Beautiful Shawnee arrived a few days ago, and has been a joyful addition to our home. She just turned 6, and at 48 pounds, she is a stunning, petite red-haired beauty! Shawnee was well cared for by her family and lived a quiet life without much exposure to people outside her family. We went to the vet yesterday, and with the exception of two ear infections and rash on her stomach, she is in great health. She is current on her vaccinations and has already been spayed. Shawnee is on meds which will clear up her ears quickly.

Shawnee was quite scared when she arrived, which is understandable given the transition from a very quiet home to meeting lots of new people and an active home. Right away, she was comfortable with my kids (9 and 12), but stayed away from me. Within a few hours, she was exploring the backyard, retrieving balls, and tossing her toys in the air - pure joy! I don't think Shawnee had the opportunity to run before, but she looked like she was in heaven running around our fenced backyard.

My resident Mia and Shawnee had a minor scuffle because Mia can be a little cranky when a new dog arrives. Shawnee played well with dogs, befriended a baby lamb, and got along well with cats while living with her family. She's tried to engage in play with Mia, tossing her toys and play bowing, but Mia is still pouting. We've only had Shawnee for two days, and she already blossomed! Shawnee is so playful and affectionate, and really loves being with people. Within a few hours, she started hanging with me, and now I can't get any work done because I'm too busy playing with her and rubbing her tummy. Will write more as we learn more about Shawnee.
