Please help give a warm RAGOM welcome to Lilly, or Miss Lilly, or Lilly-hammer, or Lilly-hamster. She turns her head to all of those, probably thinking to herself, “My name is Lilly...just Lilly, you crazy lady!” We are longtime RAGOM volunteers that moved to Puerto Rico for a work assignment. While leaving work one day, my husband found a litter of 5 puppies left in the parking lot. The mom was nowhere to be found. Naturally, my husband brought them home and we began the rescue process. Lilly started out weighing just 12 pounds, but as of September 23rd, she weighed almost 19 pounds. I guess that’s what a little good food will do to you. She was probably the runt of the litter, as she was definitely the smallest. She is completely up to date on all her shots, including rabies and bordetella as well as Frontline and Heartgard. When we first got the puppies, they all had pretty bad dry skin, but with some medicated shampoo, it cleared up amazingly. Now, they all have hair again!! All the puppies have been spayed/neutered. We were able to find homes for two of the five puppies here in Puerto Rico, but Lilly and her sisters (Juno 14-301 and Isabel 14-302) have hit the jackpot. They got to get on a big plane for a “field trip” to Minnesota where RAGOM will help get them to the forever home that they so deserve!!

Lilly is just as sweet as she can be, especially when she gets some alone time away from her sisters. Everyone needs a break from their siblings every once and a while!! She loves to chase pretty much any toy you throw. Squeaky ones are super fun!! She springs and hops when she hears the ice machine...quite possibly her favorite treat! She would follow her resident foster brother (Patch 10-223, a Black Lab) around the house and try to hang all over him. He’s a good sport. Maybe he remembers what it is like to be a young, courteous dog!! Like most puppies, Lilly is still learning to use her mouth appropriately, as she can be a bit mouthy sometimes, but is easily redirected. She is learning to walk on a leash and use the bathroom on the grass. Lilly sleeps through the night in her crate and while I am away from the house without hardly a peep from her. Lilly is great with kids and dogs. We have not seen her around cats. I think she would be fine, but I’m sure curious. Overall, she is a great puppy that just needs some puppy training. There were definitely some “Oh, she’s my favorite” from some people in our neighborhood.

Once Lilly arrives in Minnesota, she will need to get a microchip, then she’s ready for adoption to her forever home. If you think that might be you, please contact your placement advisor and I’m sure Lilly’s new foster would love to set up a meeting!!

Lilly continues to be a fantastic dog! She was introduced to snow this past week, and at first, she wasn't so sure about it. It only took a short time, though, and she realized how much fun it is to run around, pounce and roll in the snow. When she starts to get cold, she comes up to us and then wants us to carry her for a bit. Silly dog! Lilly has requested that we go shopping to get her a jacket to help keep her warm and is waiting patiently for us to find one. :)

Lilly really did a great job at the event she was at last weekend and enjoyed meeting all the new people and dogs. She adapts very well to change and goes with the flow in any new situation or setting we have put her in. Lilly currently weighs about 25 pounds and our vet thinks she will be about 35-40 pounds as an adult dog. We have no idea what mix she is for sure, but whatever it is, it sure is a wonderful combination!

Right now, we are working with Lilly on her shoe fetish. She will take a shoe and run faster than you can even take them off. We are trying to have treats ready and as soon as she starts to take a shoe or begins running away with them, we tell her to drop the shoe and sit. We then reward her with a treat. The hardest part is to catch her right away, as she is very fast. So far, she doesn't chew them; she just prefers to grab and run! The picture is of Lilly with the stash she acquired while I changed a load of laundry. This was before we started putting the shoes out of reach.

Hi, everyone, Lilly here! I know that many of you are looking for a purebred Golden to be your new family member. However, I also know that you may look at all my information and consider that I may fill your heart and home with love and laughter too. I was given an amazing opportunity to live a long and happy life when some very special people rescued me from the streets of Puerto Rico. Even if you aren't 100% sure that I may be "the one," but you are perhaps thinking it is a possibility, I encourage you to talk to your placement advisors. My foster family would love to talk to you about meeting me and answer any questions you might have. I do travel from time to time to the Minneapolis area, so a meeting can be arranged in that area if you are far from my home in southwest Minnesota. Well, I better get back to playing with my doggy friends here and then settling in for my morning snooze!

Hi, everyone! I wanted to let you know that I will be at Chuck and Don's in Edina this Saturday, November 8th, from 12 to 2pm. I really hope you will come out and meet me there! I am traveling from rural Minnesota back to the Big City just so I can meet a few new people.

I am really trying to be good here and show them all my manners. However, sometimes I eat pencils, run away with shoes, and try to steal toys from my foster human siblings. Sometimes I just can't help myself. I do a lot of good things too. I really enjoy going on walks, sit almost anytime I am told to, and have been sitting by the door when I have to go outside. I also am always good in my crate.

One of my favorite things to do is to wrestle with the resident dogs here. We play catch, tug, and tag. I would enjoy another playmate, but I am also just fine without another dog. I spent the day at foster grandma and grandpa's last weekend and did really well there. They had 2 cats, which I left alone after a couple of barks. I had fun playing with the humans there and also being an only dog. Dog/no dog, cat/no cat, kids/no kids, fence/no fence....it is all okay! I am really quite flexible with my future living arrangement.

Hi, Lilly fans! It has been a crazy week for Miss Lilly and she has really adapted to a lot of changes well! Lilly arrived at our house a couple of weeks ago after spending some time with a couple of short-term fosters. We fell in love with her the moment we saw her.

Lilly does have a few flaws, but don’t we all! Right now, she is truly all puppy, but she is still young and learning manners. She will jump up on people when they least expect it and I am sure she would knock down a very small kiddo if she thought they were playing. She is just sweet as apple pie and her behaviors are simply related to manners. She can be very mouthy at times and needs to continue to learn that you need to have a soft mouth on your humans. We simply redirect her with toys and praise her when she is being good.

Lilly is one of those dogs whose eyes just seem to speak to you. On top of that, she is a charmer, cute as a button and is a master at “sit.” She will sit at the door to show you she is ready to go out, sit on the way in to show you she is ready to come in, sits if she even thinks she has a chance at an ice cube, and sits pretty much anytime she thinks she might get a treat. Lilly sleeps all night long in her crate without a peep. She also goes to her crate when she and our resident dogs get a little too rowdy with the wrestling matches and they all need to calm down. Lilly never makes a noise while in the crate, even when we are around. After she runs off all her energy by playing in the yard or going on long walks, she likes to snuggle up with whomever she can. My daughter says, “Mom, she just gives me those cute puppy dog eyes and how can I resist?!”

Lilly loves to play with our two dogs and I am pretty sure she thinks she is the same size as them, even though she is about half their weight right now. Lilly would be great with other dog friends in her new home or in a home as an only dog if she has opportunities to meet other dogs. She does get along with cats. She will bark at them if they are ignoring her, but stops with a quick redirection. She also would chase a cat that runs, but never with the intent to hurt them. She and our cat coexist well, and we trust her with her at this point.

After Lilly was with us for about a week, she met an amazing lady and her extended family. They all fell in love with her and a few days later adopted her and took her home. However, in life we all have unexpected things that happen. Her new adoptive mom had to have an unexpected surgery. She knew it would dramatically affect the time she could spend with Lilly right now at this very important time in her puppy life and made the extremely difficult, but loving, decision to surrender Lilly back to RAGOM. We thank her for putting Lilly first even though she loved her dearly. We also would like to thank her for donating her adoption fee to RAGOM to help support all RAGOM does.

Lilly is back with us and living the dream life in her foster home. Well, except one thing...she would REALLY like a family to call her own.

Lilly arrived in Minneapolis late last Wednesday night. As I opened her crate, she cautiously poked her nose out of the door and tentatively stepped out into the night. Once she was sure it was safe, she immediately approached me for kisses and reassurance.

She had a chaotic trip to the vet on Friday for a microchip and was a good girl on the table while she got her implant. She weighed in at 16.7 pounds. Perhaps a difference in scales, or she may have lost a little weight in transit. But she is a good eater and should gain the weight back while she continues to grow.

On Saturday, she joined her sisters for a trip to her first Meet and Greet. She was a little unsure of this new environment and it was a busy day at the Petco with several other rescue groups having events as well. Lilly wanted to greet all of the dogs (she loves big dogs), but she was also a little afraid and she gets a little snippy when she is afraid.

Lilly is a funny combination of curious and fearful. She is the first one of the pups to wander off on her own and explore and is fine being out of sight of her people for periods of time. She was the smallest of her litter, and it is clear that she is still trying to prove that she is a big girl now.

Lilly does her business immediately when being let outside . . . but has selective hearing when it is time to go back inside. She whines in her crate when she needs to go to the bathroom and seems to be going to the back door once in a while to let me know she has to go. For now, she and the other girls are still on a strict potty schedule, but she is a smart girl and I think she is pretty close to being housebroken.

She loves to run and play and wrestle with the other dogs. She will carry around the stuffies and does not seem inclined to rip them apart. But she thinks that the edges of the carpet are pretty interesting as well. A few sprays of Bitter Apple have been a good deterrent for her carpet fetish. She is obsessed with my resident Golden and runs up to her and gives her kisses whenever she comes in the house or comes out of her crate.

Lilly loves to snuggle and will come and sit in front of you when she gets sleepy and wants to be picked up and cuddled. She is sleeping through the night in a crate in the master bedroom and is fine when she is crated when the girls need a break from each other or while I am away from home.

This lovely little Sato (Puerto Rican "street dog") is a precious love bug and should do well as an only dog (with lots of human interaction) or as a second dog (if the other dog wants to play). She is SO ready for her new home. And, in case you were wondering, she speaks English and not Spanish.
