Elvira is a mix of Golden Retriever and probably German Shepherd. At about five weeks old, she and her five siblings were dropped off at a shelter in Alabama. Motherless and abandoned, they came to RAGOM when they were 8 weeks old on a transport to Minnesota. Elvira is a tall girl but weighs only 5.8 pounds so she’s got some weight to put on in the next few weeks before she will be spayed.

She is a beautiful pup who likes to be snuggled. She and her brother, Casper, are being fostered together in Sioux Falls SD. She and Casper play together and then snuggle together in their bed. She is very sweet.

They came with worms and parasites like most puppies and are being treated with two medications. They are already showing signs of wellness and taking advantage of the good and plentiful food they have now.

Elvira being a former Southern belle quickly took to the snow and cold here in South Dakota. She was tunneling in the snow, eating ice and running around chasing her brother. She is very adaptable to living in the North.

If you are ready for puppy kisses, training and being chewed on a bit with puppy teeth, please contact your placement advisor about Elvira. She will be rechecked for weight gain and overall health in three weeks and if all is well, she will get spayed then. Once that’s taken care of, she will be ready for a new home.

Foster mom would like to thank Mary M for taking in the puppies when they arrived from Alabama and Katy D for bringing them to me after a weekend of driving rescue dogs from Pine Ridge Reservation in SD.

One of the sweetest puppies has just been adopted and is on her way to Rochester with her new mom and sister, Koda. Koda is a 3 year old Golden and will find out how playful Ellie can be. And Elvira will now be known as Joie.

From a sickly, thin puppy arriving from Alabama five weeks ago, Ellie has grown and grown more than doubling her weight. From the beginning, she was a sweet pup eager to give kisses and that continues to be her way to meet people. She was so playful with brother Casper and then my dogs. Besides her sweetness, her intelligence was always apparent. You can see it in her eyes and she learned quickly where the treats were, sitting there looking up at the countertop. Have a good life, Ellie.

Ellie is now spayed, healthy, gaining weight and ready to go to her new forever home. Who’s ready for her puppy love?

Ellie is a good listener and quickly comes when called or stops doing something she shouldn’t be doing. She is easily redirected to another toy. She is doing well with housebreaking. Today as I finished some holiday shopping she kept her kennel clean for 3.5 hours. Ellie knows where the treats are kept. She will run into the kitchen and sit very nicely by the counter. Then she’ll look from the counter to you so you know that she’d really like a treat. We’re working on taking treats nicely.

Ellie is easy to crate. Toss a treat in and she’s in the crate. She’s not used to riding in the car but settles down after a few minutes. It’s still pretty scary for her. She is pretty well traveled having made a trip from Alabama to Minnesota to South Dakota, but not real happy to be in a crate again in the car. In the house, she likes to sleep in a crate or just her dog bed.

Ellie is not much of a barker but can sometimes serenade you a bit when first put to bed. Other times, there’s not a peep heard. She just goes to sleep.

Ellie is very social. She approaches people for attention. Gives kisses when picked up and is very sweet. Her brother, Casper, just got adopted so I expect Ellie will become even more people oriented without Casper to chase and roughhouse with.

Ellie is real smart and quite the charmer. Contact Placement if you are ready for sweet puppy love from little Ellie.

Elvira is no longer the frail pup who arrived a short time ago. She is growing and gaining weight. She finished her medication and has recovered from any illness. She has had her first round of puppy shots, bordetella and flea treatment. She and brother, Casper, are playing, eating and sleeping their way through their days.

Ellie has gone from spitting out her pills to sitting eagerly for a little piece of bread covered with peanut butter and with pills inside. She and Casper no longer squabble over food but eat side by side. She needs more time to eat and used to be pushed away from food by her bigger siblings. With food available all the time and no hassle from her brother, she has been able to gain weight.

The pups run and chase each other around the yard and in the house. The pitter patter of little puppy feet is heard as they go up and down the hallway or chase each other under the bed. The game changes with one chasing and the next minute being chased. In my living room, it’s like Goldilocks, with pups moving from one dog bed to another, trying them all out. Ellie is playful and can keep up with her bigger brother, Casper.

While too young to be housebroken, we are working on it. Ellie is good about going on papers and using the outdoors. There is much praise from me when I catch her doing it in the right place.

Ellie and Casper crash and go to bed each night about six and sleep until six the next day. They are able to get outside a lot and run around so napping is part of their day. The weather doesn’t seem to bother Ellie but sometimes she will come to me and sit at my feet or jump up to be picked up. She is a snuggler.

Ellie is a beautiful, responsive, smart puppy. She is affectionate and very playful. If you’re interested in adopting her and who wouldn’t when you look into her beautiful puppy eyes, contact Placement. She is a sweetie and just waiting for someone to want her as much as she wants to find her forever home.
