It's been way too long since we sent in an update on Milo the Menace (our affectionate take on "Dennis the Menace"). Milo is still a character; that's just the best way to describe him.

Although he'll be 11 years old in August, he hasn't slowed down much. He's not hyper and never was. He just needs his twice-daily walks to keep his devious nature in check (i.e., hiding my wallet under a chair, pestering our 16-year-old cat, etc.).

Milo continues to make us laugh every day. We take him up north as often as we can. He's a great traveler and loves to explore new territory. One thing we haven't figured out yet: he will catch soft, squishy toys or even a Kong Wubba. But he will not catch a treat or a ball. Check out this video.

Hello RAGOM (and hello to all the wonderful people who support RAGOM)!

Milo got to meet Fabio (10-157) at Ollu Dog Wash last month. Milo told Fabio (in case Fabio hadn’t already figured this out) that he’s a very fortunate guy to have been rescued by RAGOM.

Milo will be 3 years old this month, and I think we can just about say he’s out of his “adolescent” phase. He’s come a long way with the attitude thing, and now that he’s finally accepted his role and place in our household, he’s become more and more affectionate. However, he has very little of that Golden Retriever “desire to please,” and I doubt that will ever change.

Oh well, he really is a good boy 95% of the time, and we love him dearly. He also continues to make us laugh on a daily basis. He’s quite the character.

We think Milo has stopped growing, which is a good thing. We love him more and more as we’ve gotten to know and understand this big, fuzzy, intelligent, mischevious goofball.

This year he traveled to both the north and south shores of Lake Superior, as well as to Rainy Lake (Grandpa and Grandma’s house) several times. He loves boat rides and playing in the water, but doesn’t really get the swimming thing.

He and Bogey, our very tolerant and playful cat, are buddies and take turns initiating intense games of “tag” in the house. It’s a good thing we don’t have a lot of wood floors.

Milo sends his love to all the great people at RAGOM who make wonderful lives, such as his, possible.

From Milo's forever family...

Milo has grown into a big, happy goofball who loves to play keep away with his Tirebiter toy (a must for those dogs who destroy every other toy you buy them), to rest his head on Bogey’s (our cat) window seat while he watches the world go by, and to travel with us whenever we head up north.

Milo loves the dog park and has become quite well known on Victory Memorial Parkway, where we typically walk him. Like most Goldendoodles, he is incredibly intelligent and learns amazingly fast. However, unlike most Golden Retrievers, he doesn’t have a strong desire to please us… So we recently re-enrolled in obedience training at the Animal Humane Society (which has helped a great deal), and he just passed into Obedience Level 3.

Last spring he did so well in an Agility for Fun class, we’re thinking of taking that up again. It takes a lot to wear him out, so we’re grateful for Bogey, who keeps Milo entertained when we’re trying to get stuff done around the house. (Bogey is a very tolerant cat, loves getting Milo to chase him, and allows Milo to drag him around by his head, as long as Milo is gentle.)

We are so grateful for the wonderful work RAGOM does for so many dogs. We spread the word whenever possible!

Milo is growing up so quickly. It's amazing how much all the puppies have grown since they came into our house. Milo is still the largest puppy though Kopi has almost caught up to him. Milo seems to be the most adventuresome puppy out of the bunch. He also loves to play with his brother.

He and his siblings are starting the weaning process. It is going really well. They all eat up their mushy food whenever they get it. Milo is starting to eat hard food too. Whenever he's around his mom's food, he'll go over and start gnawing on the hard food.

He also loves to cuddle and play with the humans in the house. He's finally mastered walking and is in the process of mastering running. He also likes to bark. He'll see me come into the room and will start barking at me. It's super cute!

Hello all!

This is Milo here. Foster and biological mom are upstairs playing, so I snuck downstairs to say hi to all my fans out there! I had a really exciting night. My new family that will be taking me home in a month came over to visit me tonight. I had a great time with them. I loved playing with them and with my biological mom. It's so much fun to spend time with the new family I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.

Things are going well. My foster mom says I'm learning this weaning thing really well. In fact, I ate a huge portion of mushed up puppy food tonight. It's not as good as my mom's milk, but it did taste good. I'm still the biggest puppy out of the bunch. Also I'm the darkest, though it's hard for people to tell.

I'm sending some new awesome pictures of me. My new foster parents took them, and I know foster mom was super happy since she says it's hard to get pictures since I'm off running around and exploring. I'm too busy moving -- her pictures turn out blurry!

Milo met his forever family yesterday, and they called today to let me know they want to adopt him. They are a wonderful couple, and I'm super excited for all the traveling and adventures they are planning to take Milo on. Since he is an adventuresome pup, I think he'll fit right in with his new home (when he goes home with them).

Milo is doing wonderful. Now that he has this walking thing down pat, he's taking off all over the place. This morning I was trying to get a picture of him, so I would put him down 15 feet away from me and lay down on the carpet and try to focus the camera on him. Before I even have the chance to get it focused, he'd be climbing on the camera. Then I'd try again by running to the other side of the room, but same thing!

Milo is a super sweet baby. When he grows up, he'll have a wonderful temperament. He loves to snuggle up to you or snuggle with mom. He is probably the most adventurous of the bunch, as he's always squiggling around. He's very tolerable of being handled.

Milo's eyes are getting close to being fully opened. He's the best walker of the three puppies. He's able to get on his feet and walk about a foot before collapsing. The vet believes he will have a wavy coat (versus the curly coat some Goldendoodles have).
