Let me have the pleasure of introducing RAGOM's newest family member, Sweet Daisy. I really do not know where to begin with her as far as history, because she has a lot. The first year of her life remains a mystery. She was only 1 year old when she was dropped off at a breeder to be bred, but the owner left the country and never returned for her.

Well, unfortunately the breeding was a success, and Daisy had a litter of pups. At this point Daisy is already a very scared and timid dog. She will not let anybody near her, or love her at such a critical time of her life. Daisy lived on this land for a 1 1/2 yrs, on her own in the woods.

Daisy has 4 Guardian Angels in her life by the name of DeeAnn, Wendy, Sue and Robin. They were aware of Daisy's situation and actually were the ones who rescued her pups. As time went by, the owner finally agreed for them to come and take 3 dogs of his off his property. These were, Sam 07-690 and Peggy 07-650. Sam and Peggy were easy to rescue, but Daisy is another story. She was captured, transported over to a different area, but then got loose. There she ran for another 2 weeks, but always stuck around the area of the cabin. There she was fed, but once again would never let anyone near her. She would actually bring her empty bowl up to the cabin to let them know she was hungry, and would run around the cabin and bark and howl, just so she could see somebody in the window. Once they would come out the door, she would run down the driveway and head back into the woods.

It was very clear that the wolves were moving in on Daisy, so her Angels knew it was now or never that they get her out of there. They set a live trap but clever little Daisy knew how to avoid setting it off, so a little more brain storming had to go into this process. Her angels were getting worried about Daisy because of the paw prints from wolves that were leading to the cabin and where Daisy slept. They knew their time was very limited. They went to great lengths to ward them off, even pouring human urine around the area to keep them away.

New Years Day was Daisy's lucky day. The live trap finally worked and after many tears, the ladies were finally able to send Daisy onto her new life. After hearing all the stories about Daisy it is very clear that she really does want to be loved, but just does not know how to allow that to happen. There is not a aggressive bone in her body, just very sweet, and extremely scared of people.

Due to Daisy's lack of socialization and obvious flight risk, she is not available right now, but I know this girl yearns for companionship, so one day she will be looking for her forever home. She does have Lymes, but is getting treated for that. She also has been spayed and UTD on shots. I look forward to helping this girl blossom into her new life, and watch her move onto a deserving life she never had. It is quite clear Daisy has been traumatized some time in her life to be the way that she is. When you look into her big brown eyes, you know that there has been some very bad history which was probably in the first year of her life. The gentleman who owned the property never harmed Daisy in any way, and actually made sure she had food set out for her. I just wanted once again to thank Daisy's angels for putting aside their own busy lives and going through many great efforts to help this girl out. And after talking with them I agree, with the weather and wolves on her trail, her time was very limited up there. They can finally not worry, and be at peace with their little girl.

Dear Daisy,

Yesterday you left our home with your new Mom, Dad and fur brother Madie. My heart took a beating as you left, but you need to trust me on this decision for you to move on to this next chapter in your life. As much as I will miss you, I feel so grateful for you to have been a part of my life and most importantly for the G Family to want you as one of their family members.

After they left from their visit with us, I was so excited for you to have such a caring, compassionate couple who even after hearing about your past stressful life, your very strong lack of trust in humans and let's not forget about all your countless shoes and slippers you have somehow snuck off with and decided to use as a chew toy, they still said yes, she is perfect for us. There are few families who could take you on, so I know you have a Guardian Angel watching over you that sent the G family our way. I have such a good feeling about you spending your Golden years with them. Even though I did not want to take my protective arms that have been wrapped around you for so long, it was time to release them and allow your new family to love and cherish you as we all did here. They will have all the patience and love for you to continue to blossom, so be brave my sweet girl, I promise you that you have finally reached your final destination to a loving home. You my girl, are so deserving of this family.

I cannot wait for you to start to to feel comfortable there so you can start to show them your cute little personality that you have. How, when you know it is time to eat you get so excited, you jump up on your hind legs and dance around. Or when you want to join in on a game of wrestling you approach so timidly, but still come up with your little hinder shaking with excitement and began to gently paw at us to let us know that you want to play too. And yes I'm sorry, but I had to give them a heads up that you are a true pack rat. If something comes up missing, first place to go is Daisy's crate and began to dig through all of her little prized possessions that she has found throughout the house. You must have planned on giving yourself a manicure when I came across that bottle of nail polish in your bedding. Just last night FD asked if anybody saw one of his slippers, and your FS Ellie's first response was, did you look in Daisy's crate? Or another time when Ellie's favorite stuffed animal came up missing. As she was looking around the house for it, I heard her mumble under her breath that she will probably find it in Daisy's crate. You have left me with so many fond memories of you, that whenever I will think of you, you will always put a smile on my face.

And boy did you prove a lot of people wrong. Do you know how many times I heard you would not come around. Or how I could read the minds of people who had the same thought, but just did not have the heart to tell me. But then you also had your fans who were always excited to hear about Daisy's latest update and progress. I always knew you had it in you, you just needed a little guidance from your foster fur siblings Billy, Sydney and of course big Ol Lucky.

Daz, I know you never met this lady by the name of Oprah, but little do you know how she has had a HUGE impact on your life. She is the reason you have been so fortunate to have found your new family. You see, the G family had planned on going out and getting another puppy from a breeder for their sweet Madie to play with. But after watching the Oprah episode on puppy mills, they knew that it was not a option to go that route, searched out a rescue group. They remembered seeing RAGOM at the state fair, so they looked them up on the net, came across your sweet adorable face, and fell in love with you. My only wish is that more animals in need will be as fortunate as you were.

Even though the last time you saw us we had tears in our eyes, but just remember they were also tears of happiness for you. You are such a strong willed girl and you have come so, so far. I'm very proud of you and I will be counting down the days when I can come visit you next month, and if there is one thing that you can do for me, please do not be to hard on their shoes and slippers :0).

Oh by the way, your new name, Sadie? I love it!!!!

As you can see Daz is doing great!

She is turning out to be such a faithful little companion. She has come to the point where she does not like to have me out of her sight so she pretty much follows me everywhere now. For the last couple of days I have been laid up in bed with strept throat, so whenever I would go back to bed she would follow me and lay next to my bed while I slept. Daz would lay there very patiently for a couple of hours and just simply wait for me to get up. When I would finally get up, she would get so excited and wag her little tail like crazy. She is that special nurse that everybody would love to have at their side. She is the best medicine that anybody could have!

Daisy has let it be known that she is no longer going to stay back while everybody else gets attention. She has become very jealous when the other fur kids approach me and will push her way through them, just to make sure she gets the attention. Daz has even began to paw and gently bite at mine and my daughter's hand to let us know she wants to join in on the rough housing that goes on around here.

Daisy has only had one accident in the house in the last week, and is catching on to letting us know she has to go potty. She will get very antsy and give us that look... "What are you waiting for", "Lets go"! She will then head us to the back door to be let outside. She is so cute as she is always looking back to make sure we are following her to that very important destination. We are just so proud of her!

Since the virus has been bouncing from one person to another in our house, I have not had the time to work with Daisy on her walking, but I will try to get to that this week. With the love she has found with her Kong filled with peanut butter, I think it is time we try to get out and exercise!

Thanks for following Daisy's progress and baby steps as she adventures through her new life as a family member. She really has become a sweet girl, and will make a special family very happy to have her become one of their own.

Daisy continues to show her inner beauty more and more everyday. She now comes up for hugs and kisses and even honored me with a Valentine kiss on my check yesterday. Cupid must have finally caught up with her and struck her with his arrow. Daisy enjoys hanging out with her gang, and even joins in on Sydney and Billy's wrestling matches. She even tolerates Billy using her leg as a chew toy. But it is very obvious that she enjoys this because as soon as he is done, she paws at him for more attention.

I no longer have to sit out in the arctic air with her when she has to go potty. I just stand by the door and wait for her to finish up, then she runs right back in the house. I do keep her leash on her in case I need to make a fast catch and I make sure that she has me in sight so she does not get nervous and began to panic. I really do not think she has any desire to escape anymore. Daisy's safe haven is now inside the house.

Daisy did have a visit from a wonderful couple last weekend who were interested in her. They just adored her, but it is clear that Daisy is not ready to move on yet. She was just too timid and scared while they were here, so our little princess is stuck with us for a while.

This little girl who we never heard a peep out of her has now began to show us she can be very vocal. She has began to bark quite a bit at every little noise, so we are trying to work on that with her. But I think she is just showing us that she is very comfortable here, and is just protecting her domain. Now, she just has to learn that she does not need to bark when somebody drops the remote, or at the fish in the tank when they swim past her, when somebody walks down the hallway or when somebody shuts their car door out in front of the house. Get the idea? It is safe to say that Daisy has not suffered any hearing loss. She has excellent hearing!!!!

Sweet little Daisy continues to show us more and more every day that she wants to be a part of our family. She has now only been with us for 20 days, and has made some incredible progress. She is figuring out that life inside of the crate has become quite boring, so she has begun to venture out more and more each day. She has now begun to follow me around the house, and even started to venture upstairs on her own. She will come up to me for attention and gently sniff and lick my hand to let me know she is there.

But I must say, my proudest moments for her are when she sat on my lap and let me massage her for about 1/2 hr. And then last night she jumped into my daughter's bed with the rest of the pack and slept next to her head all night long. I did not have the heart to put her in her crate when I went to bed, so I kept my fingers crossed that there would be no surprises on the floor in the a.m. Guess what? No surprises!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!

She is getting so much better on going outside now. I only use her harness, as she does not fight me on this anymore. When I call her name, then ask her to go outside she will come running. She usually runs right to the door, and waits patiently for her leash to be put on her. When she gets outside, she shakes her body around then wags her tail in excitement. She still only likes to be out there to do her business, then wants to get in ASAP. I think this has become a game to her, because on the way back to the house she runs, pulling me right along and looking behind her shoulder at me wagging her tail. Daisy is only 40 lbs, but do not let her size fool you. She is very strong.

She is so cute when it comes to getting the other dogs to play with her. She will slowly walk up to them, and gently paw at them. You can tell she is trying so hard to be their friends and looking for their approval to be part of their pack. She is just the most tender, sweetest girl.

One sad thing that I have noticed about Daisy is that I feel she has been abused at some time in her life. If you remember at the beginning of her story I wrote how the first year of her life remains a mystery. Well, I know when she was dropped off at the property she was already very skittish. When we are at home here, we have to be very careful around her when we have objects in our hand. If we make any fast movement, she acts like we are going to throw the object at her. She will squint her eyes, her tail will drop between her legs and she will make a run for her crate. She has many characteristics of an abused animal. But, that would explain why she isolated herself from humans for the last 1 1/2 yrs.

Considering Daisy's past history, I thought she would be here for an extended visit, but this sweetie is proving me wrong. She is such a smart girl and has no problems catching on to the routine around here. Now that Daisy is starting to feel loved and appreciated for who she is, she is making every effort to show us deep down that she has the true golden personality. She is well on her way to her new life as a loving faithful companion.
