Hear Ye!! Hear Ye!!  Announcing the arrival of Sunny!

She is gorgeous!

Sunny has arrived here at our home for foster safely from northern Iowa.  She is a purebred 6 year old (April of 2004) female who is already spayed, chipped and up to date on all shots.  She rides great in the car and I already got her to the vet today.  She weighed in at a very fit and healthy 61#.

Sunny was surrendered thru no fault of her own from a loving family.  The toddler of the house was allergic to Sunny.  They were very sad to see her go, but felt it best to find her a new home where she could be around the family more often.  I give them my word that we will find the very best family for her...

We got her into the vet right after getting her so we could do her wellness check and test her for the usual things.  She was negative for Lymes and HW.  She is on some antibiotics right now for a suspected bladder infection.  She has a few more days on those meds.  Other than that, the vet says she is a very healthy girl.

Sunny has been here for about 3 hours so we're definitely getting to know her still.  She met our resident golden Lucy very well, but there was some minor growling after a while and then the usual scuffle to determine who will be the alpha.  I think they're past that now...I'm sure Sunny is still nervous from all the travel and change of scenery.  A couple days here and she'll be all settled in.

Sunny is a very happy go lucky girl that would fit in just about anywhere I think.  We have a 16 month old toddler and Sunny is not phased by him...

We ran some errands for about an hour and I kenneled her while gone.  She did fine.

She is housetrained and had free roam of the home before coming to RAGOM.  She was baby gated in a separate room when the family was gone from home.  She loves her humans and LOVES to play fetch.  She even drops the ball for you (unlike our Lucy)...

Sunny needs to be in foster for at least 5 days, but I have a feeling we will find her a good home soon.  She is just a doll.

If you're an approved adopter and you'd like to meet Sunny, let your placement advisor know.

Thank you for reading up on her.

With great sadness I write to let the RAGOM family know that Sunny (10-294) went peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, December 28th. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room when this precious little girl went to doggy heaven, and tears are still flowing to this day. The neighborhood will be a little quieter with her gone. All the neighbors, adults and kids would come into the yard and say hi to her as they passed by, her tail would wag with such excitement!! She was truly a gift to our family (we don’t have children, so she was our child). Rest in peace Sunny aka Pretty One…you were the best!!

Sunny has been with us since Saturday morning.  She is a very sweet girl and we are learning more about her.

She is very much a people person.  She loves to be around us and has bonded quite a bit with me.  The first night she slept in her kennel on the main floor and she wimpered and whined for about 20 minutes.  The second night we let her sleep in our room and she laid by me on the floor all night.  She's stayed there each night since...

We've learned that she is very interested in our cat.  I'm not sure if it's an aggressive nature, but we feel she'd be best in a home without cats and perhaps small dogs.

She has no anxieties or guarding issues and has been great with our toddler son.  When we leave the house for errands or work, she goes in her kennel.  She will wimper as we leave, but I'm sure it is for a few minutes and then she settles in for a nap.  Soon we will let her have free roam when we go.  She is completely house trained.  However, I do come home from work at lunch to let her and Lucy out for a break.  This would be nice to see in her forever home.

She and our Lucy are a bit stand offish with each other, but each day it gets much better.  I think it is mostly due to Sunny being in an unfamiliar environment and being a bit nervous in her new surroundings.  She has settled down quite and bit and is able to relax when we sit down for some TV.

She very much wants to be petted and in the same room as you.  She is very loving and very loyal.   Her recall seems to be pretty good.

Sometimes when you go to pet her, she will squint her eyes and cower a bit.  I'm not sure if it's a trust issue at this point or something from her past.  Regardless, she warms up immediately when you first start to pet her.

Sunny is a total doll.  She gets so excited to see us get home or wake up in the morning.

Now the really good news.... She has a family coming to meet her on Friday night.  Hopefully it will be a good match.  Wish her the best.  She deserves it.

Thank you for reading up on her.

Sunny, Lucy and I pray every night for Mozart's safe return.  We love you Mozart....!!
