Kaylee 08-326

Profile

Hello to Kaylee from all the RAGOM fans out there! Kaylee is a sweet 8 yo Cream Colored Purebred Golden Retriever who was surrendered by her owners due to lack of time. She and her littermate Kiah 08 327 have been an outdoor dogs all their life. Kaylee is still anxious from the move from the country into the city so we will get to know her better as she relaxes. Right now we know she loves to be near people, loves kisses and puts her head in your lap for pets. Kaylee has been around cats and kids and shown no aggression. She met my two dogs without incident. Once in a while she growls at my 2 yo male Skye. Just to tell him not to be so rambunctious around her. A senior girl has a right to say that!

Kaylee is staying at my house temporarily until transport can be arranged to her foster in Iowa. Kaylee weighs in at 97.5 pounds! According to the vet today, she need to lose at least 25 of that. So we have started her on some quality low cal food and will begin an exercise program. Kaylee is spayed and other than the weight, she is healthy. Kaylee had a severe cut at the groomer before her surrender. Once her hair grows back and she loses some weight, she will be a svelte beautiful Golden girl and ready to entertain suitors! Just look at that adorable face!

Kaylee (Angel Girl) joined her sister, Kiah 08-327, at Rainbow Bridge on March 31, 2014.  Within a short time as foster mom, we adopted her.  The joy and love Kaylee bestowed on everyone, especially me, was immeasurable.   After being diagnosed with a terminal mass, she gave me 8 more months of protection, laughter, and the honor of being her friend.  From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU RAGOM and Dayle for giving us 8 wonderful years together.

Just the other day, FM was reading that a Foster Mom referred to herself as a failure because she adopted her foster.  If one of my Golden brothers or sisters can make a family happy and complete, that is a success.  And if that same family makes one of us happy and complete, that is a successful adoption.  I am a success.  That means that Suzie, Sasha, Grayson and Sandy 08-282 want to keep me forever.

Sandy and I have so much in common, being RAGOM dogs and all.  We are both on diets, love to sleep and can lean on each other.  Grayson simply adores me (you should see how much he kisses me).  When I have bad dreams, Sasha will lay down next to me until I stop crying.

This might not be a "typical" family, but it works for us!!  And all you fosters out there, please know that NO foster is a failure when you want us permanently.

I have been waiting for FM to tell you all about me... but no, she was too busy walking with me, taking me swimming, bathing me and showing me off! And all of these are some of my favorite things. So I will overlook it this time. I should also mention that I live to eat. Dog food is a last resort for my fine dining tastes, but FM will not share her food with me, so I am forced to eat like my other fur butt friends.

When I came to Iowa, FM took a week off just to be with me. She had other projects too, but I like to think that it was all about me. I have a real, real old foster friend here and we keep FM surrounded. Outside, inside, it doesn't matter...we just like being a family. I am not sure which is my favorite... sleeping, eating, walking or swimming. Does it really matter? I think not, as I am very good at all of them... especially eating.

Promise not to tell FM that I told you this story. It was a VERY hot evening, and all 4 of us (fur butts) pestered her to go for a walk. Trust me, she cannot say no to us. Off we went for a slow, evening stroll. Did I say it was hot? Well, it was VERY hot. FM was talking to us (she thinks we don't understand) about the town fountain and how close we were to it. And there it was! Big enough for all of us fur butts to get wet. The others jumped right in, but I had to get some help with my 'larger than life butt'. Once in, I was not about to get out! FM dropped my leash when she was helping me in, and I did what any smart dog would do...I stayed just out of her reach and enjoyed the water, much longer than the others. As a last resort, FM had to get in the water with me! Boy do I wish you could have seen that!!! We laughed all the way home.

My beautiful blonde coat is growing and I look so good. And with the slow weight loss, who could ask for anything more? Children are okay, cats are okay, dogs are really okay, so I need to have a fur mate, old is good.

Care to meet me? Just let placementatragom [dot] org know, and maybe we can get a meet and greet arranged. Thank you for keeping me in mind.

Kaylee is doing great in her new digs! She is a sweet happy girl who wants only to lay around and be loved up. We have been walking so she can burn calories and I'll just bet she has lost a little weight already. Every once in a while she whimpers and I think she is missing her old life. We know that no matter what kind of life it was, to our dogs it was THEIR life. Whenever she does her little whimper, her sister Kiah runs over to give her kisses. And Kaylee kisses back. Can you think of anything cuter?! I wish I could get a picture of Kiah's conehead surrounding Kaylee's big head to give and get kisses!

Kaylee loves nothing better than to lie in the grass--or the dirt--and roll around on her back. She also LOVES the kiddie swimming pool. And then of course it's back to rolling in the dirt. Oh my and she's a white golden! She has been hosed down a time or two. Kaylee is also much more pleased with my boy Skye. It's OK with her now if he rough houses with his best friend Sammy from next door. She even let's him give her kisses. No more growling. Kaylle will move to her permanent foster in IA on Sunday. I know she and Kiah will miss each other!
