I wanted to share some pictures of sweet Trackr. The family that adopted him this past October had previously adopted one of my former fosters and I get updates on the two boys all the time. Trackr has grown into a sweet, mellow and loving dog – just like we knew he would. I love being able to see him periodically as he is a truly wonderful dog! I hope to see him at Goldzilla this year.

Since our last update, Trackr has recovered from his neuter surgery and has been back to the regular vet for booster shots. Although he was estimated to be 12-13 weeks old when we brought him to our home, the vet is currently putting him at 12-13 weeks, and we have had him for over two weeks. Is this the new math? Seriously, the vet thinks he is a little younger than first estimated, based on his size and lack of any appearance of adult teeth. Whatever, his age is just a guess :-) He is a happy, healthy little guy – and surprisingly calm for a puppy. Not to say he doesn’t try to get into things that are not for puppies…
We watched our daughter’s dogs for a few days last week. Cinnamon (RAGOM 13-153) is a year and a half and very playful. Between playing with her and our Golden Lucy, Trackr was a very tired out little boy. But it was fun watching him play with the others. For a few days it was non-stop play – then deep sleep.
Trackr is a very sweet puppy with an affectionate disposition. He loves to cuddle, and easily gives up items we need to take away from him. He still sleeps at night in the crate, and is nice and quiet in there. If he wakes ups and wakes us up, it is because he needs to get outside. This doesn’t happen very often, but it helps that FD and FM have different sleep (and work) schedules. FM puts him into the crate after FD is already sleeping, and FD gets up very early.
We have a securely fenced yard and Trackr loves being outside. We have had such nice weather, and the dogs are out a lot. He loves to chase a ball and often brings it back. He loves chew toys, and has had a few of the small rawhide sticks. He gets super excited about those. I have made it a point to take it away from him, look it over and give it back, just to get him used to the idea that we can take something of such high value away. He gives it to me very easily.
Do you think raising a puppy is something you would enjoy? Puppies are not for everyone. They are a lot of work, but it is nice to be able to be the one to help them form good habits, and training a young dog is a very good bonding experience.
