Lilly (Lena 09-082)

Welcome to RAGOM, Lena, and a HUGE thank you to her wonderful transporters, Ellie & her mom, who drove all the way to Iowa to bring us this sweet girl! She LOVES her blanket and it will of course follow her to her new home!

Lena is a littermate of Sally (09-056) and Zoey (09-057). She was surrendered by a breeder because, like her sisters, she was found to have a heart murmur. :( However, it appears that Lena only has a Grade II murmur, which is pretty common in puppies, and it is likely that she will grow out of it, and/or that it will never bother her. Phew, that was good news... but we still have our fingers & paws crossed for her sisters!

Lena (or Lexie as we've been calling her), is of course DARLING, but also has a fantastic little puppy personality, which is coming out more and more every day (this is day #3 with us). She seems to be a pretty well-adjusted little girl, despite not having a lot of socialization during her first weeks of life. She LOVES other dogs, LOVES to be held and cuddled (seriously, she will sit on your lap for hours!), and LOVES to play like the spunky little girl she is. But get this one... she is also a GREAT sleeper! She slept through the night the first night we had her, and I thought it was a fluke since she'd had a long, stressful day. Nope, she did it again last night. Both mornings I was up before her, she'd kept her crate dry, and just calmly batted her cute little eyelashes at me to take her out. Good girl! Clearly she's figured out what it takes to be an irresistable little pupper. I think my niece would agree, as she snuggled her up a good part of yesterday afternoon and evening.

Lena has had her puppy shots and de-worming, and is a happy, healthy girl looking for her perfect family! They will have to be OK with a bit of uncertainty around her heart murmur, since there are never any guarantees, but the likelihood is that it will resolve itself and never cause her any problems. Let us know if you are interested in meeting this little sweetie!

Lena 09-082 now Lili was surrendered by a breeder along with her sisters Sally 09-056, Zoey 09-057, and Rosa 09-134 due to having significant heart murmurs. We were originally told that her life expectancy likely would be about two years. We were blessed to have her in our lives for over eight years until she crossed the rainbow bridge in June 2017. She battled through epilepsy, crohns, and other health issues but was always a bundle of joy to all of us. Her favorite times were at our cabin where she could roam free on 160 acres.

The pictures are from her adoption day, at Goldzilla 2016, and the day before she crossed the rainbow bridge.

Little Lena was adopted to a wonderful family on Sunday! She will have 3 human brothers and a mom and dad to spoil her! There will be many walks in the preserve next to their house and trips up north to run and explore on their land. What a lucky girl!

I already talked to them and she is doing wonderfully. She even slept through the night, she didn't even do that at her foster home! She must know she is home now : ).

Thank you K family for loving this special girl. I know she will bring you a lifetime of love and joy!

Oh, her new name is Lili, how sweet is that!

Princess Lena. Am I cute or what?

Hello RAGOM land, it's me, Lexie! Or Lena, whichever you prefer. I'm not picky. "Puppy, puppy, puppy" works too -- as long as you say it in a high voice, I'll come running! :) I've been in my foster home for 6 days now, and foster mom (FM) tells me I've made SO much progress!
I've learned to go up the stairs, but must admit I'm still a little afraid to go back down. No problem though, I run up them all the time and then bark at FM to come pick me up and bring me back down. Guess I have her trained pretty well. I was on a little bit of a hunger strike for the first couple of days when FM tried to get me to eat what she calls good, "healthy" dog food. We made a deal though, and she let me eat some mushy stuff for a while, but now I'm holding up my end of the bargain and, you know, I think I might actually like the good stuff! And as long as she takes my clinky tags off before I eat, I'm even brave enough to eat out of the bowl! FM says I am also a potty-training superstar! I admit that I've had a few accidents, but she says that's to be expected b/c I'm only a little girl afterall. She seemed surprised that I knew what she meant when we go outside and she tells me to "go potty". Duh, how hard is that?
Mostly I spend my days entertaining myself with my toys and bones, cuddling on FM's lap, and romping around with foster fur brother Zach. We especially love to wrestle on FM's bed. Did you see the picture of me "able to leap over Zach in a single bound"? Yep, I think he was surprised by how well I can hold my own in our wrestle sessions, but it's not like I'm some wimpy little girl. FM calls me a "scrapper" and a "tomboy", whatever that means. I am still trying to win over my other foster brother, Mason... mostly by biting at his long, fluffy tail feathers, but he is still playing hard to get with me. Go figure. FM says not to worry about him though, b/c he is a crotchety old man at the ripe old age of 5. Silly, I say! Life is about having fun! Good thing Zach seems to agree with me!!!
FM tells me that lots of nice people have asked about meeting me, and I'm just SO excited to think that I might have a family of my very OWN soon. We even have a meeting planned with one of them this evening, although there is a lot of white stuff falling from the sky right now, so FM said I might have to be patient in case they can't make it tonight. I'll try!
Well, I guess it's about nap time for me. My favorite napping spot is right here on FM's lap, but she says that once in a while she actually needs two hands to type so that she can afford my dog food. In that case, I guess I am ok snuggling up in my favorite blanket (thanks Ellie!) in my crate. Thanks for reading about me and my new life... I feel so lucky to be a RAGOM girl!
Ta ta for now,Lexie
