On May 19th, Ranger was helped across the Rainbow Bridge after suffering a possible stroke, just under a month away from his 15th birthday. He was a part of our family for over eight years, and will be sorely missed by us all. Ranger was one of the sweetest and most friendly dogs I have known; he could always brighten up someone’s day with his goofy smile and constant willingness to play fetch. Like many goldens, Ranger loved to swim, and one of his most favorite things to do was to go to the nearby lake and play in the water for as long as he could (when it was time to go, he would always be the very last one out, exhausted, yet forever hopeful that we might throw just one more stick for him). Long walks in the woods was second best, especially when given the opportunity to run around off-leash. Ranger was the sort of dog whom you could trust not to run off, unlike his fur-sister Sunshine. He would happily run ahead (and/or lag behind) on walks through trees and prairie. An easy-going guy, Ranger got along well with other dogs (as well as other creatures, such as guinea pigs and lambs), and loved his people dearly. He was loved by many and lived a long, happy life. Rest in peace, Ranger. We’ll miss you so much. |
