Dixie Rose would like to send a big thank you to her RAGOM transporters Karen and Heather!  Dixie Rose was so frightened on her ride to foster care that Karen and Heather had to carry her from vehicle.  When Dixie Rose arrived in foster care her little belly hit the ground and she refused to move.  Luckily, Dixie Rose was greeted by three friendly dogs and it didn’t take long for Dixie Rose to happily follow her new friends around and begin to learn about her new life as a RAGOM girl.

Josie, Libby, Rosy, and Dixie Rose

Dixie Rose was surrendered to RAGOM because of a condition called entropion.  In Dixie Rose’s case her lower eyelids roll inward and are pressed against her eyeballs.  This is a very painful condition.  In spite of the pain, Dixie Rose is coming out of her shell and seems to be enjoying her time with us in foster care.

“I love pontoon rides!”

Dixie Rose requires surgery by a specialist to correct her entropion.  Please consider donating to RAGOM to help pay for Dixie Rose’s surgery.  After Dixie recovers from her entropion surgery, she will need to be spayed.  Dixie will be unavailable for adoption until after her surgeries.  During her recovery we will learn more about what this sweet girl needs in her forever home.

Corky (Dixie Rose 16-125) recently celebrated the first anniversary of her Gotcha Day.  Corky loves her life, and especially loves her big sister Josie (Lacey 09-048).  Corky is as sweet as they come, and almost always has a smile on her face.  New things and new people still frighten her, but with Josie by her side she's quick to conquer her fears.  Thank you RAGOM for bringing this sweet girl into our home.

We have been having so much fun welcoming Corky (fka Dixie Rose) to our family.  She is an incredibly happy pup and makes us smile every day.  She has met toddlers, seniors, big and little dogs, and cats, and is calm and gentle around all.  Corky loves to retrieve, loves playing in the lake, and especially loves her big sister Josie.  Anything new still frightens her, but luckily she is quick to recover as long as long as Josie is near.  We look forward to celebrating her first birthday while on a camping trip to the North Shore.  Thank you RAGOM for taking in this beautiful girl and getting her the medical help she needed, we love her to pieces!

Dixie Rose has been adopted.  Her eyes are beautiful, and she will recover from her spay in her forever home.  Dixie Rose’s new big sister, Josie (Lacey 09-048), is also a RAGOM girl and also suffered from entropion.  Dixie Rose is now Josie’s constant shadow, and the two are becoming fast friends.  Josie promises to continue to show Dixie Rose that life is good and people are kind.

Dixie Rose would like to send a huge thank you to her sponsors Marsha, Nicole 13-351 and Buster, and Cindy and Bill Nelson!  Even though things look quite painful in her post-surgery picture, Dixie Rose wants you to know your generous support has helped her see life with new eyes.

It warms our hearts to watch Dixie Rose look in amazement at the world around her.  Prior to her surgery Dixie Rose spent most of the time with her hurting eyes closed.  Now that her eyelashes are no longer against her eyes, Dixie Rose is constantly looking up at the sky, across the yard, checking out the flowers, or looking towards every little noise she hears.  She is such a sweet girl.
