Benji and Brutus are a beautiful bonded pair of PB Goldens.  They are littermates, are 7.5 years old and will be 8 in June. They have been together all of their lives with the same loving owner and they need to stay together as they are best friends. They were surrendered to RAGOM because their owner relocated and was unable to bring them with.  They are extremely well socialized, very friendly, happy, housetrained, affectionate, and have free roam with no destructive behaviors. Benji is particularly “Golden”! What does this mean?  It means he has perfected the “Golden Nudge”. This is a secret Golden trick to obtain petting from anyone in the room. It consists of coming super close to you and nudging your arm/hand with his nose in order to insure he gets pets. Brutus will then take the clue and nudge his way in also! In a short time you will have the most beautiful 4 brown eyes starring at you with smiles that you cannot resist! As I am writing this Benji is sleeping on top of my feet. Isn’t it nice that he wants to help keep me warm on this cold day! What a sweetheart!

Both boys rode great in the car on our drive here and met our 2 resident dogs with ease and friendliness.  They became adjusted here immediately and set about to feel at home. This just attests to their stable and loving upbringing. They seem quite secure. Both boys are good at coming when they are called. They know sit, shake and lie down but do not necessarily think these are important qualities and comply only when they want to. They are eager to please however and I think they would appreciate training in this area.

They are both overweight. Benji is particularly um-hum “weight gifted”. I estimate his weight to be about 130 lbs. He is quite tall and I think his ideal weight may be 90 lbs. We will visit the vet this week and find out his official weight. Other than that he appears to be in very good health. Benji has a history of a few seizures. He was put on a seizure med last fall and has not had one since. Because of his weight he has a little trouble jumping into the car. He does need a lift in. Stairs are no problem at all and he runs in the yard with playful ease. I think they both would really love to add lots of walks to their lifestyle! Benji went on a leashed walk with me and loved it with hardly any pulling. He has not been leash walked much in his life as it was never necessary on the farm and he does not run off. I do not think a physical fence would be necessary.

Benji is excited to see any new people who come into the house but does not jump up. The boys lived on a farm for many years and had free run outside. They loved the cats on the farm and they grew up with children.  These guys are very gentle, they just want lots of attention and they love to be outside. I have not seen any behavior problems at all with them. They are absolutely wonderful! If you are looking for 2 stunningly beautiful Goldens with great personalities and loving easy natures and are willing to help them slim down, these may be the guys for you!

The dynamic duo of Brutus and Benji have been with us for 1 month now. We absolutely love them! They are super easy guys who just chill out while in the house and love to be outside whenever they can. We needed a booster shot so went back to the vet today. Benji was such a great guy and we had super wonderful news! Benji has lost 7 pounds in just 3 weeks! Yea Benji! Having been free fed in the past the 1.5 cups they are now getting twice a day is doing the trick! He is now a mere 136 lbs! We would like to get him down to 100 lbs and then see how he looks. He is a tall guy so I think it may be a good weight for him but we will see! Everything else checked out great at the vet including heart, lungs, teeth, eyes. The weekend weather was wonderful and we spent lots of time outside and with our 2 visiting granddaughters age 7 and 4. Benji really loved that! We are so anxious for the ice to melt off the lake and to see how the boys like the water and boat rides. What we want for them in a forever home is a very loving family who will enjoy their easy going personalities. We also want them to be able to be outside often as they love the fresh air and a deck to claim their own! They are totally housebroken and are completely non destructive. If you think these guys may be right for you we would love to tell you more! Enjoy the new pics of them. Notice the happiness which is normal for these fantastic guys!

Dynamic Duo update!!!!!  The 2 guys are doing fantastic here! They are perfect house guests. We went for a great walk on the lake today and Benji sure loved it. He is wonderful about coming when he is called but is totally happy to be exploring and sniffing otherwise. His true puppiness comes out on walks. He is the expert at getting pets. You will get the evil eye when you stop petting him as seen in one of these pictures! What a lover he is! It doesn't get any easier or better than these 2 gorgeous goldens.

Hello everyone, Benji here. My brother Brutus and I went to the vet today for a checkup. Do you know where vets stick their fingers? Well, Dr Joe was very nice and gentle and I was very good. The big news for me was that I am a little bit overweight, 143 lbs. I really don't look that big cause I am tall but foster mom (FM) says with daily walks and only eating twice a day the pounds should melt off! I am used to eating whenever I want but I don't mind. I had blood work done, poop testing, heart and lung listening, mouth and teeth inspection and some other things and Dr Joe says I am in great shape, well, other than the excess weight. Dr Joe says I should still take phenobarbital cause I had one day last fall when I had several seizures. If I loose weight I may be able to not take it anymore. FM bought some today and it cost $24.00 for a month of pills. I like to take them with a little bit of peanut butter on a bit of bread.

When we went home we met a few men who were there to work on a remodel project. They were so nice and they really liked me, I know cause they pet me for a long time! Then a little girl came over selling some candy and she really liked me too! She was so cute! I love children. FM is posting some new pics of me and Brutus. We are super cute as you can see but the best thing about us is that we are so easy and nice. We like to be near our people and we love to go outside. We are pretty much perfect and would like to find a home together where we can hang out and love our new family. We already love our foster family. It doesn't take us long to adapt! Look at my new pictures. I am the good looking one! Oh, in the picture with us and our 2 foster brothers greeting our FD, I am the one with the big butt. Don't worry I am working on that!
