Meet Hallie! She is an adorable 10 week old puppy. She weighs about 11 pounds and looks all black but every day we are noticing more brown highlights coming in on her coat. Hallie’s mom was a purebred Golden Retriever and her dad was the neighbor’s purebred Boxer. Hallie is a typical puppy- playful, energetic, and nothing is safe from becoming a possible chew toy! She may not look like a typical golden, but her personality is all golden. She follows us everywhere already, she loves to give kisses, snuggle and be held, and she is fantastic at playing fetch. It took us almost two years to teach our resident golden to play fetch and actually bring us back the toy; Hallie does it almost every time already, with toys that are about as big as her! Hallie does great with our resident dog; they wrestle constantly and zoom around in the backyard together. She is getting the hang of walking on a leash as well as ‘sit’ and ‘down’, but would definitely benefit from obedience classes as she grows. It’s a great way to bond as well as continue to socialize her and help her grow into a well-mannered family member. Hallie sleeps well in the crate all night, she doesn’t make a peep. She does fine crated for a work-day as well, with a bathroom break at lunch. We have had her almost a week and only had one accident, so she is doing very well with potty-training so far. She could live with or without another dog and she does not need a fence as she would be fine on a tie out or could eventually be boundary trained. She could live with kids of any age but remember she is a puppy and has very sharp puppy teeth and likes to chew on everything, including people right now! Also she will be a big dog and could knock children down in excitement as she grows. She did meet a cat and wasn’t quite sure what to think so she ran away from it. Puppies are a lot of work but they are definitely worth it! Hallie will be spayed in the next couple of weeks and then will be ready to go to her forever home. Sorry for the delay in updates for Hallie. She has had an interesting last couple of weeks! She had her spay surgery on August 25th. During the procedure, the vet found a large amount of fluid in her belly. They ran some initial tests and all came back normal, but just to be safe, we waited two weeks and then had an ultrasound done to make sure everything was alright. Everything looked great and Hallie is doing wonderfully. The vet gave her a perfect bill of health. The best guess is that since she came into RAGOM with a pretty bad case of worms, those could have been the cause of the extra fluid. Thank you so much to RAGOM for providing such great vet care for this sweet girl! Hallie got her last vaccination yesterday, so she is now completely up-to-date and ready to be adopted. She now weighs a little over 17 pounds and her sweet personality is really coming out. She loves to run around and play like crazy like a typical puppy, and when she gets tired she seeks out one of us or RD Leinie to make sure she has a cuddle buddy while she naps. Hallie would be fine as an only dog in a home, but she would definitely love some play dates with another playful dog. She has mastered "sit." She knows to sit before coming in the house from outside, she sits and stays before going to eat her food, and pretty much any time she is curious or unsure about something, she’ll sit down, tilt her head and stare. It’s pretty adorable. Miss Hallie will be at Goldzille this Sunday; come out and meet her!

Goldzilla is almost here, September 13th, and we just want to let you know about something very special happening the day of the event. You will also have the opportunity to write that particular dog a note, which will be posted on the dog’s page after the event. Little Miss Hallie is continuing to do great and is growing like a weed, up to almost 15 pounds! She went in to the vet on Friday and received a clean bill of health. She is scheduled for her spay on 8/25 and will then be microchipped and ready to go to her forever home after that. Hallie is a great dog and really a pretty easy puppy. She is very good about chewing on her toys and has not gotten into anything inappropriate, other than picking up a flip-flop once, but instantly dropped it when we asked her to. She is doing well with potty training - no accidents in over a week, and has actually gone to the door a couple of times to go out. Hallie had a very big day last weekend when she went to the RAGOM picnic - she met 15 or so other Goldens and did great with all of them. Hallie also met tons of people including a little 3-year-old girl who loved her. Thank you to Michelle L. for taking some wonderful pictures of sweet Hallie! This weekend, she traveled to her foster grandparents' with us where she met our 8-year-old nephew and they instantly became best friends. Hallie does great riding in the car, she just curls up and takes a nap. She loves to play, but also is a total lap dog. Once Hallie was worn out, she spent the rest of the day switching between napping in foster grandpa’s lap and cuddling up to RD Leinie. She has gone on several walks with us, up to about 2 miles at a time, and she is doing very well with the leash. If you are interested in Miss Hallie, please let your placement advisor know!
