Sam 06-05-305

Profile

5/26/06: Sam arrived last night. He is a 3.5 year old big guy - I would guess 80-85 pounds. He is a Lab/Retriever mix. Very sweet & loves to give kisses. No issues with meeting the resident dog. He is a bit obsessed with the cat this morning. She doesn't seem to mind but we'll see how it goes. We will send more info later, once we get to know each other better.

Trying to get some new pictures of Sam. He and Bud (resident dog) were very active playing in the yard, so kind of hard to do. The sweetest thing happened today. Sam has an intuition for wounds and healing. I think he might make a great therapy dog. Bud had his vet appointment today. When we got home, Sam sniffed him over and licked his wounds! He's done this before and it surprises me. He is a genuine caretaker!

Wow! He amazes me everyday!

Isn't Sam great looking for a Golden in disguise!? Sam continues to amaze me with his gentleness and loving disposition. He & Bud (the resident dog) are romping buds. They love to play together. Sam has taken over the human bed & Bud has taken over Sam's bed. We have given up on the battle of going outside for "last call". I lost, Sam won. Sam has just decided he ain't going. Now I'm wondering if somewhere in his past, he was let out at night & not allowed back in....hmmm.... It sure is interesting trying to figure out these foster dogs.

So, Sam is enjoying his life and we are still waiting for that perfect forever family to come along. Sam loves to go for walks & car rides & is the perfect companion. He is so mellow, smart, loving, easy, greets you at the door so excitedly after that long day at work. Mister Big, aka Arnold says hi & is in no big hurry to move, unless of course, he could go swimming, running, sleep with a kid, have a nice fenced yard, good food,.... you get the picture...... E-mail Placementatragom [dot] org if he sounds like a match made in heaven, cause that's where he was made!

Hi all! My foster mom said it was ok for me to write a little bit about my life here in foster care. She's been really busy lately and said if I can type with my much needed manicure, she could go vacuum. Trying to help out here! I quit crying & barking when she leaves, cause now I know she always comes back & feeds us! Just want everyone to know how great it is here. I'm not so depressed anymore. I kind of got a "kick" to my walk again! I'm feeling good! Life is good! Man, it's hard adjusting to a new home. I never know what to expect.

I love going for car rides. Me & Bud just hang out in the back seat. I love going for walks, too! Mom puts this thing on my nose that I don't like, but I'm big & strong & like to walk my way. I guess that's not how we're supposed to do it, so I gotta go for walks with this stupid thing on my nose, but I can get it off with a little effort! I figured out this toy that squeaks! They laugh at me....I guess I'm coming out of my shell & feeling like myself again.

I love the other furry thing that lives here, too. I guess it's called a cat. She fascinates me! I also love playing with Bud. The other day I got carried away & chewed his collar off. Mom wasn't happy with me, but we sure had fun. So, my mom says she loves me & I can just live here for however long it takes to find my perfect forever family. I like that feeling. I am safe, I have fun, I don't get in trouble, I don't get yelled at, the food is great, lots of toys to play with....like I said, life is good! Gotta go get a nap in now.

Sam, aka Arnold (the Terminator), aka Mr. Big.

Here's a picture of Sam, Dixie 06-240, and resident dog, Bud. They all get along great, although sometimes I think Sam acts more like an old man than a 3.5 year old! Could be that he needs to lose a few pounds, could be he's just an old soul. Sam weighed in at 79.9 pounds. He is a big, lovable, lay around kind of guy. Sam went to the vet & was very patient with the poking & prodding. He is all up to date now. Sam is not your typical hyper Golden/Lab mix. He does not destroy toys, rugs, or your shoes! He is totally housetrained and has not had one accident in the house. He just follows you everywhere, if not just napping away at your feet, lays in the yard with his nose in the air. He is not an excessive barker, but will let you know there's a stranger going by. I like that! Sam's perfect forever family could include kids, cats, a companion dog, but not necessary, a single person, or older couple. He is a very easy dog with no difficult issues to contend with. Oh, I take back the bed hogger update. Sam has decided he likes the human bed & he IS a bed hogger! He is a great sleeper & doesn't go for being awakened to move over! (I know, bad foster mom!) We get to decide to spoil our fosters until they find their forever home, who will do the same. I just can't say enough about how sweet & lovable this guy is, just waiting patiently for us to find his perfect forever home.
