Stella 09-471

Profile

November 22, 2009:

Stella is an approximately 15 week old Golden Retriever/Collie mix. She is 15 pounds and adorable. Stella wandered onto someone's property and then they called RAGOM to find a forever home for this little cutie. We are so happy they called RAGOM because her foster home thinks she is adorable, sweet and wonderful. It appears she will not get too big as she is really petite with fine features. She is 99% house trained and she sits when she you are preparing her food and drink.

Our family has had 34 fosters and have fallen in love with all of them, but the minute I laid eyes on Stella, I knew she would become part of our family. Stella loves her sister Penny Rose and she adores me, her foster mom. Stella is pending adoption with us and when she is all UTD, we will make it official!

Thank you RAGOM for taking this girl in. She is home!

Stella Grace is a loving, smart and wonderful pupper.  Stella loves to help with chores and is the official mail carrier for our daily deliveries!  Stella is incredibly smart and such a fast learner.  She understands us when we ask her to get one of her stuffed animal friends and will bring them to us when asked - we even ask her to retrieve a specific stuffie and she gets it right 99% of the time.  Stelly's furr sister Penny Rose passed away at 12 years old last October which was so sad for everyone - we miss her every day but still have her favorite chair in our bedroom and Stelly and I cuddle in Penny's chair often.  We added a 6 year old, 140 lb St. Bernard Lab to the family in January.  Tonka had a rough life and we know he is pretty happy here!  The two puppers get along wonderfully, but Stell is still the boss over him.  He's okay with that!

Stelly's favorite thing to do is walk, walk and walk!  She also loves to fetch her tennis balls and cuddle with her Mom  :  )  We love our Stelly Belly and couldn't imagine our life without her!

Stella Grace was adopted by her foster Mom (me) 2 years ago and is thriving in her forever home. Stella came to me an insecure puppy as she had been roaming the street initially as a baby. She was taken in by a man and from all accounts, it appears he did not treat her very well. When Kelly, our RAGOM volunteer went to pick her up, she was full of fleas and it was clear that she was mistreated. Needless to say, she had many issues most of which have gone away or decreased. I have a special bond with Stella. She looks to me constantly for direction. Because of this, she has become increasingly more secure. I know her "stress" cues and we adjust the situation so she is comfortable. She loves her Golden sister Penny Rose although she "thinks" she is the boss, although Penny is the queen of the castle. We just let Stella think she is in charge of her big sister!

Stella is so loved by me and my family. She is such an adorable girl and people comment all of the time on how cute she is. Stella loves, loves, loves to play, walk, chase the ball, the dog park and chasing those pesky squirrels. She creeps up on a squirrel ever so quietly and once she is in a good chasing range, she bursts forward chasing them up a tree and then she leaps off of her back feet 6 feet in the air! She has an amazing vertical! I would never let her catch one, but she thinks she is so smart chasing them off of the ground and into the tree! Even with her bossy attitude, she is the best snuggle bug ever. She will throw her head into me and cuddle in. She loves her Mom but she is especially fond of my oldest son, John. John left for officer training for the Marines and Stella misses him so much. They have a very special bond - Stella will be happy to see him over the holidays.

Stelly Belly is a smart, spunky, loving little silly girl.  She has fit into my home like a glove.  She loves her big furr sister Penny Rose and had wiggled her way into our hearts.  Stella is learning patience and that is apparent because when she sensed we were going to go for our daily walk, she used to acted like a jumping bean jumping up and down like she had springs on her paws.  She now lays down, but she does "talk" to me with her silly, little, growly, whiney voice.  On our walk, I still have to keep her close to me when a bike goes by or she will chase it down.  We actually have times where I will say "be good Stelly" and although you can see her wanting so bad to run after it, she contains herself and just walks straight ahead.

Stella is my home security system as well.  When we go to bed, she crawls up to my pillow and looks out  the window scaring all of the goblins away.  She loves a good squirrel chase and the there is one local squirrel that teases her every day sitting on the fence.  Mr. Squirrel sits on there and when I open the door, it runs to the other side of the fence and looks at Stella and says Na Na Na Na Na Na - you can't catch me!!!  Well, it really does not say that, but you know that darn squirrel is thinking just that!

Stella absolutely hates water!  So giving her a bath is not fun at all.  She shakes and submissive pees - it is so sad and I feel so bad.  I don't think she will ever get over bath time, because she hates water so much.

Enjoy the pictures of Miss Stella and her clone that we call "Stella Grace Number Two Stuffed Version".  I think the pictures are hysterical.  Stella Grace Number Two Stuffed Version is currently in the hospital needing eye replacement surgery.  Stella Grace ate her eye and spit it out, so when the surgeons have time she will be mended and will be able to join in play time again.

Stella says hi to her rescuers - Kelly and Diane...Love you guys...paw hugs :  )

I thought it time to send a Happy Endings update!  My name is Stella Grace and I know it well!  All of the furr kids in this house have a middle name, I think it is kinda silly, but so is my forever Mom.  I live with my furr sister, Penny Rose of whom I ADORE!  We actually look alike because you see she is a sweet old lady and has a gray face.  I, on the other hand, am a youngster, BUT I have some white on my face, so we really do look like sisters.  I also live with our foster dog Cadence 08.433.  Mom says she has been with us for almost 2 years!  You see, she has some health problems, she has seizures.  The first time I saw her have a seizure I was pretty darn scared, but Mom says that it is just part of who Cady is and we have to accept it.  I love my Cady girl.  At first I picked on her and once in awhile I guard my food and toys from her, but that is even getting better.

Mom and I are almost finished with Level One of obedience.  It is challenging for me because I have a tendency to want to be the BOSS of everyone!  Mom says that is not a good thing, but I am trying so hard to let go.  It must be the Sheltie in my blood!  I also think that my Mom is a sheep and I tend to herd her.  I am not sure why I think she is a sheep, she does not have any wool, but it is just part of who I am I guess.  I am so smart and catch on quickly, so obedience class has been good, I just need to work on focusing.  Mom says we will continue with Level Two obedience and then onto Agility.  Don't know what that is and frankly cannot even spell it, but Mom says that it will be a great thing for me.  As you can see on one of my pictures, I can jump on top of the desk in one leap!

We walk every day, go to the dog park a couple times a week and have a really fun time together.  Mom says that I am just the best puppy in my crate at night.  Not a peep out of me until she lets me out for the day.  I stay in the office with Cady during the day and am a good girl.  Well, once in awhile I have to eat homework or the bills, but other than that I am
good :  )

I wanted to send a special Thank You to Kelli for rescuing me out of a horrible situation that I was in.  You see, I was wandering around as a puppy - can you believe that?  I was a puppy and had to find a place that would feed me.  So I wandered onto a farm and it was not a good place for me.  I was not treated well and had fleas, icky.  So Kelli picked me up and brought me to her Mom's house because Kelli's Mom was my foster Mommy!  I am grateful to her for taking such good care of me!  As a matter of fact, Kelli and her Mom are coming to visit in a few weeks!  Yay!  Mom says I have to be a good girl and behave myself when they come. Mom can be a party pooper sometimes!  I told Mom I will be good :  )

I hope you enjoy the pictures of me!

Well, as they say, "the check is in the mail!" Stella is officially Stella Grace resident puppy!

Stella thinks she owns the house, so we will be adding her to the title LOL! She is the protector of ALL and the best snuggler for sure. She loves her sister Penny Rose and even likes to hang out with Cadence 08.433. Cady just tolerates her, but once in awhile, they will sneak in a little wrestling time.

Stella's start in life was not good and she still shows some signs of that, but we are working on her shyness and her fears. We are starting obedience school on February 7th, and I am sure she will be a star - she is very smart!

Thank you Kelly for picking up our special little girl and for RAGOM for making her a part of my family. We are forever grateful and will give her a GReat life.
