Updates

It's been a big week for Sasha!! We've been able to get to know this sweet, funny girl even more, and we gotta say she'd make such a great family dog. She definitely still has her puppy energy. She loves to play with her toys; she would play fetch or tug-o-war with you all day long if you'd let her. She also loves to wrestle--with another dog or a person, she doesn't care, as long as someone's playing with her! She still does that adorable puppy thing where she cocks her head when she's curious.

Both dogs got baths this week! Sasha sat very well in the bathtub while we scrubbed and rinsed her; she actually seemed to enjoy it. She got nice and clean because we took her on a special trip for Easter Sunday. We took Sasha, along with our resident, Nim, up north to my dad's house. She was fine in the car for 45 minutes and was an absolute charmer with my family. She met a 1-year-old and did so well with being gentle with him. She did slobber on his face pretty well, though! (On a separate occasion, she met a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old and did equally well as well.) She also met my brother's two dogs and became instant buddies with one of them, a Basset Hound named Bentley.

We joke that Sasha is part horse because she's like a wild mare on walks. We've tried walking both with the Gentle Leader and without it. She pulls a lot without it (and she's a strong girl!), so the Gentle Leader is the best option for her. She also makes these adorable groans when she's relaxing that sound like a horse. She really has personality.

While a fence is not required, it should be noted that as of right now, Sasha has little recall. She doesn't reliably come when she's called. Don't let her size fool you--she's still a puppy. She's incredibly smart, though, and would do awesomely with training. She knew "sit" and "down" when she arrived, and we've now added "shake" and "drop it" to her repertoire. We're also still working on "stay" and "wait." She's starting to understand the commands "stop" and "walk" when we're on walks, too. She has taken the role of the dominant dog in our house, but there hasn't been any aggression and she loves all dogs and all people.

Sasha would fit into just about any family that has the time and love for her. She does great with other dogs, but would be a great only dog as well. She's so good with kids, and I could see her being a little girl or boy's best friend. But who are we kidding, she's so sweet she could be anyone's best friend! Come and meet this sweetheart for yourself.
