There’s been a whole lot of action for me this last week. I just got back from the groomer and she adored me. I played with several other Australian Shepards while I was there too. The pictures here were taken before my haircut and don’t really do me justice but they’ll have to do. I weigh 75 lbs and I’m a 10 year old golden. I’ve been an outside dog all of my life. I’ve been in a kennel all of that time. It’s been great since I’ve been here. I love other dogs and I live with one now, Skoey. We all go for walks daily so I’ve met other dogs and I get along with them fine. I love having visitors and enjoy kids as well. I don’t bark unless I see something that I’m not sure what it is. Tons of wildlife here and I leave other animals alone as well.

I’m from Southern Minnesota and enjoy being here outside because I can wander around all day. But I don’t think I need a fence. When they take me for walks I stick close by. And I listen to my name really well. I’ve been in the indoors and haven’t had any accidents yet. I’m allowed to roam but not unsupervised yet because I’ve never been on my own indoors. I enjoy the crate and that’s what I’ve been sleeping in at night. Skoey, their resident, gets full roam of the house 24/7 and they tell me they’ll train me so I can do that too. I’m real excited about that. I’m very respectful of my surroundings including the crate I’m in.

I visited the vet last week. I’ve had heartworm since the winter but I’m going to get taken care of next week. Everything else is normal and the vet says I’m in excellent shape and I should heal just fine from my heartworm treatment. You wouldn’t even know I have it but they tested me to confirm and it’s what I have.

While I’ve been here they’ve given me many toys to play with and I like that as well. They give me interesting things to chew and keep myself busy here which is good. Skoey and I share all the toys and I’m good about that as well.

I have to go. We’re going outside to play ball. See you later!

We have a cat here this week. “Herb” and I have gotten along just fine.  I also have a former foster of theirs, Howie, who is staying for a few days.  He and I are the same age and get along great!  There has been a houseful here, but we’re all being good so everything is smooth so far.

I’m still going for walks daily and I really like it.  The neighborhood kid brought some of his friends over so I got to play with some young boys that were a lot of fun.  I really like to be outdoors but I’m real good indoors too.  They say I’ve had no accidents so they consider me house-trained.  They were gone a couple of hours last week and left me free to roam the house all by myself.  They seemed kind of nervous but of course I “held the fort down” real good so they have great confidence in me.

I still have manners to learn.  For example, I get locked in the crate while they are preparing or eating because I’m not sure what to do.  They’re building my confidence and teaching me manners but don’t get me wrong……I am a very good dog.  I’ve just never really been indoors….but I’m not as nervous as I once was.

Since it’s been cool I’ve been fortunate to ride in the car and I really like that.  There are two of us dogs that sit in the back.  I like to have my head out the window, but they don’t let me put my head out too often.   They brought me swimming last week which I really enjoyed.  I went swimming with Skoey!  I am ten years old, but I have a lot of energy.  I love to play with Skoey….we love to take each other’s games and tease each other.  I’d never hurt another dog……I totally respect their belongings…but I do like to play with the dogs!

I love attention but I do know when to go away if you are busy…..and I’m a real cuddler.  The thing I love best is getting my ears rubbed.
