Timber (Bonita 07-501)

Profile

 (Now known as "Timber")

Bonita means pretty in Spanish, and she is a very pretty girl. She is a big girl and just loves attention. We have only had her a couple of days, but she has really taken to the lake. We throw anything and she will retrieve it from the lake, but she also likes to just swim. She does really well riding in the car and is very friendly with all the new friends she has met, people and other dogs. She walks best on a gentle leader as of yet. She hasn't had any training but she does seem to be picking up the rules of the house real well. She is a joy to have around. And best of all she is fully house trained! She will be visiting the veterinarian this week to update all her shots.

It is with a very sad & heavy heart that I needed to help my Timbergirl cross over on 1/1/17. She made it thru the holidays but she finally had enough pain and she looked me in the eyes, something she had never done before and I knew she was telling me it was time to end her pain and let her run free.

She had kidney disease stage 4 .IMPA disease since 2013. She also had arthritis on 1 of her hind legs. She was my 5th foster dog and I knew when I fostered her that she was home to stay. She lived to be 10 1/2 yrs old. A very spoiled girl. She let all the foster dogs know she was the queen of the house.

She will be missed a lot, but she lived a great life and never wanted for anything. She is running pain free and eating all the kibble & grass she wants with her fur-friends Champ-Nick- Ender-Shorty.

This was a very hard decision to make but I knew it was the right one for all of us. Many tears were shed before during and afterwards. The University of Minnesota was very compassionate helping us with Timbers crossing.

We always talk about quality of life. She had 9 great years living with us. I would rather suffer than have her be in pain. Run free Timbergirl. We will see you again soon.

I have included a few pictures. She so loved the snow. Waiting for the ball to be thrown in her backyard during her younger years. She also loved to spend time with our senior residents when she came to work with me which was a couple times a week. A lot of extra attention.

Timber will be missed a long time by our family. But I keep telling myself shes pain free now!

From Timber/Bonita's forever family...

We adopted Timber/Bonita on 4/15/08 . She has been with us for over a year now and she is just as stubborn as the day we adopted her but we love her any way. She was my 5th Foster and she just made herself at home the minute she came into our home. She loves her soft balls, she can carry 5 in her mouth at one time. She can play all day long. The next best thing to ball playing is swimming and boy can she swim. We should have lived on a lake and she would have been in heaven. At what age do they mellow out? She's only 3 so I guess I have a ways to go.

We continue to foster goldens for RAGOM and she lets all the new foster dogs know she is the Queen of her house. Here is a picture of Timber & her friend Cady swimming in the pool. Timber is the blonde golden with the ball in her month.

Timber came to our foster home from boarding. This is my 2nd dog from boarding. Brought her to an event and couldn't bring her back. She has been with us ever since. She has captured our hearts and has a fancy for Champ. Timber has had a rough beginning to her life but will now have the golden life. It brings me great joy to have made it thru 4 fosters without adopting any of them. They were all great and I wanted to keep them all. Each one was special to me in their own way. But my RAGOM foster friends kept saying foster them and find them a great home and take another. Well I did that four times. But the 5th time I just couldn't seem to look for families, that I guess was my first sign that she was meant to stay with us. Because I believe we are the best family for her. We just fell in love with her. Thank you for reading up on Timber and know she will have a great life with us. I have taken a few pictures for you to remember her by. She will be in other pictures down the road with my next foster dog. Just look for the pretty blonde dog and that will be her.

Love Timber and her new adopted foster family

Come on Champ, you know you want to play

Ok Timber, I give up, you win

Timber went to PetCo on Saturday and met many wonderful people. She seemed to attract the kids and she just loved it. She behaved very well. No barking like allot of the other dogs.

She made her first trip to the Bloomington dog park. She smelled all the scents and seen lots of dogs there. We walked around the park 2 times and came in contact with allot of different dog with no problems. Oh course how much trouble can you get into when foster mom has her on a long leash and Champ and Sadie were following. So I think she would love to go again.

When she is in her forever home she won't need a leash she can run free. Timber is adjusting very well to our routines here. She is getting very comfortable. She is the perfect houseguest. No bad habits except she still likes to jump on the bed in the spare bedroom. We just close the door now. She does just fine during the day while we are at work. Loves her walks and play times. She plays with Champ every chance she gets. She will get her booster shots next week and then will be all up to date. Her medication is working well, no leakage that I have seen. The cost of the medicine is $25 a month.

I think she would do very well with older kids age 8 and up -- since she is very young she likes to jump up when she's excited. Another dog to play with to burn some energy off would be good too. She is young and loves to play. She still has allot of puppy in her. We are still working on give or drop the toy whichever one works although she is a little stubborn that's a woman for you.

More to come on Timber. She's a real beauty. She will make some family a wonderful pet and companion. If you are interested in meeting Timber let your placement advisor know or contact placementatragom [dot] org

Champ and Timber playing tug of war

Sunday, March 23, 2008

HI, it's me Timber. I'm doing my own update today cause foster mom is busy making Easter dinner. Well I am enjoying the good life. I get to go for walks, eat people food sometimes. I have been playing with Champ allot. I have lots of energy so he helps me burn it off. Company's coming over today so I should get lots of exercise & attention... not that I don't get allot already, but a dog can never get too much.

I got a new rawhide to chew on. Mom got me a large one and a new Frisbee. I chewed the other one up. I still like to chew a little but not on the furniture or anything like that. I don't destroy my toys. I don't have any accidents in the house. I am housetrained. I go to the door when I want out. I can be alone 8 hours while foster mom & dad are at work.

I love to be outside and just lay and roll in the snow. I have played with 4 dogs now - 3 female and 1 male. 2 of the females were alpha ones but it was ok cause I'm not. I get along with everyone. So I guess I could have a fur brother or sister or not in my forever home. Oh I'm still waiting. I am so pretty and a blonde and did I say I am a PB and I have papers too.

I see foster mom grabbing the car keys and when she gets the Gentle Leader out I know it's walk time. I get so excited that I run back and forth in the backseat of the car. I can't decide which window to look out. Foster mom is making a spa appointmentt for me to get a trim and bath this week. I will take pictures.

I do need some work on not jumping up. Foster mom & dad are working on this. I just get so excited cause I'm a young girl. Only 19 months old. I know sit, stay and come and lay down - that's pretty good for not even being 2yrs old yet. I will make a great walking partner, maybe even jogging partner. I will be a great companion to you as long as you love me and take good care of me.

Oh here comes company, Champ and Sadie are here for me to play with. Gotta go for now - I'll write more later. New pictures too.

Oh if you want to meet me you can contact placementatragom [dot] org or your placement advisor.

See ya soon,

Timber girl

Hey Champ....if we're gonna play tug o' war,
you need to grab an end, not the middle....

Sunday, March 2, 2008

Hi everyone Timber (formerly known as Bonita) here - I thought I'd start by letting you know a little bit about my history. I was returned to RAGOM because I have had some bladder issues. What little bit my weekend foster mom knows is that I have had surgery and am on medication for incontinence. (I dribble a little at times. Foster mom has not noticed this so far.) The medication is supposed to help me with the dribble.

SOOOOOO...I am on a weekend pass from boarding and got to my weekend foster's house on 2/28/08. Wow....I have been having so much fun. I was a really good girl on the car ride here, though I couldn't decide which window to look out first. I got to the house and met the resident Scottie, she thinks she is a big girl like me and tries to tell me so all the time. I sometimes forget that "Missy" the Scottie is a little dog and I try to back into her or stand right over her, I even try to paw at her to play with me more. What can I say....I forget that I am a big dog that has allot energy and I want to play. My foster parents for the weekend took me to the neighbor's fenced yard and I played with Lola the Visla....(did I spell that right?) It felt really good to run and play and roll in the snow. I actually got tired out...for a little while at least. I really like my humans to give me love and attention, if I think I need some more attention I will let you know by either jumping on you or backing up into you or even trying to sit in your lap. I bring toys to them all the time, I really like to play tug-a-war. Missy and I played this allot and she thought she would win at this game. I would pull so hard and she would not let go....The foster parents laughed at us because I would pull Missy across the hardwood floors.

I know some of my basic commands, they are Sit and Stay and down/off. I respect baby gates, even though I might stand up and lean against them to see more. I am a big beautiful and VERY strong girl, I can almost pull foster mom over (if she is not expecting me to pull) and even foster dad said that I am strong. They think a Gentle Leader would help me allot. The vet thinks I could stand to gain a little weight, I have allot of hair so it is hard to tell for sure. (My fosters for the weekend said that they can feel my ribs so a little weight might be good.) From what we know I really like the water. I jumped in the bath tub last night and got rinsed off, I did really well. (I like to drink from the faucet in the tub.)

Hopefully one of the pictures that I had taken this morning turned out. If not we will get more before I go back to boarding. If you want to meet me please let placementatragom [dot] org know. My weekend fosters can tell you how great I am!!! (They even said that they would visit me while I am at boarding and maybe spring me for long weekends for as long as I am there.)

Bonita has gone to her forever home. When she met Robert we knew it was a match made in heaven. She is a big strong dog and he is a young strong man; what could be better? She knew at once he was the guy for her. His wish was for a BIG dog and she sure is, his only hope is that she may even get bigger. They both walked out of the house with big smiles on their faces and we are sure Bonita will have the best life ever!
