Teddy (Chester 06-560)

Profile

1/7/07: Looking for a man to love in your life? Well, we have Chester here and he is ready for a loving home. He is a two- or three-year-old, 60-pound neutered male. He was turned in as a stray so we have been working closely with him to get to know him better. Someone owned him, as he doesn't chew or sit on the furniture and just likes to lie by the couch and hang out with us watching the football games all weekend. He does know about people food so is always looking for a hand-out. He will need some obedience training, but knows Sit and Be Nice. He loved riding in the truck--he jumped right in and just sat down when asked. He loves the outdoors and has been going with us on daily walks. He pulls hard on the leash, so we're training him on the Gentle Leader. And we haven't yet heard this guy bark! Went to the vet and had him checked over, so no health issues. One of the ladies there wanted this smart guy but has too many dogs now. We will be back this week to have him microchipped. He is ready to go to his forever home, so send your application now and let us know you are interested in him!

Our beautiful Teddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.

1.5 years ago he was diagnosed with a slow growing liver cancer. He was fine up until about a month ago when his liver had a hard time processing fluids and the fluids were building up in his belly. We had the fluid drained 3 times but each time the build up occurred in a shorter amount of time. His liver was now fully involved with cancer and it was getting harder and harder for him to move around. He also had severe arthritis in his wrists and we had to make the best decision for him.

We adopted Teddy almost 11 years ago and we estimate he was 13 years old. Teddy had a great life going on camping trips, swimming in his own backyard pool and having fun with all his cabin friends both human and dog. He really enjoyed swimming at the cabin and would often walk himself down to the lake for a dip. Teddy did many RAGOM home visits with me and helped other rescued Golden's find their forever homes.

We miss his beautiful face.
