Please welcome Buddy Bear into the Ragom family. He’s a 6 ½ year old PB Golden. He made the long trip from South Dakota and loved every minute of it. He LOVES to go for car rides. Thanks to Ellie who got him to Eagan safe and sound.

Buddy had his vet appointment yesterday and weighs 73 pounds. This seems to be a nice weight for him. He is a good eater and takes his time to chew his food.

Buddy was heartworm negative and has been brought UTD on all his shots. He’s a picture of health. On the way to the vet he sat in the back seat so dignified but instead of looking forward, he turned around and looked out the back window. I so wish I would have had a camera (and not been driving J). I looked in my rear view mirror and the car behind me thought it was quite humorous. He had a big smile on his face as Buddy continued to watch him as we were stopped at a stop light.

He walks very well on a leash and loves to roll in the snow. He likes to play with toys and he seems to be a great fetcher.

His only annoying habit is he barks when he is excited. He shows his teeth but it is totally just an excited smile as this boy does not have an aggressive bone in his body. We are working on the barking. My resident dog chimes in which does not help matters.

How do you spell KEEPER? BUDDY BEAR….. He’s not going to last long.

I am happy to report that our Budster continues to make progress in the right direction. This week was a very busy (normal) week for our family and I just went about my business in and out, in and out. I have left him with free roam for over an hour with no problems. He was also crated two long evenings this week for kids hockey games and did fine. He goes in and out of the crate for feeding, treats and bones (for longer periods) with no problem. He has become much more comfortable around the house and will snooze in a different room than I am in or stay out in the hallway from the office.

Our vet loved him and had to take pictures to show his wife because he looks just like their golden girl. His training assessment went well at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge. They encouraged me to practice with him for a couple of weeks and take the Canine Good Citizen test as the first step to Therapy Dog training. He is just such a sweet boy.

I do have one funny story to share with you that makes us all laugh ... when we leave Buddy home by himself if the kids do not shut the door to their room he usually goes in and steals a stuffed animal to carry around and meet us at the door with. He doesn't destroy it, just carries it around. The only animal he ever picks up is a dog! Abby has put it back in her room several times and he still finds it. She is now remembering to close her door and Buddy has gone into Jake's room and found another dog to carry around Laughing.

I wanted to let you know how Buddy is doing. We are making progress on both the crate training and leaving him at home. All week long I worked on leaving him alone in the house several times during the day, varying the time from 2 minutes up to 30 minutes. We will continue to try to expand the time this week to almost an hour. When we have to be gone for a longer period of time we have put him in the kennel with a big bone. He still doesn't like it very much but is going in and out more and sitting in there for short periods of time when we are home without crying. When we are home he is good as gold. I take him in to our vet on Monday and have made an appointment to take him to Stone Mountain Pet lodge for obedience assessment so we get started in the right level class.

He and I head out to the lake everyday to hike, fetch and explore. He is so happy running, sniffing and rolling. His recall is good and I really enjoy watching him. I have attached a photo of him and his sledding friends from New Years. I will update you again next week with hopefully even more progress on his training.

Happy Holidays everyone… Buddy here.

I had such a wonderful holiday weekend. Lots of present opening and guess what? We were invited out for Christmas brunch and Christmas dinner. Who went along?? Yes, it was me! I was the perfect gentleman and FM AND FD received so many compliments on my behavior. How could anyone have given me up???? You might be wondering if Clohe went along as well. That’s a NO! Only dogs on their best behavior. We know that’s not a certain little Diva. She had her new 16 squeaker hedgehog and her favorite chair to lie in so I don’t think she felt too bad. I, on the other hand, felt like a KING! New people and a car ride? YES!

And the biggest gift of all? Shh….. I met a family that just might want me to become one of them. I would have a work from home Mom, a cool Dad and 3 human siblings that want to play, play, play. My paws are crossed. Please, pretty please. Santa, I have been so good! I hope I can become a member of the H family.

Stay tuned.

Buddy

Do I know how to attract the girls or what???

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MANY MORE TO COME FOR ME! Buddy here again… With the best news ever. I have a new family. Santa was so very good to me and brought me just what I want. A family that loves me for me. I have a cabin to go to which of course means many car rides. A work from home Mom, a hockey coaching Dad (Did I mention that I love the cold and wouldn’t mind playing fetch in a hockey rink?) and 3 human siblings that are involved in a lot of outdoor sports. Which can only mean I will be frequenting many a ball field and quite possibly be a mascot. Goldie, move over. Here comes Buddy!

Many thanks to everyone involved in finding me the perfect home. I’m sure my new Mom will let me use the computer and I will keep you updated. As always stay tuned. Now you will find me under the HAPPY ENDINGS!

Love,
Buddy

You probably think they adopted Clohe too?
WRONG!!
You know what a camera hog she is and butted in on my biggest and best moment ever.
That’s ok I guess.
She shared her home, her Mom and Dad, and her toys.

Merry Merry everyone...

I have been sooo incredibly busy. Must be the season.

First and foremost I want to thank Shayna M for her well wishes. I feel truly blessed that everyone is so kind and thoughtful. A big smile to you J (And you know I can smile) and a couple kisses too! You are so very very sweet.

On Saturday I went to the Ragom event in Byron with Amy. She was gracious enough to take Mya (09-345) and I. I love my car rides but Mya gets a little anxious. I hope I was soothing to her but I have to say she takes up A LOT of room for being such a small girl. I don’t mind sharing but seriously she had three-quarters of the back seat. I was gracious and let her have it. Tis the season and I hope Santa was watching. I have my sock ready to fill and I wish that Santa would forget about that incident with those treats. J I met some really nice people there. Thank you so much for coming to meet me. Amy says I sparked a little interest. After the event we went to Dale and Janet’s for a Christmas Dog Party. It was quite fun with goldens everywhere. Many thanks for the invite and I am still recuperating today from all the fun.

Time to sign off. Need to have my bedtime snack and get to bed. If you are interested in meeting me and making me smile, please let your placement advisor know. You know I can smile!

Goodnight
Buddy Bear

Getting some loving from my human foster sister.
Of course Clohe too!

Enjoying the snow,
but I really do not like that camera.

Geez….FM never gives up.  CHEESE!

Happy Holidays everyone, Buddy Bear here.

It has been such an eventful week in foster care. I had a bath and boy do I look and smell good. FM tells me what a handsome boy I am. Thank you Connie for partaking in the event.

Many thanks to Susan the GS who rescued me. She sent along a Christmas sock for me with some goodies in it. For now the goodies have been removed and FM said that she was going to replace it with a lump of coal. What the heck? It seems FM had done most of her shopping for all the furbutts in her family. She had all the stuff in bags and placed it in her office. Instead of closing the door to keep out any intruders J she put a gate in front of it. Well, guess what? I jumped the gate and checked it out. I only ate the bag of treats named “Buddie’s Best.” Not many know I can read. I have to confess that I did open a few others but only sampled them. I even opened the guinea pig treat. You never know. It might have been tasty. When I was all done, I jumped back over the gate like I had never been in there. Darn... I should have picked up after myself. I don’t even countersurf. Not sure what got into me. Can you imagine what Clohe was thinking when she was standing on the wrong side of the gate? J Sorry, Clo.

FM was angry but than blamed herself for tempting me. Whew…. That was a close one. Tonight we got to go to Chuck and Don’s and replenish a few things. I even got a new squeaky tennis ball. It no longer squeaks but boy do I love it.

Time to sign off. I need to get to bed. Amy’s taking me to Leashes & Leads in Byron (near Rochester) on Saturday for the Ragom event. I heard that I am sharing the back seat with Ragom girl Mya. She’s a sweetie. Hope to see you there.
