Miss Sadie arrived at her foster home one week ago, She met all of our dogs and cats with grace. She has not been eating very well since we got her and the other night we had a storm and that caused Sadie more anxiety. She threw up several times after the storm. We knew that she had storm anxiety and needed access to a bathtub to hide in. We made sure that she could get to the tub, but I think that the combination of new home and storm really upset her. She has been reluctant to let me out of her sight. I took her to the vet yesterday for her wellness checkup. Sadie is in good health and up to date on her shots. She has a large lump on her back about six inches from her tail. We had it checked out and it is not a fatty tumor, but a hematoma caused by an old injury. My vet lanced it so it would drain and she said that it should go down within a couple of weeks.
Sadie is a very sweet girl. She is the largest female Golden I have ever seen. Sadie weighs 99 pounds, but she is not a bit fat. She is a very loving girl and she know commands of sit, shake and down. She is not destructive and could be trusted with the run of the house. We have seen her play a little bit with her blanket and she will play catch, but we are not seeing her true personality yet. Hopefully, by this time next week she will be more settled in and she will show us more of who she is.
