Shaggy 12068 we found out is named Elvis and responds to this name. He is a 6 year old Pure Bred Male GR living in Shakopee with his Foster Parents. He was neutered on Feb 22, is micro chipped and is up to date on Shots. Elvis came to our home 2/25, he was brought from a shelter in Iowa. He seemed comfortable on the ride but did want to be in the front seat. He was pretty easy to get in and out of the car. He put his head on the arm rest between the front seats and would nudge when he wanted you to keep petting him.

Elvis seems to have adjusted quickly and has not shown any resource guarding. FM was able to hand feed him and put her hand in his bowl while he was eating. Here is what I can say based on what I know so far:

  1. He loves to go for walks, but is just as happy laying around the house.
  2. He does tug on the leash and we will be using a gentle leader and work with him on this.
  3. He is fine with cats.
  4. He has done a little counter surfing but he is easily redirected and we are working on that.
  5. He will only get on the couch or bed if called or if there is something outside he is interested in (if the couch is near the window as ours is). He will get down if you ask him to.
  6. He sleeps fine in his cage at night with the door open.
  7. He loves attention but is not a Velcro dog. He will let you know when he wants attention.
  8. He loves a ball and will either fetch or will just roll it around on the floor by himself.

Hi Shaggy/Elvis Fans! Elvis would like me to apologize for not writing something right after the meet and
greet on Sunday. He would also like to thank everyone that was there for all the belly rubs, he was so tired when he came home that he slept for an hour before he wanted his next belly rub.

Elvis has shown us more of his wonderful personality this week and we are amazed at how quickly he has adjusted to our home and family. This week he decided to protect the cat from our resident dog (who plays with the cat) he blocked our resident dog putting himself inbetween the two and just stood there, it was funny watching him as I hadn’t seen him pay much attention to her before.

Elvis has begun to give us better signals when he would like to go out and is slowly learning commands like wait on the stairs, it is still a struggle to get him to wait to go outside. He still hates the gentle leader but does well on it after we have walked a bit.

We will be meeting with a family that is interested in Elvis this week and hope that the family is a match! Elvis is really excited and hopes to meet his furever family. We will surely miss him when he leaves but this is part of fostering and it actually feels really good finding a home for a rescue.

Below is a photo of Elvis, our resident cat and dog all sleeping on our bed (not sure where we were expected to sleep but worked it out).

Elvis would like to thank everyone who will be going to the event tonight at Summit and wishes he was going as he loves his belly rubs.
