Winter is a 3-year-old Golden Retriever mix that weighs 50 pounds. She arrived with her puppy, 14-378 Uno, from Alabama thanks to a wonderful team of transport volunteers. Winter is not spayed, is current on vaccinations and heartworm negative. She was found in a mud hole after giving birth to eight pups, but only Uno survived. Winter is a wonderful momma and one of the sweetest dogs I've ever fostered. She was a little tentative when she arrived, but has already melted into our hearts and settled in nicely. She needs to stay with her puppy until she's 8 weeks.

We don't know her background, or if she's lived in a home before. She doesn't seem to have any anxieties, loves being around people, is great with the kids, and loves running in the fenced yard.

Winter figured out what to do with a tennis ball today and then she hopped around the yard with glee - so cute! She doesn't understand retrieve and return, but sure had fun. She has funny mannerisms too - Winter does this sideways summersault into you when she wants to snuggle. Really special girl~

I wish the photos would capture what a pretty girl she is!

Winter found her forever home! She is loving playing with her two new human brothers and one new furry brother, also a RAGOM alum. She now has a huge yard to run around in, and tons of love and attention. Sweet Winter, whose journey to the Golden Life began in a mud pit in Alabama, is discovering the joys of Minnesota pond hockey these days - she has come so far! Thanks to RAGOM and her wonderful new family, we have another happy ending.

Winter arrived at her new foster home a few days ago, along with her puppy, Uno 14-378.

She is slowly and quietly adjusting to the different surroundings, routines, and resident animals. She is very easy to have around - gets along well with the other dog, gentle with the kids, and pays no attention to the cats. She has barked very little, never chewed anything she shouldn't, and never tried to bolt out the door since she's been here. She's still letting Uno nurse a few times a day - she keeps a close watch on her baby. They are so cute together.

Winter has begun to feel comfortable enough to play with the other foster dog here, although she doesn't seem to have a bunch of energy that needs to be burned off, like so many young dogs do.

She loves attention, pets and scratches and being talked to. She will come and look at you with her innocent, seal-like eyes, and lean her head into you - it's quite endearing!
