Sadie is an 8-year-old female. She is very timid and scared of new people and noises; she spooks very easily. Sadie is currently being crate trained and is not house trained. She gets along very well with my resident Golden, and looks to her for support and avoids my cats. Sadie was not an inside dog, and she would rather be outside. She does show signs of anxiety, especially during thunderstorms. Sadie does not come back into the house freely; she goes outside on a long leash and we need to bring her in using the leash. Sadie needs a physical fence, because she will bolt if given the chance. She is up to date on shots and is scheduled for her spay surgery.
Sadie is a work in progress, and we are committed to let her show us her comfort level without forcing her. She needs a family who will be committed to continue training her and has a lot of time and patience. Sadie needs a home with an older dog that can show her good behavior. She would do best in a home with older children, because noises and fast movements startle her. Sadie rests best in a crate, and needs a safe, secure place, so a crate will need to be set up in the home for her to go for private time. A physical fence is definitely required.

Sorry for the late update, but we have been enjoying the nice weather. Our time has consisted of brushes, playing ball, pets, kisses and scratches.
Miss Sadie is quite a different girl from when she first arrived. She is realizing playing is a whole lot of fun. Sadie loves when I throw a ball, and she runs after it and brings it right back for more. She is starting to interact more and more with my resident dogs. Sadie wants to play so badly with them, but I think she is still a little unsure. She is starting to mingle with my cats, but could care less about them.
Sadie is very leery of drinking from a water bowl. However, she is getting better. She used to tense up if you pet her anywhere but under her chin. She now loves when I rub her all over; she will even roll over and let me rub her tummy.
Sadie is responding to her name more and more. She is starting to come inside when you call her, unless there is a bird or squirrel in the tree. I also found out she likes to chew on things other than her bones….we are working on that.
Sadie still startles easily and is very scared when it storms. I just let her be and she comes to me when she wants to be loved….this is happening more and more. Sadie knows we are kind to her and love her very much. She still has her good days and not-so-good days. Just like people, sometimes she prefers to be alone.
Sadie’s forever home will need the following:
- Lots of love and patience
- Physical fence
- No small children, +10 years
- Someone committed in her training
- Older, confident dog
- Someone who works from home or is home a lot
- Gentle touches and kisses
Sadie is a beautiful, dark red, petite (60 lb), sweet girl. She is still a work in progress, and has a ways to go before she trusts fully. If you can commit to her, and have a home that will fit her needs, please contact your placement advisor.

First, I would like to report Miss Sadie had her spay surgery….no more puppies for her to care for, now it is her turn!
Sadie is still incredibly shy and scared around new people or things. When someone new comes over, she will go back into my room or her crate until they leave. When she first arrived, she would not come out of our bedroom, and is now starting to come into the living room to check out her foster dog sisters. She will not go outside at all if it even looks or smells like it is going to storm, and unfortunately, it is storm season. Sadie is slowly coming around to eat out of her doggy bowl and is still rather frightened by her water dish. I mix her dry food with a little moist canned food to help her eat better. I also will hand feed her to help get her started.
Sadie sure knows when I am cooking dinner! She is a little unsure of men and especially does not like it if they are wearing hats. She has some dental issues, so I am giving her elk antlers first to try to clean her teeth rather than having her teeth surgically cleaned….I hope that works.
Sadie is becoming my Velcro dog and likes to be everywhere I am. She does bark if she is outside and is startled or if she sees someone walking a dog. Sadie is still very uncertain on how to interact with my cats.
Sadie is making small baby steps. We are trying to show her she can trust us. I take her outside and brush her pretty red hair and promise her a Golden Life. We love this sweet girl and are pretty protective over her. Sadie will need a family who will commit a lot of time to her training, helping her gain the confidence she deserves, has older children because fast and loud movements scare her very bad. She needs a home with a physical fence and an older, confident dog.
