Good news for little Boo - there is solid poo!!! Very strange way to start an update, but if you have ever had a pup with a really bad tummy, it is a time to celebrate! He is eating and drinking really well and has grown a bit, too. Although he was doing better, he wasn't as close to solid as we had hoped so we did move him over to feedings of rice and chicken which is doing the trick.
With the tummy improving our nights have become much better, too. He has slept for 6-8 hours the last 4 nights. Kennel training is going very well. Have left him a few times as we've run errands for a few hours and he has kept his kennel very clean.
Last night we had friends over and he did really well in meeting them (minus a tiny excited piddle right away). Loved to play and cuddle with kids. He still has some typical puppy biting tendencies, which is totally normal, but is learning to "kiss" instead of bite. Although we may be partial, we think Boo is extremely smart as he has caught on to "sit" and "nice" for taking treats gently. Remember he isn't even 3 months old!!!
Since the days have warmed up, he has decided playing outside is pretty fun. He will run and chase with our youngest. Walking on a leash is improving. Although, he does tell you when he is done - sits down, pulls back on the leash and tries for a full sprint back home. He has grown enough to make it up to the couch. The pride Boo has in this accomplishment has been very entertaining. There is a tender side to this young man, too. This week our eldest resident dog had a really tough day. Even though Boo and he don't spend quality time together, Boo picked up on it and gently laid down on him to provide comfort. So heartwarming!!!
This week will see another visit to the vet for a tummy check-up, rabies shot and micro-chip. Then we will be able to schedule Boo's neutering within the next 3 to 4 weeks.
If you take the time to listen, he is very good at telling you things. One of his favorite asks is to be held while he sleeps. The routine is to play for 1 -2 hours and then need a nap. He will come and jump up on your knee and lean in for pets but stays until you pick him up where he snuggles right in to your chest for a snooze. It is adorable!!!! Boo may not need to be in a home with another pup, but he definitely needs a forever family that has the time and interest to cuddle.
