I'd like to introduce Miss Liberty 13-309. She is a 8 year old PB Golden Retriever. She was surrendered to RAGOM because her family no longer had time for her.

Liberty was very well taken care of. I have all her records from the breeder to now. I had her in to the vet for a wellness check and to get up to date on all vaccines. Since Liberty is 8 years old she had a "senior" blood panel done. Liberty is in Excellent condition other than she has ear infections [very common] and she could maybe loose 3-5 lbs. Liberty has a beautiful coat and weighs 68 lbs. Nothing but great news from Dr Becky.

Liberty was a bit nervous the first day or so at my house but has really settled in quickly. Liberty hadn't been walked in years, but was easily able to walk over 3 miles on our first trip. We did over 5 miles today in 2 trips. Very easy for her but not so easy for me! Liberty really enjoys the walks here and all the new smells. She did pull a bit on the leash but will stop any time you call her name. She has very good recall. Looking through her records I saw that she had attended obedience training. She also gives a "sit" pretty easy. Liberty also knows what "No" means. She really is a very well behaved dog and a pleasure to have around.

Liberty had lived with cats previously and does pretty good with mine unless they run fast. Then she will chase, but not in any way hurt them. Liberty met my resident golden and the neighbor's beagle and another neighbor's Husky mix with no problems. She would love to play chase with other dogs. I tried to see if she would "fetch" a hard rubber ball but she showed no interest. I'll have to try tennis balls or a stick because she is supposed to love to fetch. Liberty is said to love water and swimming.

Liberty had one pee "accident" in the house the first night here. She was pacing a lot and drinking a lot of water [very typical] and had been out several times in a couple hours. No accidents since then.

Liberty came from a family with younger kids [infant to 8 years old] The surrendering owner said she got "anxiety" more as they had more kids. I haven't witnessed her behavior around kids so I don't know how she acts. The lack of exercise and attention could be a factor. She had never bitten or threatened to bite the kids and has shown no aggression of any kind here. They did say that thunderstorms and fireworks do scare her and gave her meds to help her with that and she came with a "Thundershirt".

Here are some of Liberty's highlights that I have seen so far:

  • Liberty is very friendly and loves all attention
  • Liberty is good with cats and all other dogs we have met
  • Liberty rides very well in cars and likes to go with
  • Liberty really has no bad habits that I have seen
  • Liberty likes to snuggle and gives kisses if you let her

As far as what I think Liberty needs in a forever home, its pretty basic

  • Love and attention
  • Good food
  • A commitment to exercise every day

Liberty had a family come to meet her last Sunday. Liberty showed them her normal charm and won their hearts. I think they would have adopted my whole pack if they could have. We both thought about it and Liberty was "Adoption Pending" until Saturday when they came back and adopted Liberty. I have to say that Liberty is the nicest foster dog I've had so far. I think the R family hit the jackpot with her.

Thank You so much R family for adopting Liberty 13-309. I hope to see lots of "Happy Endings" updates. Welcome to your new life Liberty.
