Profile

Roco is a purebred male Golden Retriever with a lovely golden coat. He came into RAGOM from a shelter in Missouri. He might have a neurological issue with his back end: no pain, just an odd gait/walk. He is doing great in our home with two other dogs and three cats and a fenced-in yard. Completely housebroken. Roco is a love bug. A quieter home with older children who are experienced with dogs is preferable for Roco.

This is my last foster update for Roco—a fantastic family has adopted this lovely, beautiful rescue boy. Roco has been doing so well, and I just adore him. What a long way this guy has come, and now he will be “King Golden” of his new home with nothing but the best love, toys, food, and attention 24/7!

It was very difficult for me to let this outstanding love of mine go. However, we are so fortunate to be allowed to foster these magnificent Goldens and give them a piece of our hearts and a new beginning in life—the way it should be.

Another benefit of fostering and the RAGOM adoption process are the wonderful families we meet who open up their homes and lives to take care of and love these rescued dogs forever.

The adoption process also gives us, as fosters, the chance to help and love yet another Golden in need, to give yet another piece of our hearts to these wonderful animals. And so the foster/adoption rescue process continues. Roco, I miss you and love you so, and I know you are in the best home ever!

Roco continues to do absolutely great. He does so well with our pack and enjoys visitors, too. He is a real people dog and is enjoying his Golden life.

Roco is incredibly sweet, ever so gentle, and mindful of rules and limits. And yes, he is very content with his newly found Golden life and taking in all the love! He may be eight years old, but he feels and acts like a toddler. He romps in the back yard, walks with his head up, taking it all in. He is loving life now and we adore him!

We’re so thankful to RAGOM for rescuing these dogs and giving them the best path ever. It’s amazing how resilient and forgiving these Goldens are. We admire their courage and trust to move forward and learn how wonderful life can be and share that with us, who have much to learn from these dogs.

Please consider sponsoring Roco or other foster dogs so RAGOM can continue to rescue these wonderful Goldens.

Roco continues to be just wonderful. During a busy couple of weeks (my senior mother was in the hospital but is much better now), my brother flew in from California to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to help me with Mom. Roco handled the stress and the comings and goings like a champ.

My brother fell in love with this big boy, as you can see in these photos. Roco loves his humans and is so gentle. He and my brother would lie on the floor together and snuggle. We had our 6-month-old grandchild visiting and that, too, went well (with proper supervision of course).

Roco enjoys kisses and snuggling.

We discovered Roco likes those thin rawhides, and he will sometimes carry a stuffed toy around. He sees our Corgi go nuts and run around with his stuffed toy, and Roco is not quite sure what to think of that! He also loves his doggie beds.

Roco listens very well and definitely knows his name and “come.” He loves his Foster Dad and wants to be near him. Roco’s golden mahogany coat is so beautiful in the sun. More to come on this grand guy—a typical Golden who loves to be home all day with his family.

Such a beautiful boy!

Meet Roco, a stunning male purebred Golden Retriever. Roco came to us from another state and had a long long, ride here to South Dakota. He is 8 years old, weighs 75 pounds, and is a beautiful golden color. Roco has a gentle loving personality and, like all Golden Retrievers, loves his attention.

His back end is a little odd. We were thinking arthritis; however, the vets feel it is more a neurological issue. He does not seem to be in any pain whatsoever and currently is not on any medications. He rides great in the car and gets in/out just fine. Due to freezing weather, we have only had a couple walks, but he does beautifully. Just lovely to walk!

Roco can be either an only dog or with other dogs. He does fine with our pack. However he and the male Corgi don’t always see eye to eye: typical herding dog claiming his place and yard! Roco is an outstanding, loving beautiful Golden! We just adore him, and he is fitting in beautifully. He has the routine down, loves his treats (has the softest mouth ever), kisses, etc.

Due to Roco's size, a home with younger children is not advised. But he does well with dog-savvy older children. He seems to ignore our three cats. He loves his big dog beds and sleeps fine all night. He enjoys romping in the fenced backyard and is totally house-trained.
