I'd like to introduce Murphy 12-184. He came to RAGOM from Minneapolis animal control where he was a owner surrender for unknown reasons. Murphy looks to be a Yellow Lab-Border Collie mix. He is said to be 4 years old. He weighs 66 lbs which is a little heavy for his size by 5-8 lbs. He is a very handsome boy. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He needs a fecal test, flea /tick preventive and heartworm preventive yet and will get them very soon.
I've had Murphy for a couple days now and he is settling in pretty well. He did have the new home jitters and nervousness that most dogs have. Murphy met my resident dog [Ziggy], other foster dog [Raven] and cat with no problems at all. Murphy seems to be a very mild mannered dog. I haven't kid tested him yet, but I doubt there would be any problem.
Murphy has had training and been worked with. He comes when called very well. He also sits, lay down, sit up pretty and heals. He may do more that I haven't tried yet. Murphy does pull on the leash at the beginning of a walk but will heal on command. I tried a gentle leader on him for only a short time and he didn't like it but I will try again. I think he really isn't that bad on the flat collar. He has done real well meeting all the neighbor dogs on walks. He can walk 3 1/2 miles with no problems.
Murphy hasn't counter surfed yet or gotten in the waste baskets. He has had a couple accidents in the house mostly due to my not knowing his signal that he has to go out and with his nervous water drinking of the first days. We will both be working on that.

5/29/2012 Murphy met his new furever family tonight.
6/1/2012 Murphy was adopted by the Y family. Thank you for opening your heart and home to Murphy.
Since the last update Murphy has continued to be a very sweet loving dog. He passed the needed tests at the vet. He really enjoys riding in the car or truck. He loves to just look at all the new things.
I wish him and his new family the best. Welcome to your new life Murphy.
