Tonka 07-452

Profile

This is Tonka, his is 2 years old and fostered in Aitkin, MN. Tonka came from a shelter in northern MN. He was brought in 6 times due to running away from his owners (or running to something). The 6th time he came in with quills in his face, neck and muzzle. And full of woodticks. The owner surrendered him at that time. This is where he has been for a month. The shelter had him vetted and found that he would be better off with RAGOM rescue. He is UTD on shots and neutered. He does need to go to the groomer, he is full of matts and has a slight smell of skunk when he gets wet. But this guy is a sweetheart. He is good with dogs of all gender. He is good with kids. NOT good with cats. He has not shown any aggression (until our cat swipped at him, for staring at her). He has not had any accidents in the house. We crated him next to our bed last night and not a peep out of him. But I think he was staring at our cat on the bed all night. Probably wondering why the cat gets bed rights and not him. He has the most pretty face. When this guy gets cleaned up he will look great. He does have swelling on his nose, and the vet will check that out. I think it might be left over from the quills. And he needs to be checked for Heartworms and microchipped. So stay tuned. If you are looking for a active 2 year old that is a very nice dog let RAGOM know.

Tonka has had a busy two days. He visited the Vet yesterday. He is heartworm negative!!! The doc thought the swelling on his nose is due to a piece of quill. He said it should migrate out on its own. He gave Tonka antibiotics to help in case it became infected. The swelling has already gone down since Sat. But said this should not stop him from going to a new home. He is microchipped. Today he went to the groomer to get rid of the mats. The mats were very close to the skin so the groomer had to groom him right down. And he is a very happy boy with out them. When his hair grows back, he will be a gorgeous golden. Right now he looks kind of yellow labish.     We have him on a long rope about 50 ft. when we are out with him and he does not go far. He did check out the neighbors beach, but decided he liked ours just as well and came back. He LOVES to swim and retrieve balls and sticks. And he is really good in the house. Still is infatuated with the cats.
