This beautiful girl is Ziggy! She is an 8 yr. old PB. She is spayed, she is very blonde and about 80lbs or so. We will know more about that when we go visit the vet next week. She has not been with us long so we are still learning about her and will keep you updated, but I wanted to get her pretty face out for you all to see.

She was given to a family about a year and half ago, who really never wanted her, said they are not dog people and she had to go!! (not sure why they took her in the first place).  So now she belongs to the RAGOM family and is looking for her furever home that are dog people!! She came with allergies pills that she takes twice a day and she takes them very well! We will find out more about these allergies when we go see the vet.

This girl had a very long ride to get to me, about 9 hours and she did fantastic, she loves to ride in the car!! And she loves everyone she meets with wagging tail. She was not walked at all, just always let out in the fenced yard, so she has not gotten much exercise. She does pull a little on the leash which is to be expected being she is not used to it! We were told she is housebroke and has free roam while gone.

So far she has went outside every time to go potty and has had free roam without issues, we will keep you updated on that also.

She met our cat without issue, a little curious about her but that is it. So far she seems very sweet and easy going, stay tuned for more updates on this sweet girl!

Updates

Hi, Ziggy here again/yet,

Since my last update, I started feeling worse and almost stopped eating right before the 4th of July. Dad was very worried about me and gave me lots of hugs and pets. He was very worried that I might have to suffer before I crossed the Rainbow Bridge because of the long holiday weekend. Fortunately all the worrying was for nothing. All of the sudden I took a liking to dry kibble dog food. I hadn't eaten just dog food in a couple months. Dad was so happy he cried watching me eat. I've been eating all my dog food every day since then.

Now the whites of my eyes and tongue are barely yellow. Dad says I may be in some type of remission from the liver failure. He says every day with me is a great day. He calls them "Bonus Days".

Now, on to the resident dog business. Skylee 14-136 is still here. She has settled down some and has learned a few things. Dad is taking her to a Meet & Greet in Edina on Saturday.

We had another RAGOM dog here on vacation. Her foster parents went on vacation also. Her name is Desiree 14-155. She is young, so she and Skylee had a blast playing all the time. She was here for a week.

Now we have a temp foster dog here named Sadie 14-218. She came from a kill shelter in Wisconsin. She was on death row. She was very stinky when she got here so she got some mats cut off and a double bath. She looks and smells much better now. She is very fluffy.

Well that pretty much catches things up for now. Thanks for checking on me and Thank You for supporting RAGOM, Ziggy 11-264

Hi, Ziggy here yet,

Dad thought I should send another update since a few things have happened.

I'm still doing ok with my liver failure. I seem to be slowly losing my strength and stamina. I'm still eating good most times. Dad is making me some very good meals. Hamburger and rice is one of my favorites but I also liked the roast beef and vegetables.

Grandpa and Grandma are here visiting from California. They are both pretty easy marks for some good food. All I have to do is sit by them when they are eating or snacking, and I get some. Dad says it is ok because there are no rules for me any more. I used to only get fed anything in the kitchen.

I'm still going on walks most evenings. I get very tired on the way home and go very slow. Dad says we will have to reduce the distance. We have been going 1 mile up to this point. I used to be able to go 5 miles and not hardly slow down. I also don't sleep in bed with dad all night like I used to. After a couple hours, I go lay on the ceramic tile bathroom floor or a dog bed.

Since my last update, my foster brother Leon got adopted. My sister Belle got in a fight with Leon's new sister. Thankfully Dad got the fight broke up before there were serious injuries. Leon and his sister are getting along just fine.

Shadow 14-132 also got adopted. I'm glad he found a family pretty quick.

A couple days after Shadow got adopted, Skylee 14-136 came. She was very stressed and had got in a fight at her 1st foster home, earlier that day. Dad and Belle took her for lots of walks and in a couple days she started to settle down some and relax. Skylee is only 14 months old so she has lots of energy. She doesn't have much for manners and has stepped on me a few times. I let her know that I didn't like that. Dad took Skylee to MNSnap yesterday to get spayed. She whined and cried some but got over it by bed time and was back to normal this morning. Dad says she should be adopted quickly.

We also had a house guest for overnight last night. The neighbor dog, Moe, the beagle mix came and stayed with us while his mom went out of town. We stop and see him at least a couple times a week when we are on walks. His mom gives me pets and treats.

That's about all for now. Thanks for checking up on me. Ziggy 11-264

Hi Ziggy fans, Ziggy here again,

Since my last update I got to go for a long ride to go visit with foster mom Bobbi Jo. I had a good time. She gave me lots of treats, pets and hugs. It was all happy until we went to leave and then FM started to cry for me. I tried to let her know it will be all right. I've had a great life since I came to RAGOM. I'm very thankful for that.

Since then I have been doing pretty good. Dad has to keep coming up with different meals that I will eat. I get tired of the same thing after a couple meals. I don't get tired of toast with peanut butter or Ritz crackers. I didn't used to get any food anywhere besides the kitchen. Now I get food anywhere.

We got a new foster dog the other day. He is a 14 week old puppy named Shadow 14-132. He is cute but can be very annoying at times. I bark at him when he jumps on me. I do go check on him if I hear him cry. Dad is very proud that I am still a good resident dog to the fosters.

Speaking of fosters, foster brother Leon has someone coming to meet him. Dad says they sound like a good family for him. Leon has been here for 4 months since he was returned. I like Leon. He will lay with me some times. My former foster sister Polly got loose and was on the run in North Dakota for almost a week. Dad was worried about her. She was caught 6 miles from her family's cabin.

My health is still holding out but my tongue and inside my ears are turning yellow as are the whites of my eyes. I am going for walks every evening yet. I like to visit the neighbor Sarah. I'm very slow on the way back home. I have to stop and smell everything. Dad makes the other dogs wait for me to catch up.

That's about all for now. Thanks for checking up on me and Thank You for supporting RAGOM. Ziggy 11-264

Hi, Ziggy here again,

Since my last update, Skylar has been adopted.

It was just me and Leon here for a short time before Jake 14-055 and Belle 14-056 came. They started out just being temp fostered here until a foster or fosters could be found for them. I got along fine with them right from the start but Leon took a couple days to warm up to them. Jake and Belle were almost like opposites. Jake was very nervous and excited and Belle was very calm and laid back. Jake got a foster and left a week or so later.

I started getting sick and lost my appetite. I normally would eat anything in sight. Dad took me to see Dr Becky. She did a blood test. The results were not good. My liver function was very bad and I was very low on iron. Next they did a x-ray and ultrasound. There was something wrong with my liver and it was enlarged. There were two possibilities: Bad infection or Cancer. I stayed at the vet clinic the rest of that day and went for the whole next day to get my system flushed out with iv fluids and got started on strong anti-biotics to fight the infection, if that's what it was. I had to come back in a week to get another blood test to see if the iron had gone up.

Dad had only been temp fostering Belle because he was wanting to take another breeder or puppy mill dog. With the news of my health issues he decided to just keep Belle as a permanent foster so he could focus more on me.

I went back to see Dr Becky for another blood test. My iron level was slightly higher so that was a good sign but not positive that it was only a infection. Another liver function test would have to wait a couple more weeks. Dad said it was like torture, waiting to find out. I had gotten a new diet of chicken, rice and vegetables. I liked that pretty well and ate most of my meals. Belle and Leon liked to clean my bowl after I got done. Dad said he didn't mind cooking special meals for me. He cooked special meals for Rocket for a couple months.

I seemed to be doing ok but was getting a little weaker. Dad would have to help me get in the bed at night and I didn't go along for walks very often.

The day finally came to go back and get another blood test for liver function. Dad din't sleep very much the night before and was hugging me a lot and giving me pets and rubs. We went to see Dr. Becky and had blood drawn for the test. The results were not good. Things had gotten much worse. It was not just a infection. I have total liver failure. Dr Becky and dad were very sad. Dr. Becky said I am now Hospice and only have "weeks" left before I start to suffer. Dad cried the whole way home. He said it was way too soon to have to say good bye.

Dad says from now on, he will be making me very special meals. It no longer matters how "healthy" it is. What matters is that I eat and like it.

Yesterday Dad adopted Belle 14-056. Dad thinks she can be a great resident dog for the fosters after I have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Since my time is limited, I would like to thank RAGOM for taking me in, Foster Mom Bobbi Jo and Foster Dad Bruce for fostering me and helping me to my forever home and All the RAGOM volunteers and donors. These last years of my life have been my best years. Thank you all so much.  Ziggy 11-264

Hi Ziggy watchers, Ziggy back again,

It's been a while since my last update, so there is lots to report.

My foster sister Ausia healed up, got spayed and got adopted. Dad said we are very fortunate to have such nice foster dogs stay with us.

Before Ausia left I got a new foster sister named Polly 13-431. She came from a breeder in Iowa. She was very scared like Shep was. She stayed in a corner in the living room except for when Dad went outside and at night. Ausia liked to play and managed to get Polly to play with her. After Ausia got adopted, Polly had to look to me for help with things that scared her. Most things scared her. Polly was thought to be pregnant when she came here but it wasn't definite. Fortunately for all, she wasn't pregnant. A batch of puppies may have been a bit much for me to oversee. Polly got spayed  and soon after that she got adopted. Dad says she hit the jackpot with her adopters.

Before Polly left my foster brother Leon 13-402 came back. He had been at another foster and was adopted but was returned a week later. I was very happy to see Leon. He is the only foster dog I have cuddled with before. We laid in the crate together.I think Leon helped me overcome my fear of crates.

The next dog to come along was Bailey 14-025. She was only 10 months old and very much a puppy yet. Dad had transported her when she came into ragom and was temp fostering her until a perm foster was available for her.

Thankfully a few days later Skylar arrived. She is about 3 years old. She liked to play and kept Bailey out of my and Leon's hair. Skylar came from a shelter in Kentucky. RAGOM saved her from death row. Me and Skylar had "words" within the first day but things were fine after that. A week later Bailey left so Skylar lost her playmate but seems fine. Skylar had a family interested in adopting her very quickly after her Available dogs update was posted. The family is coming from far away to meet her.

There, that sums up the foster brother and sister action going on here.  I've been doing well and walk most days with the other dogs. Some times I will just stop and wait for Dad and the pack to come back if I am feeling lazy.  I'm getting grain-free food again. Dad hopes I have less gas with it than the other food I was eating. I hope the weather starts warming up soon. Winter seems pretty long and cold this year. That's about all for now, thanks for checking on me, Ziggy

Hi Again Ziggy fans, Ziggy finally here again.

Dad says I've really been slacking on my updates. I say dad is always hogging the computer, so I can't do them.  Quite a bit has gone on in the 4 months since I last updated, so here goes.

As previously mentioned, Charlie is back living with us until he finds a new home. Charlie and I get along very well and share everything. Dad noticed that Charlie wasn't seeing some things, like the cats, so he took Charlie to a eye Doctor. Dad was pretty sad when they came home. Charlie has macular degeneration and will be totally blind in a few months. Dad said Charlie could stay with us forever if he can't find an adopter. Charlie is happy all the time and doesn't seem to mind that he is losing his vision.

Dad has been helping other RAGOM fosters by dog sitting for them when they go on vacation. Larry came to stay with us and was very scared. He was from a puppy mill like Shep was. One day dad took Shep to meet a possible adopter at her house. When he came home Larry bolted out the door and ran away. Things were pretty hectic for the next 12 days before Larry was caught and returned home with his foster.

Lily came to stay before Larry was caught. She also was from a breeder but was only a little scared at first. She got along great with everyone and got to come along to a party for Larry.

Next was Dakota. She also was a breeder dog in her former life. She was a bit grumpy the first couple days here and would growl and curl her lip at me and the other dogs and cats. She came around and learned to be part of the pack.

Things were pretty quiet here for a while and then Shep had visitors. They really liked him but needed time to think about adopting him since he has a little ways to go yet to be "normal". Dad sent them more info on "puppy mill" dogs to be sure they knew what they were getting into. They called back and wanted to adopt Shep!  They came a couple days later and adopted him. Dad was sad to see him go but very happy he has a very good family of his own now. Shep was here for 9 months and had gone from a totally terrified dog to a near normal crazy silly Lab.

Only a few days after that A family was interested in Charlie!  They had experience with blind dogs and sounded like a very good match for Charlie. Dad talked with them on the phone for quite a while and than set up when they would come and meet Charlie. A few days later they came and fell in love with Charlie and later adopted him. Again, dad was sad to see Charlie leave but very happy that he found a very good family to call his own. Dad has heard from Charlie's adopters and he is doing very well in his new home.

So then it was just me and the kitties left in the house. I worked Dad for all the attention I could get. I know there will be more dogs coming soon, so I need to make hay while the sun shines. It was almost too peaceful.

A few days later, Liberty arrived. She was pretty nervous the first day but settled in very well after that. She is a very nice dog and Dad said he could almost trade me for her. I'm glad he said "almost". It didn't take long after Liberty got her page on "Available Dogs" that she had adopters interested in her. A family came and met her and is coming back to adopt her tomorrow. Dad says her family might not know it yet, but, they hit the jackpot with her.

Liberty 13-309

Last Saturday Dad left and came home with Ausia. She was found as a stray with puppies in Red Lake MN. She had a bad cut on her leg and had tendon damage. She is a year and a half old and pretty skinny. Dad feeds her 3 times a day! It was thought that she may need more surgery and crate rest for 2 months after that. Dad was very happy when they came home from seeing Dr. Becky and found out no further surgery was needed. Dad said Ausia would have been a real handful to keep quiet for that long.

Ausia 13-339

I guess I should say something about myself since this is my "Happy Endings" update. I'm continuing to do well and just have my "normal" allergies and ear infections. I do like helping other dogs to a new life. I guess it's payback for RAGOM helping me to my new life. A real "Win-Win" for me. Thanks for checking up on me, Ziggy 11-264

Ziggy here again,

It's really been a long time since I did a update and I have lots of things to tell.

My Foster brother Sonny got very sick. Dad took him to Dr. Becky and got some pills for him to get him better. His Lyme test that he had previously was wrong and he does have Lyme disease. The medication seemed to really help but after a week he started to not do so good. Sonny was a temp foster dog here and had found a permanent foster. The day before he was supposed to move he started getting pretty sick. When his new foster mom came to pick him up he wasn't doing well at all. Sadly the next day Sonny crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was just too weak to fight the sickness any more. Dad was very sad to hear the bad news after having Sonny do so well for a while.

We had another RAGOM dog come to stay with us for a couple weeks while her foster parents went on vacation. Her name was Annabelle. She was very nice and fit in very well here. She was adopted the day after her foster parents got back from vacation.

Foster Brother Rocket was starting to show some symptoms of his kidney failure so Dad took him to see Dr. Becky. His blood work showed he was nearing the end and probably only had a few more weeks to live. Dad was very sad to hear this but knew it was coming. Rocket was losing his appetite and had lost a bit of weight. His energy was fading also. Our walks were getting shorter because he just couldn't go any further. He still loved to go though. Dad was making Rocket special meals to try to get him to eat. Even that wasn't working very well any more. A few days later Rocket crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I miss Rocket and so does Dad.

Foster brother Shep slowly is starting to act more like a regular dog. He walks with us now and will walk further than I want to. He can go more than 5 miles a day! When he came here he could barely walk at all. Shep has met the neighbors and their dogs and just loves it all. Dad took me Shep and my other foster sister Cheyenne to a meet and greet in Edina. A nice lady named Devon took very nice pictures of us. Shep loved meeting all the people and dogs.

As previously mentioned, Dad went and picked up another foster sister named Cheyenne. This is a different Cheyenne from the Chocolate Lab early in my story. Cheyenne was very nice and fit in perfect here. She came from the Tri-County Humane Society. Her family was moving and couldn't bring her with. Cheyenne was adopted pretty quickly and moved to Grand Maris Mn and lives on a lake.

The day after Cheyenne left Dad went and picked up previous foster brother Charlie. He was returned to RAGOM after a "incident" with the chickens on the farm he lived at. Charlie fit right back in here and has lost his separation anxiety.

Now something about me. I scratched my cornea in my left eye. Dad had to take me to see Dr. Becky every week to get the loose skin removed. I had to wear the blue soft cone for quite a while to keep from re-injuring it while it was healing. I was pretty glad to get the cone off although it was like having a built in pillow. Dad was very glad I didn't have to have the very expensive surgery to fix my eye. I was back to the vet to get up to date on my vaccines and a general check up. Everything is very good. With summer back, my allergies are back also. I get benadryl twice a day and get baths pretty regular to help my itchy skin. I get yeast infections on my belly also. I guess there is something good about cold weather.

Well, I think that about covers it. Thanks for checking in on me and Thanks to RAGOM for making my new life possible.

Ziggy 11-264

Hi Ziggy fans, Ziggy here again,

My FB Rusty was adopted a week or so after my last update. He went totally crazy when his new family came to meet him. It was like he knew they were the ones for him. From what dad says, Rusty became a different dog with his new family. He is a only dog and is very well behaved. His new family is very in love with him. They said he was the best Christmas present ever.

Dad made all of us a great Christmas dinner. We had beef stew with lots of veggies. Dad thought FB Rocket was going to eat the metal bowl. We got a few toys for Christmas and dad told all us dogs we were the best present he could ever have.

Shortly after Christmas FS Allie was adopted. Dad said she was very tough to let go of but was very sure she was going to a good loving home.

So poor FB Rocket was left with just me and the kitties. Within a few days FD brought home a new FB. His name is Shep. He came from a puppy mill in South Dakota. He was very scared of everything. He stayed in the crate all the time because he felt safe in there. He didn't like me or Rocket to get close to the crate. After a few days of dad having to drag him across the kitchen, he moved the crate in the living room so it was closer to the door to the fenced area. Shep is slowly starting to trust dad and us dogs more. Dad says Shep will be here longer than most of the other foster dogs because he has so much to overcome from the life he had at the puppy mill.

A few weeks later dad brought home another foster brother. His name is Sonny. He had led a very tough life . He was found dumped in a grocery store parking lot very close to starved to death. He spent a couple months at a shelter before he came to RAGOM. He was still in very tough shape when he got here. Dad has been pouring the food to him. Sonny gets more than twice the food I get and I weigh twice what he does. Dad says he has put on 8 lbs or more and could stand another 8 or more. Sonny has some teeth troubles and some kind of sinus issue going on but is looking much better than when he first came here.

That about catches things up for now. I keep hoping dad makes a turkey again soon. I could really go for a home made, dog healthy meal again.

Thanks for checking in on me

Hi Folks, Ziggy here again,

Lots to report since my last update, so lets get to it.

My new FB Rocket settled in pretty good. Dad went with him to get his test results from Dr Sarah. It was not good. Rockets kidneys are still failing. Rocket was declared Hospice care and will be spending the rest of his life with us. Dr Sarah said she would be surprised if he lives another 6 months. Dad has had a lot of tears about this when he thinks about it. Very sad to see a dog that is only a year older than me dieing.  Rocket is leading a normal life and doesn't show yet that there is anything wrong.

Now for the parade of all the foster dogs.

Duke  came here just before Goldzilla from South Dakota. Duke was mostly yellow Lab but was the color of a Golden. He was very well behaved and loved to play with Rocket. Dad enlarged the fenced in area so Duke and other fosters could run.

Dad made a trip to Iowa with Rufus that he picked up in Minneapolis. He came back with a very tall handsome boy named Rusty. Rusty is around only a year old and very much a puppy in a big body. He tries to play with me but I don't go for that type of thing. Rocket and Duke do go for that and would play for hours outside with Rusty. 3days after Rusty came here Duke was adopted.

Rocket did pretty well keeping Rusty busy playing until temp boy Jake came. Jake was close to Rusty's age and loved to play chase and wrestle. Rocket got a bit of a break for the 3 or 4 days that Jake was here.

Dad did another surrender and transport. Her name was Lucy. She was only 3 months old and had been hit by a car. Her owners couldn't afford to get her double broken leg fixed and contacted RAGOM hoping they could help sweet little Lucy. Dad drove to Foley to pick her up and took her to a foster in Inver Grove Heights . Lucy had surgery later that day and is doing very good so far. She even has adopters as soon as she is healed!

The next temp foster dog was Rocky.  There was a mix up on the description that dad saw before he went and picked him up. He wasn't the dog dad was expecting but took him anyhow. Rocky had apparently led a tough life prior to coming to RAGOM. He started fights for no reason with Rocket and Rusty and eventually with me. Dad was sad to have to return him to boarding but was concerned one of us would get hurt.

The next foster is Allie. She is a Black mix somewhat like Raven. Dad took her to MNSNAP to get spayed and then brought her up north to my Foster Mom. For some reason Allie didn't like my Foster Dad and would growl at him. Dad went back up anf brought her back here.  Dad really likes Allie. She sleeps in the bed with us and hops in dad's lap when he sits in his recliner. Dad says 70 lbs is a bit big for a lap dog.

I almost forgot about Itsey, the house cat's, new kittens. I was obsessed with them for over the first month. I guarded them from the other dogs and would even gently pick them up in my mouth and put them back where they were supposed to be.

We had a very good Thanksgiving. Dad made us Turkey, Squash and Veggies. YUM-YUM

That about does it for now. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Ziggy fans.

Hi folks, Ziggy here again,

There has been lots going on here since my last update. I hope I can remember most of it.

Dad did a surrender and transport of Xochi. She was very pretty. Dad said she was adopted quickly.

Dad also did a surrender and transport of 2 very handsome boys. Their names were Shadow and Lucky. Dad drove all the way to Watertown, South Dakota, to pick them up. They were surrendered because their mom couldn't find a rental house that allowed dogs. They were very well behaved for the 2 days they stayed here waiting for foster parents and transport. It was kind of crazy at times with 5 dogs here but not bad. Dad told me that Shadow was on TV the other day! Lucky has been adopted already.

A couple days after Shadow and Lucky left, Yukon's FM came and got him. He was only here as a temp until his FM could take him.

A few days later a family came to meet my FB Hemmy. They were very in love with him and came back and adopted him. I miss Hemmy. We laid together lots of times. Dad said that Hemmy has his own "Happy Endings " page now.

A week or so later a family came to meet FS Nala. Dad said they were in love with her. They came back and adopted her. Dad talked to one of the young girls the next day and said she was very much in love with Nala. He said Nala's new mom was in love also. Me and dad were very happy to see Hemmy and Nala find new loving families.

So now we are down to just me and the kitties. Dad got to give me lots of attention for over 3 weeks. I soaked up every bit of it while I could.

Friday Dad did another surrender and transport. This dog's name was Monty. He didn't look like a Golden or Lab. he was curly. Dad said he was a Golden Doodle. He was only here a short time before he was picked up.

Last weekend we took a ride to Alexandria and picked up Rocket 12-091 from his first fosters. He was a bit nervous for the first few days but is settling in pretty well now. He has some health problem and has gone to see Dr Sarah twice now. Dad takes him back again for some test results. I have my paws crossed hoping he is getting better.

Dad told me we are going to a huge event on the 22nd. He said it's called Goldzilla. He said lots of Goldens and lots of people that love Goldens will be there. I hope to meet some of my story followers there.

Dad also told me that we will have a anniversary party for me in October. That is when my dad adopted me from RAGOM.

Thanks for checking in on me,
Ziggy 11-264

Hello Ziggy followers, Ziggy here again.

It's been a while and a few foster brothers and sisters since last update.

My foster sister Raven turned into a great dog after she settled in here. She was nervous for over a week! Dad was a bit nervous about getting her spayed. He had lost a dog one time many years ago shortly after she was spayed. Dad made the decision to take Raven to MNsnap to get spayed. They treated her very good and called dad for 3 days checking up on her.

Raven had met her furever mom a few days before the surgery. She visited with dad and all us dogs for a long time. Dad said she is a very good adopter and Raven is very lucky to be going to her. Raven was adopted and went to her new home a couple weeks after she was spayed.

It was back to just me and Cheyenne for a couple days untill dad brought Murphy home with him. Murphy also was very nervous at first. He was a real velcro dog. He had to be right next to dad at all times. Murphy wasn't here a week when Cheyenne was adopted!!

Cheyenne had been here for over 4 months. She had lost over 50 lbs!!! She was very unhappy to leave. Dad brought us dogs with to drop her off in the cities. A few days later dad thought he was going to have to go get her and bring her back. She had shut down and wouldn't do anything, including eat, for over 3 days. The day dad was going to go and try to cheer her up or bring her home she came back to being herself. Very good news. A couple days later dad went and brought home Hemmy. He is a large [104 lbs] Black Lab. Dad took Hemmy to see Dr Sarah. He is in excellent health other than needing exercize. He came to the right place for that.

A few days later dad's parents came to visit for a few days. This was the first time I had met them so I turned on the charm and gave them the sad face to try to get more treats. The sad face didn't work. They told me that the previous Golden, Kinze, had done the same thing. Darn!!

A couple days later dad left and brought home yet another dog. Her name is Nala. She had just had spay surgery earlier that day and wasn't feeling good at all. She was only going to be here a couple days before dad transports her to her new foster home. The next day Nala was really crazy with whining and barking and pacing all day.

The next morning dad got us all up early and loaded all of us dogs up for a long ride to Nala's new foster home. Once we got there Nala went crazy again. Dad hoped she would settle down after we left.

The next morning we were all up early again and back on the road to go pick Nala up. She was still going crazy. She had kept her new FM and FD awake all night long and just wasn't happy at all. She whined most of the way home but did settle down when we got home.

A couple days later, some people came to meet Murphy. They liked him very much and would come back in a few days to adopt him.

The same day Murphy was adopted, dad took Hemmy to MNsnap to get neutered. Hemmy wasn't cranky like Nala was after surgery. He's very mellow most of the time.

I have a new job now. Itsey the house cat had kittens. Only one survived. I keep watch on the kitten most of the day and check on her several times at night. I love baby kittens.

That's about all for now. Thanks for checking in on me.

Hi Ziggy fans, Ziggy here again,

Dad told me I was slacking in my updates. Lots of things happening since the last one.

Shortly after Shelby Lynn left with her new family a nice transport man named Craig brought us our next foster dog. His new name was Gillmore. He was a stray that had been brought to a shelter by animal control. He was on death row when the great people at the shelter called RAGOM. Gillmore had surgery the day before he got here to remove 3 big cysts and to neuter him. He wasn't feeling the best when he got here after the 6 hour ride.He had over 30 staples in him to hold his skin together from the surgery. After a couple days he was feeling great and turned out to be a very nice gentleman. He was here for 3 weeks before a very nice woman adopted him. I hated to see him leave but knew he was headed to a good home to start his new life. He got a new name also. He is now Beau.

A couple days after Gillmore left, dad left and came back with another foster dog. His name was Charlie. He came from a shelter also.Dad stopped at Dr Sarah's office on the way home with him because he was supposed to have kennel cough which was what got me so sick right after Thanksgiving. Dr. Sarah said she didn't think he was sick but for my and Cheyenne's safety she got him on anti-biotics.

I had to let Charlie know that I really hated it if he tried to eat my food while I was eating it. I didn't have to tell him a second time. Charlie had some separation anxiety so he had to be in the crate when dad was out of the house. Charlie liked being in the crate.

Dad did a surrender and transport of a dog named Sam. He had to stay here overnight. He got along with us dogs just fine but really hated house kitty and tried to hurt her. Kitty was ok but pretty scared for a couple days.

Charlie was only here for less than 3 weeks before a very nice couple from Wisconsin came and adopted him. Dad says he is doing very well at his new home as are all the other foster dogs that have been here.

This week dad left and came home with another foster dog. Her name is Raven 12-161. She came from a bad situation  but seems to be pretty nice also. She wants to chase house kitty and the outside kitties if they run. Dad is working with her to get used to cats. She lived with no other dogs or cats so she needs to learn a few things.

That pretty much brings things up to date. Maybe dad will give me a treat for doing this?

I need to get after dad to get more pictures of ME. Seems most of the pics are of my foster brothers and sisters now.

Thanks for checking in on me,

Ziggy

Hi folks, Ziggy here again,

Since last update I went to foster training with my dad, so I am foster trained also now!!!! I think I stole everyone's heart at the training. I worked the table. Everyone had to take turns petting and rubbing me. I didn't even pay much attention to the instructors 2 dogs that were there. I had a good time and learned a lot about fostering. Lots of good people going to help dogs to a new life. My dad was very proud of me, as usual.

About a week and a half later we got my first RAGOM foster sister. Her name is Shelby Lynn 12-063. [Cheyenne is a foster sister also]. Shelby Lynn is a very well behaved dog. I had to give up some of my personal time with dad so that she could have some personal time with him also. We got along very well and I shared everything with her. Shelby Lynn was only here for 10 days before she was adopted by a very nice family. I tried to stow-away in their car but dad caught me. He said I need to stay here to help with more foster dogs. So much for a vacation. I'll have to settle for the Happy Endings update.

Kind of quiet around here now with just me and Cheyenne, but dad says there will be another foster brother or sister here soon. We still go on the 3-4 mile walks to keep me in shape and to keep Cheyenne losing weight. She has lost over 30 lbs so far!!!!! I sleep most of the day after the walk.

That's about all for now. Thanks for checking in on me. More pics as usual.

Ziggy here again,

My dad has been slacking a bit on the updates , so I thought I should do it again.

We went to "Hot Diggity Dog" as promised. WOW! was there a big bunch of gorgeous dogs and good people [with treats]. I fit right in with all the very well behaved dogs. We got there slightly late so we didn't get to meet as many dogs and people as I would have liked to, but it was a good time.

My dad did a couple more transports and another surrender. He was sad that the people had to give up the dog but very happy to be able to help with starting a new life for the dogs. Dad is looking for a bigger car so that I can go along on most of the transports if it is cool.

I now have a new roommate! Her name is Cheyenne. She is a Chocolate Lab that is 10 years old and needed to lose 30-40lbs. Me, Cheyenne, Dad and house kitty go for walks every morning. Me and Cheyenne are now going 3 1/2 miles. House kitty only goes 1/2 mile or so and then waits for us. I go without a leash now because I am so good about sticking with and coming when called.

My Dad tells me I am very close to my ideal weight now. It's easier getting around without the excess weight I was carrying. I have very good muscle tone now from all the walks.

My dad and I go to RAGOM Foster training on Sunday. I will be having Golden roommates soon. I like most other dogs and usually don't mind sharing everything. I like to show other dogs the ropes ,so this should be right up my alley. Of course, more Pics.

Hi folks, Ziggy here.

My dad has been busy with lots of things and hasn't updated my happy endings, so I'm doing it this time. I think I am in heaven! I love this place and being loved and fussed over all the time.

I've met most of the neighbor dogs but don't really care for the in-your-face puppy and the 2 butt sniffer spaniels. I look for the rest of them and even bark if I don't see them on walks.

I keep opening up more to dad and am showing much more affection. I'm just starting to wag my tail some. I had forgot how to do that!

I had a very very handsome visitor over Thanksgiving. My dad got to temp and transport Abe to my fm Bobbi Jo. I got to ride along to see fm but got very sick on the way there, while we were there and all the way home. Dad stopped at Dr Sarah's office on the way home and made a appointment for the next day in case I didn't get better. I thought I was going to die I was so sick. Dad took me to Dr Sarah the next day and I got a couple shots and a bunch of pills. I went for 4 days without eating and almost 3 days without drinking water. My dad was very scared that I may not make it, but I did pull through and started eating when he gave me some of his home made chicken-wild rice soup. A couple days after that I was back to normal. Wheew, that was close. My dad cuddled me for hours at a time and kept a very close eye on me.

Kind of boring here until last weekend when dad did a surrender and brought another gorgeous but troubled boy Luke here. Another transporter Bob picked him up a short time later. I liked Luke but he was scared and had some phobias. I tried to show him the ropes but he was too scared. My dad says he is doing better now.

Dad did another transport [Dixie] to fm on Sunday but left me home this time.

My dad tells me I need to be extra nice to all dogs because in a couple months he will be fostering dogs and I have to help.

Dad also told me we get to go to the big RAGOM event "Hot Diggity Dog" on the 7th of January. I can't wait to meet all the great people that helped me find my new home and help other dogs. I hear there will be dog treats.

I'll see if I can find some pics of me on here.

Till next time,   Ziggy

Hi again,

Nothing but good things to report on this Update.

Ziggy has become my personal trainer now. We have walked as much as 7 miles in 2 trips one day. All time single trip is over 6 miles. That about killed both of us. We were both sore the next day. We have leveled off to 4 1/2-5 miles per day now. We are both getting in shape.

10/11/11 Ziggy is all weaned off of the steroid prednizone and benadryl. Her ear infections are healed up. So off to the vet clinic to see Dr Sarah. On the way from the truck to the door of the clinic, Ziggy is met by a Husky that got off its leash and charged at her. She remained calm and ignored the husky. I helped corral the loose dog into the entryway where the owner got the collar back on. Ziggy got a blood sample drawn without even a twitch. The test came back as perfectly normal. No thyroid problem at all. The steroid, benadryl and ear infection had thrown the previous test off. Dr. Sarah is a smart cookie for knowing that could happen and not just throwing Ziggy on thyroid medication. This was very good news.

Also, Ziggy has lost 10 lbs since FM had her weighed 3 weeks previous. The walking, Chicken soup brand dog food and being off the prednizone all has contributed. Dr. Sarah says another 3-5 lbs loss should put her at perfect weight. Another benefit of being off the prednizone is that Ziggy's eyes aren't droopy any more. I got a bottle of ear wash and lessons on how to clean ears. All and all a great visit to the vet clinic.

Ziggy and the house kitty are best friends now. They sleep together on the dog beds. Ziggy gets along great with all the outside cats, including the ones that won't let me pet them. She is still pretty obsessed with the 2 baby kittens as they are with her.

I have applied to RAGOM to volunteer for home visits and eventually foster. Much learning to do. So if you have applied to adopt, you may get to meet Ziggy and me. We might try to participate at a event or 2 also. I can't help but want to show off this great companion.

Of course, more pics and more updates to come.

9/17/11 - I picked up Ziggy a week ago now from FM Bobbi Jo and FD [sorry, I don't remember names real well] in far northern MN...She seemed nice but not very energetic or affectionate. The previous owners didn't want her or love her. She was on a steroid and benadryl for a supposed allergy. She had very sad droopy eyes. I had been in contact with FM for the previous week so I was aware of all things known about this very sweet good dog.

I had a previous Golden for 11 years until the very sad day last October when tumors got the best of her. I immediately fell in love with Ziggy at first sight. I had a very nice long visit with FM & FD. Ziggy was very lucky to get to spend time with these loving caring people.

The long [3 1/2 hr] drive home went great. Ziggy loves to ride in cars or trucks. She would wake up and look around when we would go through towns. She slept the rest of the time.

When we got home Ziggy and resident house cat had a confrontation. No one was hurt. House kitty had been Queen of the castle for almost a year and is less than a year and a half old. I also have outside cats. They were cautious about Ziggy but not real scared.

Ziggy checked out every square inch of the house. I really do believe she knew this was going to be her new home for life. That night we went for a 1 mile walk. Ziggy tugs the lead some, but really did very well. The first night Ziggy was very uneasy. She moved around a lot.

9/18/11 - Ziggy drinks tons of water, so very first thing is to go outside. Back in to have some breakfast and a banana with pills [Yes, Ziggy loves bananas, carrots and apples]. Later, Ziggy and house kitty had another spat. Again, no one was hurt. Ziggy did get scolded this time. She hasn't shown any aggression to the queen of the castle since. The outside cats are getting more used to Ziggy. No big tails or arched backs. Ziggy took me for a mile and a half walk that evening.

Ziggy slept much better the second night. Only moved a couple times.

9/19/11 - Monday morning. I'm met when the alarm goes off by a snout on the bed next to me. Ziggy came to say "Good Morning". I rubbed her snout and chin for her. She really likes that...

Outside for business and back in for breakfast then off to work. House kitty goes outside while I'm gone. Not really sure they are OK with each other at this point.

When I got home from work Ziggy was happy to see me. She is starting to warm up to me. I let house kitty in and she looks for Ziggy to see what's up!!! House kitty keeps her distance {a foot] but really does want to be friends. Later that evening Ziggy takes me for another mile and a half walk. These walks are really good for both of us. We both could stand to lose 20 or more lbs.

In the next few days Ziggy really starts to settle in. She and house kitty can be left alone in the house together. Ziggy starts upping the distance of the walks. Ziggy goes outside without the leash now. She is quickly becoming friends with all the outside kittys and absolutely loves the 2 baby kittens. Ziggy is extra careful around the babies to not hurt them.

Now in a weeks time she has become the absolutely perfect dog for me. It's like she has been here for years. The walks are up to 3 miles now!!!! LOL I think she is trying to kill me. We should both be getting rid of the extra pounds soon at this rate.

I have to give a HUGE Thank You to all the great people involved with RAGOM. These people work their butts off to help these unfortunate dogs have a much better life. I hope to join with them in the near future.

Thank you all again including all the sponsors, supporters, and vets involved.

More updates to come and here's a few pics of Ziggy in her new home.

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Hi All, ziggy here! Well I have been at my new home for a week now and doing great! I am totally housetrained, have free roam of house while home alone and I am coming out of my shy shell!
I am finding out what a great thing it is to be loved and I really like it! I went to the vet today and had a lot of things done to me, but got a treat when it was all over so that made everything better!

I am taking meds now for allergies but the vet thinks it just my ears giving me heck and I have a thyroid problem so that is why I am getting so fat and have no energy, so hopefully I can start taking pills for that and start feeling a whole lot better!!

I am a very good listener, I come when told, sit, lay down, stay you name it I do it if I'm asked!! Foster mom is very impressed by this. We go to the mail box and I sit at the end of the road and wait for her to cross the road and come back to me! I do not need a fence, I am getting better at walking on the leash.

So all is good here. Oh and I have a visitor coming soon, so maybe I will find my furever home, I will keep you posted!!
