A few days ago, we welcomed Rooney to the RAGOM family. Rooney is a beautiful 15-month-old Golden Retriever, female, spayed. She is UTD, and has been on HW preventative and Frontline. She is 67 lbs of pure puppy and love. In Rooney's previous home, she was loved and well cared for. She is house trained and crate trained. Her previous family taught her how to sit, lay down, stay, and give her paw. She has gone to dog parks, doggie daycare (did not want to leave), and has play time with a neighbor's dog her entire life.

Rooney joined the pack of three resident dogs and a foster sister, Missy/Jojo 13-061, and three cats. She loves all the dogs and is curious about the cats. When she starts to chase a cat, a simple verbal correction and she stops. She loves to retrieve balls and, I think, will be a great Frisbee dog.

Rooney will require a physical fence as her recall is selective, and if something is on the other side of the fence, she will try to force the gate. She can open doors if not totally latched. She would do best in a home with children five and older and a young dog to play with.

Rooney has not had much leash time and can really pull. I have been walking her with the Gentle Leader and she is doing much better. She still has puppy behaviors, which are age appropriate. She will get your shoe or check out what is on top of the counter, basically anything she can find. She is a teenager and will be like that for another year. She will require exercise, twice a day every day. She would make an excellent therapy dog. Obedience class to bond with a new owner would be a great start.

Both Rooney and Rooney's adoptive family hit the jackpot today. Rooney and her new fur sister became friends right off the start. Rooney will have a full-time mom at home who will be taking the two girls and a couple of neighbor dog friends walking every day in the woods. Rooney will have several playmates and every Saturday will be going to "fun" agility class. In a few weeks, she will be going down south for the winter where she will have a pool to cool off in and more new fur friends to meet. Rooney will also be taking classes to be a certified Therapy dog like her fur sister Maggie.

Rooney is a one-in-a-million dog and she got a one-in-a-million forever home!

Miss you my "perfect" girl. FM
