Tobias (Rebel 11-188)

Profile

Hello - My name is Rebel and I am a PG Golden Retriever with an estimated age of 7-9.  I currently weigh 95 pounds, but I know that I need to lose at least 15 of that!  I am a gorgeous boy with a block head and sweet passionate eyes.  I came up to the great state of Minnesota from the corn husker state (Iowa for those of you that didn't get that!). I lost my family and was found as a stray.  Foster Mom knows that I used to have a family (remember the one that I lost?) because I understand how a house works, so far I go potty outside and I have already tested out the couch!

I have to tell you about the best thing about my foster home.  The best thing here is a beautiful, gorgeously figured, highlighted furr, beautiful brown eyed mature Golden Retriever Princess.  When I walked through the front door of my foster home there was a glow around her (insert romantic music here) and her sparkling presence is unexplainable.  She walks with her head high and has an unexplainable confidence about her.  Where has she been all of my life! I love her more than anything on this earth and have already showed her that I love her!  Foster Mom said that is why I will be losing the family jewels and apparently I won't feel the same way about her after that happens!  (Insert somber music here).

I have been told I am a gentle giant which is suppose to be a good thing I guess!  After I arrived here I immediately was given a bath, nails clipped, furr shaped, ears cleaned and furr brushed and brushed and brushed.  Stunning you say? ABSOLUTELY!!!

I am going to the doctor to get UTD and then sometime soon I will be losing the desire to love that stunning red head GR.  Drats!  Oh well, I think I will like hanging out here until I find a family that will love me forever!  I feel special because I know I will find a new family to love me but sad because I lost the first one.  I promise not to lose the second one!

Peace out home slice!

Our sweet Toby (Rebel 11-188) came to us last summer, a calm, gentle, dignified dog. He was a quiet presence, always happy to greet people at home or on walks, and the first dog we've had who wasn't afraid of storms or the vacuum cleaner. (One day when he declined to move out of the way, I put the brush attachment on and vacuumed him, he seemed to enjoy it!). Toby would walk into the tub (with help for his stiff legs) on request and patiently stay until invited to get out. A perfect car passenger, he usually rested his chin on the back seat and watched out the window. Toby excelled in napping, sometimes I'd wake him to let him know we'd returned. He loved a good rawhide or Frosty Paws and let Brie (chihuahua) cuddle with him.

He was starting to slow down over 2-3 weeks then became ill and progressed very quickly. With the vet's help his journey here ended on May 9. Thanks, RAGOM, for rescuing Toby. Though we didn't know his history or exact age, it was a joy to welcome him and see him claim us and our home as his. I miss that big guy!

Happy 4th of July to my friends and family in RAGOM world!  Well I absolutely am the happiest big guy!  The last few days have been so busy with multiple baths, walks, treats, good food and lots of rest combined with a lot of kisses and hugs.  I am such an easy going guy that I take it all in stride.  I also went to a RAGOM event on Saturday where I got to water every green thing which is always adventurous and exciting.  I met so many nice people and lots of dogs too!  So many special people came out just to see us!

Last night was particularly exciting though.  Two people came over and when they got out of the car I was so happy as I had already met the nice lady at the event on Saturday.  I was thinking to myself, is she a neighbor, perhaps she wanted to come over to our house to give me another pet or some more loving.  Well it was all too curious.  They also brought over a tiny little girl named Bree. She was a puppy mil girl for the first 8 years of her life and now she lived with this nice family.  We spent some time outside where I got to meet Bree.  I was very curious about her and my ears perked way up because frankly I think she is adorable and I wanted to be her friend.  I sniffed her and was very gentle, followed her around too and I really liked her.  This nice family and Bree came into the house and I continued to be the gracious host.  We visited and after an hour or so they left.  This morning my FM told me that they want me to be part of their family!  What?  Can you believe that?  A couple days ago I was sitting in a shelter wondering what was going to come of me!  And now I have found my forever family!  We think my new name will be "Sir" with something after that.  Pretty distinguished huh?  Wow, from losing my first family to finding another wonderful family, I must be the luckiest guy in the world!

I still need to be neutered and then I will be ready to go to live with my new family.  I attached a pic of me sitting in the vets lap!  Yep, I am a lap dog too!

Love,
Reb AKA Sir (something or other!)
