back to school with our son. Life is not nearly as exciting or fun without Skylar here. She likes to teach River the ropes and is also a great role model for all of our dogs. We can't wait until she can come back again in a few weeks. This makes us think that River would absolutely love another pal around the house to keep her busy. We are now focusing on more training and leash time to keep her challenged and occupied. She needs the activity for her body and brain.

River still seems a little skittish when it comes to men. It just seems to take her longer to warm up to the men in the house. After that, she's full of kisses! She's really improved on her snapping at the other dogs if they try to come and sit by me (FM) on the couch or bed. We're also working on "down" and "no" since she tends to jump and mouth when she gets overly excited. That is getting better as well! She has made so much progress since coming into RAGOM.

River will make someone a great addition to the family. Let her show you all the love and appreciation that she has in her heart! Please contact your Placement Advisor to meet Miss River!

A soft place to lay my head!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! I decided it's time for me to write my own update. Foster Mom's get kind of boring sometimes...

I've had a busy couple of weeks getting used to my new home and friends. It's been really cool because I've had someone exactly my own age to play with named Skylar. We have fun running inside and out and rolling all over the place. My two resident brothers are older, so I can be a little much for them sometimes. They give me "the look" and I know right away to back off! I have proven to everyone here that I can get along with just about everyone--even cats! My favorite cat here thinks she's a dog, so she's right up my alley. I'll chase her every once in a while, but it's all in fun!

Wrestle time!

FM has been working with me on my manners. It's a lot to remember, but I think I'm starting to get a few things down. I eat nicely with the other dogs and come when I am called and can sit when she tells me to. When I first got here, I was super protective of my FM and would get a little snarky with anyone that tried to come near her on the couch. I've learned we'll all get our special time with my FM and FD (and Nate and Brooke).

I've really lucked out by coming into the RAGOM family. I have a warm place to live, plenty of food to eat, and humans and other animals that love me. My new year's resolution is to find my own family to give me the same things and for me to give them unconditional love and happiness. Coming from the place I came from (a hoarding house with 30 other dogs) to where I am now is just wild! I like to show my love and gratitude with kisses. Let your Placement Advisor know that you'd love to meet me! Oh, and I'd be happy as your one and only if you have lots of time for me. or I'd love a playmate to show me the ropes. FM also says to tell you she thinks I'd be a great walking/running partner too because I'm in such great shape!

Happy Holidays to our RAGOM family! We hope good things come to everyone in the coming days and new year!

We are excited to have a new girl at our house. Miss River moved from the city to the country last Wednesday and has made a great adjustment. I credit that to her previous FM and FD doing such a great job with her! Thank you for sharing her with our family!

River has had a very tough background and is fortunate to have found RAGOM, and RAGOM is so lucky to have found her! River came from a hoarding situation and was rescued with 30 other dogs. She was then boarded at the humane society until we could get in and help them out. From where she came from until now, River has grown by leaps and bounds. She still is hesitant with new situations, people, and sounds, but works through that quickly.

River is such an incredible girl; it's really remarkable how well-adjusted she is. She is a HUGE lover and likes nothing better than to sit next to you on the couch and lay her head in your lap. She also likes to sleep next to her humans, not at the end of the bed, but right next to them. How cozy does that sound?

I do think River could do well with a confident dog in her family. She does like to engage our resident dogs in play, two that are her size and my son's Golden Retriever. On the other hand, someone that is home a great deal and has time to work and play with River would be great too!

My hope for this beautiful girl with the adorable ears is a new family to love her in the new year. That's simply all that she wants. Maybe you already know how wonderful it feels to give a worthy dog your love. There is nothing like it! If you've been thinking about it for a while, I urge you to follow your heart. I guarantee you won't regret it!

Oh, and when River's previous FM Laura said her whole backside shakes when she sees you in the morning, SHE WASN'T KIDDING! It's a great way to start a day!

How cute am I?
