Chocolate chip, Oreo, Snickerdoodle? Nope! Cookie is a beautiful young Golden girl! Cookie is as sweet as they come. She is a warm, rich, dark golden color. She is as smooth as butter and as soft as velvet frosting. Enough of this as it is making me hungry!!

Now the good stuff about Cookie. She is a young female at 8 months old, DOB 7/29/13. She is spayed and current on her vaccinations. She is very playful as a pup her age is. She plays nonstop with my 10-month-old male Golden, Hotch. She likes to give hugs and likes to crawl up on your lap for belly rubs. Cookie does exhibit some resource guarding over her toys and bones. That is easily directed by offering to trade with her. As long as you have a good smelling/tasting treat, she is willing to do just that. She also likes to play keep away. Again, offering a treat to trade and she will give up the game willingly. Cookie is house trained. She goes to the door or will ring a bell by the door when she wants to go out. Now that nice weather is here, she loves to go out a lot!! Cookie is kennel trained and spends the night in her crate. During the day, she is free to run around the house as I am retired and home all the time. Cookie is fine with my old, young, big, and small dogs. She is also OK with my cats. Cookie has a couple of not-so-great habits......she will bolt out of a car when the door is opened. She will do the same when the house door is opened. She also jumps up a lot......on people, doors, counters, etc.; you get the idea. Neither of these are a deal breaker! With training and consistency on your part, she can learn to be the great companion we all love. Cookie lived with children, but I do not have any of those around to see how she reacts, but because she jumps up, I would think older kids would be a must.

If Cookie is the kind of sweet treat you have been craving, well, you know what to do next. Can't wait to hear from you so I can tell you all about this sweet girl.

From Cookie's forever parents to her foster parents:

Lexi is so at home here, and I think our mutual contentment and affections are abundant evidence of that. She has found her forever home!!

In sum, she has slept on our bed every night, and has adapted well to our patterns, sleeping all night, except once when she alerted me to let her out. We have a great dog food (Fromm's) and have started giving her frozen cow bones from the pet food store (Chuck & Don's on Lake St in Minneapolis). She was working on that and a hoof much of today. She is eating well, adapting to our mix of meat and veggies with dog food. She did have one potty accident. We don't believe in ever punishing, but in redirecting.

We exercised at least twice daily, with 11 runs in all, totally 33 miles. We went her pace the whole time, and she mostly ran on grass and, when necessary, pavement, and a crushed gravel trail. Her paws and pawpads look excellent. One wood tick so far. Met numerous dogs, chased many squirrels and rabbits, met 2 nieces and 2 nephews this week, and she got along incredibly well. Kids at the bus stop adore her. She had her first walk in a lake yesterday (very clean), and just sat in it studying waves. She jumped in the shower three times, but got out once I intended to bathe her. She may like our pool, once it opens May 31- we'll see. She had her first DQ pup cup Saturday, and her first car ride since we brought her home. She is also getting used to my/our leaving, but does want to go with us each time. It felt after 3 days that we were getting bonded, really. She is receiving innumerable cuddles and rubdowns and seems truly contented. She's also mellowed from her initial hyperactivity, and I attribute the exercise to that. She does love tug of war, which we play a lot each day.

I have many photos and videos of her, and I'll attach a few photos here.

Thank you both again!! We feel blessed to have Lexi (Cookie) for our little girl. We look forward to giving her a little brother in 6 months or so.

Take care, and blessings to you both in your continued good work for our deserving Golden friends.

Cookie made her long journey from Atlantic to Waseca on Sunday. She is just a joy. At 8 months, she has more maturity than most pups I've been around. She understands how to sit, shake, come (when she wants), and is fully housetrained.

Her favorite game is fetch, but she has trouble giving the ball back so you can throw again. She likes to chew on it a few times. If she does drop it, she'll grab it back the second you start to reach for it. She has the same resource guarding issue with bones, and we're working on that.

Things are still a little tense between my resident Shiba and Cookie. Just as with the previous foster (Reese), it's all Murphy. Cookie just wants to play, but Murphy has to adjust to sharing the limelight of his owner. They have had a few play sessions and some moments of cuteness together.

Cookie is a terrific dog that will only be with me for a short time. Her adopters are going to be thrilled with this girl!
