Here's Sophie!

Sophie is a 7-year-old purebred Golden. She came from a very loving home and mistress. We are lucky to foster her. She was born and raised in a townhouse and is use to a tie-out. She isn't a Velcore dog, but likes to be where you are. She needs 2 walks a day, which she enjoys. She weighs 60 pounds, walks great on a Gentle Leader, pulls on a leash. Loves car rides, little barking, loves the water, which I found out when I visited my sister and she flew into a very skunky pond. Bath #1. She was very good in the bath.

She went to the vet yesterday and received a clean bill of health. She may have some seasonal allergies. The vet suggested a change of food, so we will try that. She is not cat tested, but at the vet, she was very curious about the vet cats. She did have an altercation in her previous home, where she was attacked while tied up. It was determined she was just defending herself.

She does jump when someone new enters; I'm working on that. She can sit, settle, come. She seems to have some selective hearing. She has been exposed to other dogs, but needs slow introductions. Right now, I would say an only dog forever home and no cats. Someone who will include Sophie in their family activities. I will check her out with kids this weekend. Maybe not small children.

She will be at the Edina Chuck and Dons's on Saturday, 6/7.

Updates

It has been about one month since we adopted Sophie and what a wonderful month it has been!  Sophie's FM described her as "too good to be true" and we couldn't agree more!  We have fallen in love.

Here's what we have learned about Sophie:

* She loves to go on walks and walks so nicely with the gentle leader.  She's even made some new 4 legged friends in the neighborhood!* She loves to swim!  It's so much fun to bring her to the lake and watch her have fun.  She doesn't even need you     to throw a tennis ball in...she just flies in on her own! * She loves to find sticks and break them into small pieces!  * She is gentle and a sweetheart with everyone she meets and has done very well with our three children!* She loves Frosty Paws (ice cream treats for dogs)!  The kids found these at the grocery store and they just had     to get them for her!  * She loves coming with in the car whenever she can!  We love to bring her with and include her in as many outings as we can!  She's so good in the car.* She loves to play ball, frisbee, etc.  With three kids she's always got someone to play with!

We would like to thank everyone who helped us during our process of adoption.  This has been such a wonderful experience and we could not be happier!  We are so lucky to be Sophie's forever family!
