Keely 07-158

Profile

Introducing Keely girl! She was born in January 2007 and is one of the North Dakota commercial breeder puppies. Keely and her sister Kaya came to our house VERY smelly and very confused. They both got two baths and came out of the tub looking and smelling like happy puppies. Keely is a little sweetheart. She likes people and other dogs. While her sister Kaya is poking around, sniffing and exploring, she is content to sit near or next to me. If Kaya finds something interesting, though, Keely takes off like a shot.

Keely likes to play but if she's not getting her way will pout and complain. When we visit Cody 07-149, Keely thinks that he is a good chew toy, while Kaya loves to play with him. Keely loves to be held. Keely kind of takes the lead from other dogs around her. She is very good at leaving resident dog Cinder alone, who doesn't like the concept of being a big fluffy chew toy. If Keely is doing something that she WANTS to be doing, but is new and "scary," (like stairs) she will do it, but also cry the whole time. It's actually really cute. Keely and Kaya both are fascinated by the TV.

Kylie was adopted back in 2007. Her previous name was Keely. She has changed our world.

Ever since she was a puppy, she has been very devoted to our family. She has the same routine every night: lay in parents' room then go to each kid's room to check if they’re asleep and then finally sleeps at the top of the stairs.

She doesn’t like change at all, and often gets nervous when it does happen (for example Christmas and Christmas decorations.) Our family fosters kittens with a local animal rescue and she loves all of them. She has a special bond with our house cat Gracie. Kylie and our other adopted dog Elliott love each other a lot too.

Kylie is 12 years old today but doesn’t show her age at all; well, besides all the gray fur! She loves to play and especially loves attention.

When she was four years old she popped a hole in her lung which required very expensive and traumatizing surgery. She had a long recovery and sometimes has problems breathing after going up stairs. Arthritis is also starting to get to her.

We believe she still has a lot of life left in her. She is such an amazing dog and we love her so so much. Thank you for rescuing her from that puppy mill because if you haven’t, we would’ve never adopted such a great dog!

Love,
The S Family

Here's probably not the last update, but the happiest on our little foster girl Keely!!  Keely met her family this weekend (her new mom even called in sick to come see her, but no one's telling, and really, can you blame her?) and it was a perfect match.  She got to have her first week in her new home.  Keely's new name is Kylie, a combo of both Kaya and Keely, and she learned it quickly!  Keely Girl has a girl and 2 boys to grow up with, and her dad won't let her get away with too much (he's a police officer)!!  But we have a feeling she's going to have everyone wrapped around her little paw sooner or later.

They are looking into puppy classes to start next week or so and are continuing on the housetraining.  She's already learned "sit" and even "stay"!!  The S family has a little sweetheart, and they definitely know it.  She has some bigs paws to fill as their previous Golden boy, Isaac, was quite the presence at home.  But I know she'll do just fine.

The house sure was quiet when these two left!  Resident dog Cinder, we are sure, threw a "YES, they're gone!" party for herself, but Foster Mom and Dad missed the crazy girls!  In the pictures with two pups, Keely is the one with the blue collar, and the second pic is of her protesting that I was taking a photo instead of doing what I was supposed to be, holding her.  Of course the last is of Keely with her new family.

Before she left, Keely wanted me to be sure to thank everyone at Laboratory Staffing, Inc.  The sponsorship helped with many things, but the biggest being vet bills, and Keely's just glad that she has everything now to help her grow into a big and beautiful golden girl!
