This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Welcome to Chewy,he made a long trip from Tennessee and arrived here in Richfield on October 19th. Met my resident dogs Charlie & Zoey with out any issues on his end.  We had a low key first night and he was a little stressed from all the changes but I did get him to eat a little and he was very thirsty. He spent the first night gated in my hallway right outside of my bedroom and slept well. The next night he moved to a dog bed in the bedroom with the pack & myself.

Made a vet appointment for his wellness exam and the timing was perfect as first Chewy and  within another day RD Charlie came down with kennel cough. It did not slow Chewy down as much as Charlie who had a rough time of it. So we have been pretty much just hanging at home and waiting for the boys to recover. Good news is" Choo Choo" he has many names already is pretty close to 100% and Charlie is getting there a little slower but did rough house with the lil man for the first time last night. Chew's dog playing skills need some work as he kind of ramps it up to a frenzied pace at times. My resident gal Zoey has been frustrated by this and has been giving some firm corrections I did not know she had in her. That said wait an hour and she will be back to try training him to play "correctly" again. Perhaps he did not have dog pals to play with? I don't know that kind of detail. For the most part he is pretty calm around the house and is more into keeping an eye on his person. Chewy, came into rescue due to his former owner passing away.

What I can tell you now knowing" Chew toy" for the last couple of weeks is that  excluding his kennel cough is a healthy 5 y/o Golden mix who tops the scales @ 49 lbs a really nice size. He has not a lick of training but has already master sit. What kind of a mix is unknown but he does have that Golden wanna please gene and he does OK listening. He was crated during the work days and has moved up to being just gated in the kitchen these days. He had just a few potty / marking issues the first few days but is doing fine now and has been doing full long workdays with out issue.

I need to get him back to the vet again now that he is recovering to get the one missing   vaccination so he will be UTD and ready for adoption. They could not give him the one for kennel cough as he actively had it. Oh and he is the most camera shy foster I have had.

We got a few for this update. Tonight I wonder if he has seen snow the kind you can romp in?

I will give another update on him later in the week and let you know.

Farewell Chewy Fans

Chewy is officially adopted and joined his forever family last Saturday. They have been great on keeping his former foster family updated on how he is doing. Chewy is exceeding expectations as far as adjusting to his new home. He is able to get a nice long walk in every day that he really enjoys with his new dad.He was very happy to see his family Saturday when they came to get him and even elbowed his foster brother to be in front to get pets. A wonderful match. I'm told he is his new dad's shadow already. FB Charlie seems to be missing his little buddy and has been sleeping on the dog bed Chewy used the last two nights but is back to his happy go luck self again today. We have an invite to visit next summer and his new family attends Goldzilla in September so we might cross path's then too. Have a wonderful life Chewy. FD, Charlie & Zoey.

Hi Chewy Fans

Two weeks ago Chewy and I attended a Ragom event in Shakopee. One of the people meetingChewy took a long drive that day to meet him. During the next week we were contacted officially and set up a meeting with this family. We drove to their home about an hour away. And met all members of the J family. We had a swell visit and Chewy was very comfy there. He even jumped up on the couch something he never does in his foster home.Perhaps he knew he was home? Chewy will be joining the J family on Saturday February 7th. He will have a new Mom & Dad and a fur sister. In fact his new four legged friend is a former Ragom gal named May 07-125. And I spent time with May-May when she  was a foster dog. It was so nice to see her again and she was happy to have a fur pal again. I will write one more time after Chewy moves north and everything is complete. FD,Charlie,Zoey & Chewy.

Merry Christmas Chewy!  Merry Christmas, Chewy! From Nate

 Happy New Year Chewy Fans!

Well just before the holidays kicked in Chewy & FD attended a Ragom Event in Shakopee.

Chewy did not think highly of this activity at first and backed completely under my chair and hid there for a time. However he watched the other dogs getting attention and having a good time of it. And one of these strangers (Thanks Karen) was handing out his kind of treats! He turned it up to brave and ventured forward to get a treat and say HI to the other pups. A later arriving foster friend mentioned to me "He Does fine at events" So we will attend future events as our schedule allows.

The other thing I discovered about my lil pal Chewy is he's a natural for having on a Gentle Leader and walked well with it and was very content having it on. Makes me wonder if he used to have one of his own?

Chewy enjoyed the holidays very much. He found there are gifts under the tree for the puppers and

Santa  was aware of his of his new address and one was marked for Chewy. He did really great with a small number of friends and a change of schedule. He has a brand new Nyla Bone to take with him. To tell the truth I'm no longer sure of the exact one is his as he and RD Charlie have  co- existed and shared bones wonderfully and with Charlie the toy king involved that's news. He likes his lil brother. Lot's of wrestling with both my RD's they both enjoy playing with Chewy. We have 9 different bones in play. And it can get a little vocal at time's but everybody is pals.

Foster Dad is felling very blessed to have such a nice foster boy who fits in SO well. But Chewy's destiny is with you or your family. We are the bridge from what was... to what will be. Could it be with you? Contact placement.

Happy Holidays Chewy Fans!

We have learned a few more things about Chew Toy in the last few weeks. He's a really good car dog. We visited another foster home about an hour away at maximum warp and Chewy is fine with long car trips. He met their young dog well too. We have made a few trips out into the world and met a few people and dogs along the way. He meets other dogs well. People he is still a little timid but I noticed he is going for more stranger sniffs these days. He takes some time to warm up to new people but once he has met you and placed you on his approved list he warmly greets you at the door the next time. He also met some of the feline type lifeforms in a wire crate type setting at a pet store and was not that interested in them. He has not been cat tested. But he did not seem aggressive at all in that setting.

Chewy loves to play with his foster brother & sister is an understatement. Play fests start some days as early as the first trip out in the morning. We even get some three way and two vs one  wrestling matches going complete with shifting alliances as far as who's on what team. We have introduced some chew bones to the crew and Chewy has found his place with my boy Charlie AKA the toy hound who is convinced all the toys are his! Chewy really enjoyed Thanksgiving as all the furbutts got a ration of turkey with their kibble for about four days.

Sending along two photos, the first is "Happy Chewy" with his temporary Human. It was mentioned to me this week that he adores FD (foster dad). Looks to be true but he did not even know me two months ago. Could you be the next person he adores?  The second picture is Chewy by the X-Mas tree. He would look just as cute under your tree and he would love you forever. If you are interested in meeting Choo Choo just contact placement. I'm told their hailing frequencies are open.

Hello Chewy fans!

Well Chewy made it back to the vet and was pronounced well again and received his Bordetella vaccine and is up to date. Resident gal Zoey has completed her play training with" lil man"and they go multiple round's most nights and often in the mornings also. Foster brother Charlie lagged behind on getting over the kennel cough and was very timid / submissive with his inter actions with Chewy. Well I can now report Charlie is feeling better and decided it was time to show Choo Choo he can play too last night. The boys both enjoyed their wrestling match.

The vet tech commented that Chewy took a few minutes to warm up to her when the first met they led him off to the back room to take his temp and give him his vaccine as he kept sitting down firmly when she tried to take his temperature. He bounded back into the exam room with his new friend content to be with her. He eats his meals in the kitchen with the rest of the dogs and does not guard his food or water. Almost forgot to mention he does think that snow is a wonderful thing and gleefully romps and plows with his head into the snow.

He enjoys the freedom of having a fenced back yard to kick up his heals and zoom at full speed when he feels the need for speed. I was a little worried that he would not make some of the turns at the velocity he gets to but no crashes yet. He would need slow introduction to the concept of being on a ty- out but he's a sharp pup so I assume he would pick up on the concept
