Katy 08-026

Profile

Meet Miss Katy (with a 'y' please).  She is 6 years old, a big beautiful girl and a real sweetie.  She has lived with a 3 and 12 year old and another dog.  Sadly one of the neighbors had issues with Katy, none of which was Katy's fault.  Some people just don't teach their kids to respect animals and invisable fencing.  Sadly, due to the conflict Katy's dad decided it would be better for Katy to find a new home.

Katy has met resident Jake, foster bro Sam 07-690 and Coulter the Cat, whom she loves.  She had a kitty at her old home.  There has been a lot of exploring and sniffing but no accidents.  She is eating well and will see the vet this afternoon to get microchipped, updated on anything she needs and will be spayed on Thursday.  She is earning her keep by cuddling and getting Sam to come in the door faster than ever before:)

Katy likes her tennis balls, but is not obsessive about them.  She is not a big water dog.  She will go in the water til the water covers her back, then she is done, and forget about retrieving in the water!!  Hey, we have our standards!!  She is mellow in the house and her tail is always wagging.    According to her owner she does like to counter surf and will get into garbage.  Well, our kitchen garbage is covered and we have learned to try and keep our counters clean. We haven't seen any of this behaviour in her since arriving.  But hey, it's only been about half a day.  We will see down the line how it all plays out.

More after her visit to the vet today. Katy will be ready for adoption by next week end, but keep in mind if you are interested now, you can meet anytime.  St Cloud is just a freeway ride away to meet such a beautiful and statuesque lady!!

Almost 7 days to the hour that Katy walked in our home as a RAGOM foster, she walked out as newly adopted family member of the "A" family.

It was great having Katy here for a week as she is a sweet and gentle soul.  She was good for Sam 07-690 and a great cuddler.  Today she met her forever family and it was a match without a doubt.  The surprising part was she was not bashful to let Porter, her new 4 year old Labradoodle brother, she was in charge, #1, alpha female.....well you get my drift.  The family is dog savvy and understand the dynamics of the pack, and so will let Katy get her message across to Porter in her own way.

Thanks for spending a week with us Katy, we'll miss you, but know you have found your forever Golden Family that will love you and keep you forever.

Sorry the pictures of Katy aren't more exciting, but I have exciting health news.  She is one healthy girl.  She is up to date on her shots, no lyme or heartworm disease, no parasites, a couple lumps were aspirated and they are just cysts.  She does have small cataracts, but then at her age she is entitled.  She sees just fine.  She was a jewel at the vet, though not thrilled about having her temp taken, well hello, would you?

Katy is good as gold.  She loves the cat, but of course anytime she was sniffing and licking Coulter, no camera handy.  She has done her best to get Shy Sam 07-690 to play and has succeeded in some form or the other.  Just getting him to come back in the house from the garage quickly is a real trick.  Though Katy doesn't know any 'tricks' she is learning to take treats 'nicely'.  She has met and played with Lake, the lab from next door, and all was fine.  Tonight we have an over night transport guest, and she met him just fine and they even ran and chased around outside for a bit.  She doesn't bug Jake, respects her elders.  She has been sleeping on the bed since she got here, (I know bad foster mom) but I don't feel it will be an issue to get her to go back to sleeping on the doggie bed.  She loves the chew bones, rawhides and we played a bit of tug when she couldn't get Sam or Jake to be her partner.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Katy will be spayed and have her teeth cleaned.  I would bet it will improve her breath a lot, cuz right now it's less than desirable:(   I will let you know how she does, though I expect no problems.  By the week end this statuesque lady will be good to go to her forever home.  So if you have been looking for a great lady, has free roam of the house, is house trained, does not chew on anything inappropriate and having lived with kids, tolerates pretty much anything, including putting your hand in her food dish (don't recommend it, just letting you know she doesn't resource guard food or toys),  then give us a call and come meet this sweet girl.
