Here comes Ritzy……

Ritzy has been with us for 5 days now.  Those 5 days have been full of changes for her.  First, she now gets to live INSIDE!!  Ritzy had been an outside dog for most of her 7 years.  She has done great with the adjustment.  It took her about 30 seconds in this strange thing called a house for her to realize that indoor living is a great thing.  It was very hot the day she arrived and it was so nice and COOL in the house, plus she can be right by her humans as much as she wants. Add rugs and dog pillows to lie on and  wow, for Ritzy, this is heaven!!  She has not had a single accident and is a pretty mellow gal.  She doesn’t let us forget to give her some skritches once in a while, tho.  Her favorite place is her tummy, and she will readily roll over on her back to give you nice and easy access to the tummy.  At night, she goes right into her kennel (ok, I admit, she likes it better if I put a treat in first) and stays there quietly until we get up in the morning.  Can’t beat that! She has lived outside with two other dogs.  Most of the time, she pretty much ignores our resident dog, Lacy.  But, Ritzy is still going through an adjustment period with a dog who is new to her. If Lacy and Ritzy get too close in a confined space, Ritzy will let Lacy know she is not comfortable yet with the togetherness.

Stay tuned for more.  We will update soon as we get to know this sweet girl better.

Ritzy is a loving, 7 year old female Golden Retriever sweetheart who is a favorite in the family and neighborhood. She gets MANY compliments – often from strangers  (“What a BEAUTIFUL dog!” ).  Ritzy’s confident, eye-out-for-squirrels, slightly prancy gait and deep red coat make her a real eye-catcher. Despite her intrigue with squirrels and little fur critters, Ritzy is quick to roll over for a belly rub from humans, especially kids. She has a heart for little children and makes them feel at ease with her little licks and patience.

Her favorite activities are walking (especially wooded areas with fur critters), visiting (anywhere, anyone), riding in the car or paddleboat, shopping (pet or human stores), sleepovers with mom at Grandpa and Grandma’s lake home and their RAGOM Golden Polly 08-581, picking raspberries (herself!),“talking” and cuddling. She seems proud of herself when she successfully does new things.

She has blossomed into a mature, sweet and animated Golden and an excellent communicator -who is a delight to her mom. She is my little fur blessing and I am grateful for her every day.
