Kodi 09-496

Profile

Kodi is a seven-month-old purebred golden. He is medium blond, with the most beautiful face and coal black nose. He arrived at my house on Saturday mid-morning. I called the vet to schedule an appointment and they had an opening later in the day, so we have been to the vet. He is now up-to-date on his shots (he only needed one vaccine) and he is now microchipped. He weighs 54 pounds. He will be neutered on Tuesday.

He has a perfect golden temperament. He is still puppy-ish in many ways (because he's still a puppy). He greeted my two goldens with great enthusiasm and immediately backed down when my older one decided the enthusiasm was too much. He is crate trained and slept in his crate last night. He is housetrained and has lived with tiny dogs and a couple of cats in his previous home. He rides perfectly in the back of my SUV.

Kodi is in good health. He, however, has hip dysplasia. He has been checked out by Ragom's orthopedic expert and there is no surgery to fix him. She says he will never be a jogging partner, but he can be a loving pet and he can have a good life.

If you are interested in meeting Kodi, contact your placement advisor, he will be ready to meet families by next weekend.

Mr. Codi came to our house in the Spring of 2010 - he has settled in so nicely!

Despite his hip dysplasia, he is an ACTIVE boy.  He LOVES to go on walks and a big highlight is the morning walk to the school bus stop.  Now with the snow, Codi loves to play, play, play in it - includes rolling, digging, burrowing, etc.

He loves one of our cats (Martin) and they cuddle up together when they aren't wrestling :)  The other cat is just OK - they ignore each other.

Codi is quite attached to our daughter Madeline - he lies by her bedroom door, waiting for her to get up in the morning and then he likes to sit with her on the couch.

We are working (still) on the concept of "come" which is much more fun when it becomes a game of chase.  The chewing has slowed down a bit, but watch out for your socks and stuffed animals.  Oh yeah, there was the incident with the American Girl doll too.....

All in all, we expect Codi to mellow even more with age - like a fine wine.  He is a good dog and we are glad he is ours - he even stars in the Christmas card this year (see attached).

Thanks for all you do for "pre-owned"' Goldens!
