Updates

Monday, April 21, 2014

Cassie continues to be the adorable little girl.  She will be going in for her final heartworm treatments on April 23rd and 24th so please send her all the pawsitive thoughts you can, she will need them.

I am a bit sad to say that I have noticed that Cassie will duck and crouch down if I move my arm to high or to fast.  I think she may have been hit in the past.  Sometimes I have to raise the leash in the yard to get her to unwind or unwrap from something and if my arm gets past soulder height she cowers and will flinch.  I think she is starting to learn she will not be hurt or hit but I think this is an old habit for her.

I just cannot get over how cute this little one is.  And she is FULL of personality. When we come inside from bathroom breaks she, even on a leash, will spin, stop and spin her whole body, then foster mom is a total party pooper and makes her stop and calm down.  She is very treat motivated and I think she will do well with more training.  She will sit, come, kennel, and sometimes listens when I tell her to "go potty".  We are working on that last one.

I will update again after her treatments next week.

Cassie and Jack enjoying a weekend morning

Ahhh the good life

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Hi RAGOM land, it’s me Cassie.  Foster Mom said I could send in my own update today.

Let me first say that I want to give all of you as many kisses as I can.  I love to give kisses, it’s how you know I love you after all.  That and when I snuggle with my human and foster brother Jack. My foster mom enjoys it when I settle down and with a deep breath nod off to sleep on her lap.  Sometimes I like to squish myself between the couch and my foster mom.  I will lay on my back, feet up and fall fast asleep.  Foster mom says I snore a little bit when I sleep like this. She says it’s cute.  But she always tells me I’m cute.  “Cute as a button” she says, every day.

I am trying to learn not to jump up on humans.  I am a work in progress, but we all are right??

Foster mom says I’m sick right now.  That I must stay calm and not run and play like I REALLY want to.  I get to go outside on a leash and when I am too excited I have to stay on the leash inside or go into my crate till I calm down.  Sometimes I cry to let foster mom know that I really want to be with her, SO badly! She won’t talk to me when I do that though.  She waits till I am being quiet and calm.  I am figuring out how to bust outta that crate, just have to be a good girl and doors open up like magic.

Next Friday is a big day for me I guess.  I hear I am going to have my first heart worm treatment injection.  I guess it is going to make me all better and when the worms are gone I can find my forever family.  I can’t wait!!!!

I am happy 100% of the time.  Sometimes I bark at another dog who is barking in the neighborhood.  Just sayin’ HI!  So far since I have been to Minnesota I have seen the vet a couple of times, met some really nice people, met my foster brother Jack (I think he has a crush on me cuz he keeps following me around the house and when I lay down he lays right next to me), I have had a bath which I hear I was a good girl when in the tub and after. I have had my nails trimmed which was ok, no problems there, ears cleaned, ripped up some stuffed toys, slept all night in bed with my foster mom with no accidents (however I did have a little accident on Monday, sorry foster mom). I love to sleep in bed with foster mom, I started out at the foot of the bed and by morning I was snoozing on the same pillow with her.  It’s ALL good!!!

Doggie smooches to all of you!!!

Love Cassie

Cassie and foster brother Jack taking a nap.

Friday, February 7, 2014

Cassie's adventures have been pretty low key this week.  We are still making progress on her jumping up. She gets better every day. We are working on sit and down and she has decided that "sit" is actually "down" and would rather do that than "sit" "stay" or "come". She is very food motivated now that she has gotten used to our home. She gets along very well with her foster brother Jack. They each take turns snuggling on the couch with me.

We had a big moment last evening when she went to the back door and waited to go outside to do her "big business". I was VERY pleased she was such a good girl! We still have had no accidents in the house. She is still sleeping in her crate at night and while I am at work. She is kept company with foster brother Jack in a crate right next to hers.

Cassie will make a wonderful companion. She loves her human foster mom and likes to try to get her foster brother to play (he does not play very much but he applauds her efforts) by giving Jack a very deep play bow. When that does not work for her she turns her big brown eyes to me, wondering why there is no play to be had.

Foster mom gets plenty of kisses from this little cutie, she just can't show her appreciation enough at having love, attention, food, water and clean bedding. She also has a favorite toy, a stuffed Pooh bear. Sometimes she lays her head on him when she naps, just too adorable for words.

Cassie will be getting her first heartworm treatment injection on 2/21/14. She will spend the day at the vet office so she can be monitored for at least 8 hours. She will then come home with me and she must be kept quiet and calm for 30 days until she has a second treatment, then another 30 days of quiet and calm. The reason for this is if her heart starts pumping too much or too fast (with play and or exercise) she could have a clot and that could be fatal. The heartworm treatments are very expensive so if you are looking for a sweet pup to sponser please consider this little souther belle from Georgia. We will also take any positive thoughts you could send her way while she goes through the next few months.

Cassie continues to enjoy her new golden life here in Minnesota.  She is still cute as a button. We have had no accidents in the house and Cassie has been given plenty of free roam when I can watch her activity level and keep her calm.

More to come on her adventures.
