Welcome Woody 15-026, a 7 week old purebred golden retriever. Woody and his littermates, Valentino 15-013and York 15-027, were part of a litter of nine puppies born to a home breeder in Sioux Falls SD. Woody is around 9 lbs. now and will probably grow up to be a big dog. His father, Roscoe, weighs 70 lbs. and mama was 60 lbs. He has gotten his first puppy shots and will need to be neutered before he can be adopted.

He and his pals are as cute as golden retriever puppies can be. He has personality to go with his looks. The first few days, he whined and had to be carried down the four steps off the deck. Then he conquered his fears and handles the steps just fine. He loves to sit and chew on sticks outside. He and his brothers are playful and love to be held. He lived with many children and was handled a lot. He is pretty laid back but playful and sweet. Just what you want in a golden retriever pup. For a very young pup, Woody is good about letting me know when he needs to go out. He will be easy to housetrain with this habit already in place.

If you are looking at this puppy, remember he will need someone who can give him lots of time, exercise and training to grow up to be a good family or companion dog. And love of course. Lots of love. Check with your placement advisor to find out more about Woody.

Updates

Woody continues to show a lot of personality and is just a real charmer. He’s ten weeks old now and weighs 14.4 pounds. He got another set of shots last week and had a good checkup. This week he was neutered and bounced back after his surgery. He enjoys being able to sleep on the bed and is a real snuggler. His housetraining is coming along but will still take him maturing some.

Today Woody met his forever family and is on his way home. Home includes mom and dad, a dog, Louie, a boy and a baby. He will have a fenced in yard to play in and an eager playmate. Grandfather is also eager to meet him and spend time with him. The family has renamed him Chester.

So long pup. Grow up to be a great family dog. You were a joy to foster.

Woody has a family coming to meet him so hopefully he’s on his way to his forever home soon. He also has his neuter scheduled and will get another set of shots this week. He is eight weeks now, growing and gaining weight. He has a voice and he lets me and his littermates know what he wants. Of the three puppies, he shows a great deal of personality. He started out as the reluctant one and now enjoys his independence, sitting out in the yard alone when they come back inside, happy to be by himself.

He was so cute one day as he inched closer and closer to my former puppy mill mama, Gypsy. Woody is really a dear puppy who will grow to be a loving companion for someone.
