Lulu came into my foster home about 3 weeks ago, but due to so much rain and thunderstorms which she has a major fear of, I apologize to everyone for not getting her update done sooner.

Lulu is a 9-year-old purebred Golden Retriever; her date of birth is 11/26/05. She comes in weighing about 59 lbs. She did have mid ear infection, but this is now cleared up. Lulu is very beautiful, easy-going, gets along with my 2 resident dogs and does not seem to mind the cat (not like the cat spends all day with the dogs); they are in two different living quarters. She has had free roam since first day and no issues whatsoever. She has never gotten on the couch or even thought about it. She sleeps at night beside the bed and doesn't care to get onto the bed. Lulu looks like someone has given her a shorter haircut. She has some feathering (but not long like most Golden Retrievers) on the back of her legs, under her belly area, and on her tail; her feet have the looks of some major hair tufts if left to grow out.

Lulu is in a fenced yard and has made no attempt to escape. She does eat a lot of grass, but nothing ever comes back up, which is a good thing. Her intake sheet stated that she will bolt out a door. We have not really seen this, but again we're very careful of watching what is going on with the open doors in this house.

She came from being on a tie-out to my fenced yard. She knows her name, but doesn't always come when you call her, but will look at you as if to say, "You called me, what?" and than she may hide in the lilac bushes and stare at me as if to say, "I see you, but you can't see me." She plays games in the backyard, not always wanting to come back in. I would like her to go to a home with a fenced yard.

One issue that Lulu does have is major storm anxiety. She was here maybe 48 hours when the first rain just came through and she went into panic mode. She actually started the stress mode about 3 hours before the rain ever set in. I have never seen this behavior so early before the rain came in. It's like she was predicting the weather better than the weatherman does or does not. She pants and hides besides my resident dog's kennel, but that didn't last very long. She now hides under my sewing table in the corner or behind my easy chair. Most often, I have put a T-shirt on tight to most dogs and they are fine and the anxiety settles down, but not with Lulu. For the first time as a foster, I have had to make the investment of a Thundershirt for her and have not yet to see if it will work or help her anxiety level. After a rainstorm or any rain, it takes about 24 hours or more for her to settle back down completely again.

As you can see in the pictures attached, Lulu has learned what the toy box is and really enjoys chewing on the softer Nylabones. She loves tennis balls and just emptying the toy box is fun to her.
