Beau 12-352

Profile

Beau and his sister 12-353 Molly arrived this weekend from southern Iowa, and were surrendered by a loving loving family that moved to place that didn't allow dogs. Beau must have lived a wonderful life because he is a happy, well adjusted, playful, typical golden boy. He is 8 years old, neutered, really beautiful and has a very dense and blond coat. We are going to the vet this weekend for a check-up and to be microchipped, but he seems to be in great health with the exception of being about 10 lbs overweight. That's easy to fix! We started a diet and daily walks. He really pulls on a leash, so we are learning to walk with a gentle leader.

Beau is such a gentlemen, is potty trained, has free roam of the house when I am gone, wonderful with dogs and love kids. I try to keep my kids away from new dogs for a few days to give them time to chill, but Beau has other plans! He wants love and to play! He gets along with my resident Mia very well, loves to play tug with toys and they chase each other around the yard. He romps around and play bows and looks like a big puppy in the yard. Beau sleeps in my room at night, and is a perfect, playful addition to the pack. Neither Beau nor Molly really bark, which would be a great thing to teach Mia!

Beau and Molly have lived together their entire life, but again he is very well adjusted and they are not dependent on each other. Molly likes to be in charge of the toys, and I think Beau kind of digs having 1:1 time with Mia who plays a little nicer. :)

I'll write more once I get to know him a bit better, but if you are interested in learning more about Beau, please contact your placement advisor.

Beau aka “Beau Beau” has been with me since October and he is the love of my life! We are mutually attached at the hip J. I didn’t change his name because I didn’t want to confuse him and the clock tower at Michigan State, where I went to school, is called Beaumont Tower, so it was fate. He has never pottied in the house, he doesn’t bark or tear the place up when I’m at work, he just follows me around and lays next to my feet…he’s the perfect dog!

Pretty quickly after bringing him home, I learned that he can roll over! I was trying to see if he knew “shake” and he just looked at me like I had a third eye and then rolled over almost like he was saying, how ‘bout this?! He is so smart and such a sweetie.

He loved visiting my family in Michigan for Christmas because they have a Golden his age, Sadie. She warmed up to him quickly and they followed each other around, snooping in Christmas presents and fishing for attention! They came to visit for Easter last month and Beau loved showing Sadie his walking route. He has probably marked every blade of grass along that route! There’s a lake close by that we’ve walked to now that it’s been warm outside. He swam in the lake once before it got cold last year, but it was more of an awkward stomping than a swim! I figured he hadn’t ever swam before, but he ran right in this spring and brought a big log back to shore. He did that all afternoon and then passed out and slept all evening!

Beau is on the left and Sadie is on the right.
