Bailey has arrived at his foster home in Cedar Rapids, IA after a long trip from Stillwater, MN.  He is a beautiful, dark reddish PB golden at about the 80 pound size.  He has a large, blocky head.  Foster dad spent quite a long time with him brushing him and removing a few ticks.. He has now received his Frontline so should be fine in that area.  He has already been for two walks and is doing well with the gentle leader.  He is fully housebroken.

 

Bailey came from a home where he lived with an older person who has had him since he was a puppy.  His owner unselfishly made the good decision to turn him over to Ragom so that he could get more time and training.  He appears to have good hunting potential and knows some commands.

 

He will be going to the vet on Monday for a physical and medical updating and be neutered. He will return on Wednesday.  We will want to have him for several days to get to know him before we start to look for his forever family. 

 

He met our Ragom golden, Maren easily as well as Yosi, the shih tzu.  Was not fazed a bit by our four large cats.  Seems like a very nice family dog..... Watch for more information and pictures in a few days...

Hello RAGOM!

Just a short update on Brewski (Bailey 09-207).  I, Mom, have been trying to figure out why the toilet paper has been disappearing faster than a pay check lately.  This morning I heard a strange noise in the hallway so I went to check it out.  Turns out that Brewski has a TP fetish!  He has been unrolling the paper and eating the evidence!!   I have attached a picture of him in the act.   If it's not the socks it's the TP.  He is keeping us on our toes!  Glad that mystery is solved.  I am wondering if that means he has a potty mouth?!

Other than that, more of the same.  He certainly has a comfort zone.  We dog sat for my parents dog in September-a pesty little thing that wants to play and nip NON stop.  Once Brewski figured out to go to a different room things improved but before that he would just bark and bark and bark.  Speaking of bark-that is what he did one morning about a month ago when he saw a black bear from our front door. He wanted out in the worst way possible but that was not in the cards!  We are not accustomed to seeing such a sight so it got all of us rather excited!

Thanks again, RAGOM, for rescuing our Brew.  He has been a great addition to our family!

Hello RAGOM family and fans!

Guess what?  I turned three last Saturday!!  What a day it was.  The weather was perfect and there are few things I love more than being outside hanging in my "spot".  You see last summer when I got here I found a spot right smack in the middle of my huge backyard and claimed it as my own.  All summer I would roll and roll in it and Mom wondered what I would do once the snow came.  Well, I rolled and rolled in the snow in that particular spot so now it is mine!  The other day I came in from rolling with dead grass all over my back!  We ended my big day with some Frosty Paws.  You read that right.  F-R-O-S-T-Y P-A-W-S!  I even shared with my furr-butt brother, Leinie.  He can be so unappreciative.

I have really been enjoying my life around here.  Plenty to eat, smell and great places to sleep in the sun.  Mom even took up running last fall and I get to join her a lot of the time.  She says for every mile she runs I must run a mile extra. See, we live on a country road with no other houses and so we run to the dead end and back without much trouble.  I am a lucky guy.  Other than some hair funk I am feeling pretty good, too.  I had a beautiful coat when I arrived then it started to fall out (like completely on my belly...eek!) and now it is coming back but is kind of fluffy and light colored instead of the handsome flowing coat I used to have.  It doesn't seem to bother anyone around here too much.  They are always kissing me and lovin' me to pieces.

One day Mom came home with a couple of new balls.  They are green and I love them SOOO much!  I chew on them and then bounce them on the ground so I can catch them.  Then I try to shake them to death and repeat the whole process all over again.  I don't want you all to think that I am perfect.  Mom does point out my imperfections.  See, I love socks.  White ones mostly.  I will find them and carry them to my mom or dad.  If I can't find them I chew them up since they should not have been left out for me to have to pick up anyway, right?  I am only trying to help keep America clean.  Mom does school with me, too but I am not keen on anything but sit and the occasional stay. The whole "down" thing is overrated but she tries anyway.  Well, I have attached a few pictures.  Check out my Elvis impression...

Hello RAGOM!

Brewski (fka Bailey 09-207) checking in! I am having a ball-mostly tennis balls but I also fancy this green bouncy one!! My furr butt brother (Leinie) and I play constantly. Mom says it is like having two teenage boys rough housing ALL the time! I am sure she means it in the nicest way possible. She gets a bit annoyed with me sometimes because every time she turns around I am chewing on a sock or a towel or stuffed animal. She tries hard to have everything put away but I scavenge around until I find something! Fortunately I have been blessed with GREAT looks and I can look at her a certain way and she is jelly in my paws. I have lots of room to run and romp-this is truly the golden life and it suits me just fine!

My kids are here for a couple of days and then the rest of the mornings they go running out the door when they hear this big yellow thing honk at them. I stand at the door with my head hanging really low wondering why they left without me. Mom waits a couple of minutes and then lets me out to check and make sure they aren't playing outside without me. I hate it when I can't play with them! A few hours later they come home and I am happy again. Mom and I have taken up running. I love when I see her pull out her shoes. Leinie and I like to keep her company and have even stashed some tennis balls along the way.

I got a new haircut a few weeks back. Mom called it my "hula skirt". See, I lost a bunch of hair on my belly so I was left with just a long, thin strip of hair on both sides of my belly. I look much more manly now and all my hair is filling back in very nicely. No one could figure out why my hair was falling out but we are all happy it has stopped! I was feeling so studly that I even felt up to protecting the yard from a WHOLE BUNCH of coyotes. Dad wasn't any too pleased with me attempting that but no harm was done. Leinie was no help-he was shaking at the front door the whole time! He likes to think he is tougher than me but I know better.

Mom and Dad are going away over night and I get to go to Grandma's. Mom is nervous because it is the first time I am sleeping over at someone else's house. What a nervous nelly! I will be fine! I hope all is well with you in RAGOM world. Enjoy my photos!

From Brewski and his forever family...

Hello RAGOM!

Brewski (fka "Bailey") here! I am living the good life here in Wisconsin! I have a huge yard to play in and have recently figured out this invisible fence system my family has for me. Something about keeping me close and safe or something like that. I love playing with my furr brother, Leinie. It took him some time to figure out that I was here to stay but now that is all squared away and we are having a good time wrestling each day. I have been swimming for the first time at our cabin and I loved it! I still can't figure out if everyone was laughing at me or with me, though...

I have learned to be respectful of the cat. She doesn't come out very much so I was really excited about her at first. Mom and Dad figured out how to cure me of chasing her and life has been better ever since! I attended my human brother's baseball game last week. What fun! Of course I thought EVERYONE should want to pet me so Mom took me off to the side so she could enjoy watching part of the game. A little boy just loved me and sat by me for the whole game! I even met some small dogs as they were walking by and did great if I do say so myself! The hardest part for me was that I couldn't get at those baseballs! Two of my human siblings love to play Chuck-It with us dogs and I am really getting the hang of things. Even shed a few pounds in the process!! The littlest one in the family loves to hug me which I don't mind one tiny bit! Thanks, RAGOM, for helping me find a furever home. I am one lucky pup!

What a joy he has been! It took some time to figure out his cues but things are going well. He is really learning to trust us. When we first brought him home he didn't give us much eye contact but that is changing every week that he is here. We have taken him a few places and he has been a charmer for sure! He is very respectful of the kids and other pets which we all appreciate! He has settled in nicely and is very much a part of the family. He doesn't care for his new crate but that is where he has to be for our trips to the cabin. Hopefully over time he'll realize that going in there means fun times ahead. Riding in the car is not his favorite activity as he drools the entire time but it hasn't been a problem getting him in the vehicle, either. When he first arrived he would bark when we left the house without him but he has learned that we always come back. It's just been fabulous to watch him learn what being a dog is all about! I have attached a few of our favorite pictures. I am sure they are just the first of many! A special thanks to Pete, Kris and Suzie for all of their guidance along the way!

Bailey was officially adopted today by a Wisconsin family.  His new name will be Brewski and he will have a canine brother named Leinie and 3 human kids and a mom and dad. It's a great match and congratulations to all.

Bailey continues to do well. He was much more comfortable at his new fosterhome the second day.  He is now at the vet for two days getting neutered. He does have Lyme's disease for which he will take meds for 30 days and be fine afterwards. He will be neutered and have the last few stubborn ticks removed!!

 

Bailey is a really calm, nice dog for only being two years old. He does not need crating and is fully housebroken.

He will be meeting a nice WI family on Friday.
