This handsome senior is Walter!  Walter was dumped in northern Iowa with 2 other senior dogs and taken in by some wonderful people who let the 3 of them sleep in the barn with assorted other animals.  We do not know his age but guess him to be over 10.  He is a sweet dog but does have some issues with his back legs.  The vet thinks that he had an injury to the right leg in the past that was never addressed so arthritis has set in making it painful for him to get up and down. We started him on a little pain medicine and I have to tell you, we have a new dog!  He now gets up to come see me when I get home and is always ready to go for a walk.  He actually came up our stairs last night to visit me in the computer room which he had not done in the 2 weeks that we have had him. He weighs in at about 85 pounds but is not overweight. He is just a very tall boy and very strong.  As a senior he does come with several lumps and bumps but the vet has looked at them and is not concerned.  He has gotten along great with our other 3 dogs (a chow mix, a Great Pyrenees mix and a Golden) but when charged by a little "ankle biter" that was loose, he did curl his lip a little.  But, I actually felt MY lip curl a little, so I would not hold that against him!!!  He always wants to meet and greet the people/dogs that we pass on our walks so I really wouldn't be concerned with him around anyone.

Walter deserves so much better than his previous family gave him and if you are looking for a sweet senior man to hang out with, this is your guy. Please contact RAGOM and we can visit!!

Walter has found his forever home with a very special couple from Illinois. They drove up to meet him last Sunday the 3rd of April and fell in love immediately. How could you not. It was a bitter sweet departure as I watched them drive away with Old Walter laying in the back of their van. I am 100 percent sure that his new family will love him as much as we did. They have 5 acres of fenced in property for him to walk around in and a wonderful one story house for him to live in. I fell in love with the couple that adopted him almost as fast as they fell in love with Walter.

I want to thank Walter's sponsors for helping him. I had Walter for a year and it was a blessed year. His presence was warming and it made me feel good to be able to provide saftey for a him as it was only a year ago he was found in a ditch in Iowa and now a year later he will now be loved as he deserves for the rest of his life. I am proud to be apart of this organization for this reason. Like I said the sadness came with great happiness in his departure. But my heart feels good. On Walter's behalf............thank you Ragom!!!!!!!!!

Walter is doing really good. His ear is all healed up and looks so much better. He has otherwise been real healthy this winter. I think he is looking forward to spring just as we all are. He did slip on the kitchen floor the other morning and had a hard time getting up. He still won't do the stairs in the house which is a good thing. He does do the few outside, which is just one step here and there. He was rolling on his back out in the snow, it was quite hilarious. He has such a youthfulness to him at times and is so charming. He still goes for my hand when it is hanging down thinking it is a piece of cheese. He doesn't bite, he just gums it! haha. Take care.

I am sorry I have not updated Walter in a long time. He is doing really good. After that HUGE snow fall I thought for sure we were gonna have problems, but YEAH we are not. He just looked at the back yard, looked back at me and gave a few barks and off went the other two foster brothers making trails for him. My neighbor also came over with his heavy duty snow blower and made paths for him.

I would also like to say thank you and God Bless to the sponsors for Walter. Although he is old, his spirit is young. He is no trouble to have around, he simply loves to be loved and warm and well fed haha. We have a ritual that we do in the morning with his medicine and a piece of cheese, it is really funny and if I put my hand down by my side while opening the refrigerator sometimes he thinks my hanging hand is food and starts gumming my hand. HILARIOUS!!!! He loves his foster brothers as you can see in the picture and no that is not his glass of wine on the table next to the chair. LOL

So to all of you faithful followers and sponsors of RAGOM and of Walter, He would like to say Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I would like to add my thanks also, as I have truly felt the blessing of being a foster mom to such a wonderful dog and organization.

Walter here again...............wow, let me tell you this, I love a bath on a hot day with the garden hose. I had no idea it could be used for such a thing. I was on the porch just a panting away and here comes my foster mom with the hose and I am thinking, oh great she is gonna water the tomato plant with the one tomato on it that she probley won't eat anyway cause she hates tomatoes and she starts spraying me with the hose!!!! It was great. She put this shampoo on me and gave me a massage and I loved every minute of it. I have pictures to prove it. THEN....the next day she brushed my hair and I look so good and am so shiny and soft, people are stopping to pet me when we go on our short walks. Take a look at my handsome self and let my foster mom know you are interested. I would love to meet you, especially if you own a hose!!!!!!! Take care, ol Walter over and out!!!
