Rosey (Lovie 07-559)

Profile

Meet Lovie.  She is a very scared little girl rescued from a horrible puppy mill in Missouri.   She was born on 7/26/06 so that makes her almost 14 months old.  She's still a puppy herself which makes it so sad that she's probably going to have puppies soon.  She only weighs 43 lbs. so we will try to put some weight on her before she delivers.  She went to the vet today and got a check-up.  She's currently being treated for an ear infection.  Thankfully she tested negative for heartworm so she got a dose of Heartguard.  She's already been microchipped and will be scheduled for an ultrasound next week.  More to come on this little sweetie soon.

Lovie 07-559, now Rosey, was the most amazing sweet little girl!!! It has been very hard to send this in because we loved her so much and saying good-bye has been hard.

She grew into a free spirit, loved life, loved the water. She had the biggest smile, she was so happy! Her last summer she became so confident that she would just hang out under the pontoon looking for fish by herself. When she would come out of the water she would shake and shake and water would just keep flying.

She started with short pale bristly hair and with good food and knowing she was loved her hair became amazing! She taught us alot about life, Love, compassion.

On July 31st, 2012 Rosey passed away, just a week after her 6th birthday from brain cancer. We had four wonderful years with her. She passed knowing she was very much loved.

In Rosey's memory we adopted another puppy mill girl, just like her. Her name is Dorie 12-103, now named Ava. I know Rosey is up smiling down at Ava telling her life will be great.

Thank-you again Ragom for all that you do!

John and Diane
Adrian,Gracey, Rosey's four legged sisters and from Ava who will fill the huge spot left behind.

Rosey is smiling at all of us!

Here is Auntie Lovie getting to know the new arrivals, Ian & Mia.  All the dogs hang out together in the office when I'm working and they get along very well.

Here is a picture of Lovie and Nicely cuddling together.  I was very surprised to walk into the office and see them both in the same crate.  Nicely is twice as big as Lovie and it's hard to believe they both fit but I have the picture to prove it.  Aren't they cute together?  As soon as Nicely saw me it was time to get out and get some pets.  Lovie hung out for a while.  She really likes her crate.

Lovie has seen many dogs come and go in her foster home.  She either takes an instant liking to another dog or she doesn't.  It's fun to see when she really clicks with another dog because they play and play and play.  Don't get me wrong ~ she gets along with all dogs.  But it's like she transforms into a totally different dog when she finds a foster brother or sister she really connects with.  I hope she finds that in her forever home.

We have discovered that Lovie likes to eat poop.  Now we pick it up almost as soon as it hits the ground.  I know it's not unusual for dogs to do this, especially PM dogs,  but it's just so disgusting!  Lovie never gets a chance anymore.  Hopefully she'll lose the urge over time.  Yuk!

Here's Lovie and the resident puppy snuggling on the couch.  Lovie likes to be comfortable.  You can usually find her on the bed, couch, or in her cushioned crate.  It might be hard for her to adjust to a home that doesn't allow her on the furniture since she spends the majority of her time on our furniture.  Lovie is meeting a potential family after Christmas so keep your fingers crossed for our little Lovie.

Another week has gone by in foster care.  Lovie got her first taste of snow this morning.  She didn't know what to think of it.  She was afraid at first but soon she was running and jumping in it.  She is by far the easiest foster dog we've had.  You hardly even know she's here unless it's time for a walk.  She gets so excited when she sees the leashes.  I'm sure it's the highlight of her day.

Lovie continues to amaze us with her progress.  I would say she's 100% housetrained now.  She's eating well and gaining some weight, although she will always be a petite girl.  We take her on regular walks now.  When she first came to us we could only go half a block before she decided she had enough.  Now she walks nicely on a leash.  She does startle easily but she's getting better every day.  She loves to run and play with her foster brother.  It's so cute to see them chasing each other around the big tree in our backyard. Lovie absolutely loves bones and usually has an assortment of bones and toys surrounding her.  She is very cuddly and has a wonderful temperament.  She will make some lucky family very happy.

Good news ~ Lovie had her ultrasound yesterday and she is definitely not pregnant.  She is nearing the end of her cycle and shouldn't be spayed for six weeks.  Then she will be ready for her forever home.  Lovie continues to make great progress.  It's hard to believe she is the same dog we first met 11 days ago.  She is gradually losing her shyness and becoming much more playful.  You can see the difference in her pictures.  She looks so scared in the first two and much more relaxed in the third.  We are also fostering her mom Pudding 07-522 (pictured) and temp fostering her sister Cari 07-560.  Having her family with her has really brought her out of her shell.  The house training is coming along great.  We have a puppy at our house so I'm in the habit of letting all the dogs out frequently.  It seems to be working.  We haven't had any accidents in a very long time.  Even though she doesn't know basic commands yet she is super easy to have around.  She is not destructive and doesn't seem to have any bad habits.  She is just the sweetest little girl you could ever meet.
