Chance is a sweetheart, and is a pleasure to have around. He is very affectionate and loves to lay next to my chair where he can receive lots of pets and gentle scratches. He is a recently neutered PB Golden Retriever who was found as a stray in Iowa. He had no tags and wasn't microchipped.

He weighs 68.8 lbs and is approximately 10-12 years old. He is now chipped and up to date on shots. He is crate trained and appears to be potty trained, though he has lifted his leg a time or two, but I quickly shuffled him outside to do his business. This sweet ole boy loves attention, and at the same time is happy to go in his crate and sleep. He gets along beautifully with Morgan, my 11-year-old Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix. His energy level is called "what's the hurry," however he will do a few retrieving "exercises." He loves my teenage daughter almost as much as she loves him, and will great her when she walks into the room. The first few nights went well; he slept great and so did I! When I am not home, he is crated and seems to actually enjoy his alone time. When I return home, he is always sleeping peacefully and doesn't get up until I open the crate door. He is eating well, but does need hand-feeding to start. Chance has shown no signs of resource guarding. He would require a fenced-in yard, since he has tried to escape out the garage when the door was opened. Chance seems to enjoy seeing our Guinea Pig a little too much. He also shows an "interest" in cats, so should probably go to a home without cats. He hasn't experienced children under five yet, though as sweet and easy-going as he is with everyone that he has met, I can see him being accepting of all.

He walks well on a leash. The vet says due to his lack of muscle tone in his rear legs that short walks each day are good for him. Due to his condition, a forever home without stairs would be best. He is currently on drops for an ear infection. He does have cataracts, but from what I can see, he clearly is an awesome dog! Check out the picture below. He would make a wonderful, furry companion to someone....Is that someone you?

It has been a week now since Chance has been with us. we are his new foster family in Aitkin, MN, and I just have to say that it has been a week full of fun and love! Chance is a VERY loving, very gentle Golden Retriever senior that has so much love and companionship to offer. He is completely happy when he has a full belly, a soft warm bed, and foster Mom or Dad next to him lovingly giving him attention. Chance's confidence is soaring daily as he plays with his foster brother and sister and four cats!!!! Needless to say, Chance does not mind cats. They even nap together, and on occasion, I have witnessed Chance giving a "bath" to the cats when he thinks no one is watching. Due to Chance's medical issues of Vestibular Disease and arthritis, Chance will need a forever home that has no stairs or a VERY limited amount of stairs as his balance is effected. Don't let his medical issues scare you. He may be 11 years old, and he may have a few issues, but he has the heart, soul, and mind of a young, sweet, loving Golden! Our lives have forever changed having this sweet boy with us this past week. He has taught us that no matter what life throws at you, don't give up!

Chance is a great foster dog! He fits right in with our human and canine family. He especially loves my teen daughter, our Shepherd/Golden mix, Morgan, and myself, his foster mom. Now that I have had him for 3 months, I believe he would do best in a home with another big dog. He relies on Morgan to be his ears, since he is extremely hard of hearing. He is perfectly content with following Morgan's cues. We attended our first RAGOM event, and he was a perfect gentleman. He thoroughly enjoyed all the attention from the people and dogs! He would do best in a forever home without stairs due to the fact his hips don't work that well in his senior years. Chance's favorite pastimes are sleeping, retrieving a stuffed animal, sleeping, taking a stroll around the block, sleeping, receiving treats, sleeping, giving kisses, sleeping, going for car rides, and most of all, sleeping. He is a very easy-going, go-with-the-flow kind of dog, and is a breeze to foster!
